Path of Exile catch-all

They should sell Unusual Hats. Just like TF2. Special effects, just cosmetic.

They already do.

I admit the curved horns look fetching. Maybe a bow that weeps blood? They have all those pets but how about an upgradeable pack mule?

Oh yes - I would love that - a pet that doubles as a pack mule. I'd pay for that.

My number one pain in the ass is their Inventory Tetris & those runs back to town. The mule could definitely cause some disruption to their barter/crafting economy but they just need make the mule's carrying capacity some % of the player's. If nothing blows up they could add on additional tabs to the mule's pack and allow the player to increment it row by row for Points.

Yeah... Points. Their premium currency needs a catchier name as well

Well did a quick scan of the PoE forums and I get the feeling the mule pet idea has already been vetoed as creating too dramatic a ripple & essentially falling under the pay-to-win umbrella. Granted this is not something a dev said but supporters were chatting and made it sound quite definitive.

No one wants to be the Wallet Warrior.

By the 2nd Act you are rolling in Wisdom scrolls and portal scrolls through drops and just selling stuff. So I guess I dont buy it breaks the economy spiel.

Did you notice that if you identify something before selling it, you get a better price for it?

Portal Scroll is three Wisdom Scrolls. Sometimes I don't even break even, when using a Portal Scroll.

You dont get a better price, you get a different type of shard. I dont even ID blues anymore - only yellows or better.

It isnt possible to break even from a single run unless you only collect square items (helms, greaves, gloves) or or single row, 3 box items (some maces, glass daggers, etc...). My recommendation is to only use portal in zones where there isnt any teleport pad or just run back to town if you are starting off. The quicksilver flask is pretty handy to speed up those runs. Once you get past the first few levels you'll start getting enought wisdom and portal scroll drops that you'll only return to town when convenient or you are full of blues/yellows.

I just assumed they were better shards... Don't they let you get better equipment? Sometimes I make these snap judgements and don't revisit them, I'll have to check.

Typically blues return one of two different type of shard - one type if you ID, one type if you dont. The only other benefit to ID'ing is that I believe a blue will return a couple of shards AND a Wisdom scrap.

To sate my own curiosity, I've just validated that selling a low-level blue unidentified uniformly nets 2 transmutation shards, while selling the same item type identified usually gets you 5. I think the final value must be determined by the quality of the affixes, as I tested this across a bunch of helms and got 6 for a particularly good battered leather cap. I think the variety of ingredients comes from selling different item types (for example flasks give different things and it seems that yellows might grant from a pool of ingredient types).

This explains the returns on selling the various items.

Man, that's really cool! I love so many of the design decisions they have made with this game Some very smart user experience work coupled with a tight set of innovative, sometimes groundbreaking complex systems. This will be the first FtP title I drop cash into, and I am extremely happy to do so. It really is like Diablo 2 and Titan Quest had a feisty antipodean lovechild

I just discovered that the main website has a skill build generator. It's a lot of fun to mess around in! The skill web is incredibly dense when you first look at it but once you understand the keystone skills, the clusters and so on it's incredibly satisfying to work out a cool build.

The way I do it is to pick the skills I simply must have, plot the shortest path there and then pick up any low hanging fruit.

Here is a build I worked out today. Zookeeper Witch

This is a witch build 100% focused on minions and having an impenetrable energy shield. There are NO offensive skills whatsoever other than casting speed. It's not very well rounded obviously, but I can see it being helpful in a party. She can drown the enemies in meatshield bodies and buff everyone with auras and power charges.

And yes I know the feasible skill limit is about 60 or so. That is still enough points to grab the important things. The remainder are mostly stat bonuses like mana regen.

I bought a founder pack after getting into the closed beta last year and seeing how solid the game was shaping up to be. As they continue to support and add more content, I'll throw more money into the tipjar later.

Popular Marauder build.

I'm using it now, mid20s in Act 2. Solid, playable build, very durable. And I've come to the conclusion that everyone needs to slot a Leap Slam gem just for the mobility in and out of combat.

Also have a minion heavy witch, a 2H & totem templar and a claws shadow in the mid20s, all of which have been fun to play. The duelist and the ranger have stalled out at 18 or so, just not as fun.

I grabbed this just to see how it would feel as a change from D3. Thoughts so far;

1)Every name is taken, ALL OF THEM. There are only so many vaguely coherent arrangements of letters and I found myself quickly missing the btag system where tons of people can have the same character name without issue.

2)I got to the first town and every time I do anything there I get disconnected/kicked to menu, so all of what.. 3 minutes into play? is where I'm forced to stop. I know it's beta but that almost strikes me as an alpha thing, I should probably give this more time in the oven before attempting again.

I haven't had that problem at all, Krev. Maybe it's a resources thing? Bad time of day? They were having troubles yesterday with the servers, I know that...

While disconnects are frequent during prime time (too many players overloading limited servers, it seems), I haven't had that problem, Krev. Anything you do in the first 'town' disconnects you? Talking to any of the NPCs, hitting the stash or noticeboard?

I'll give it another go this evening but yeah last night doing any sort of interaction with any npc or the board would kick me out instantly with a "Connection interrupted" or some such message on the login window. Able to login again no problem but same issue would occur.

Have never seen that, definitely report it.

Didn't have any issues last night. Well, outside of the Mervail boss kicking me to oblivion... Zombies don't help much with no corpses around.

Use the wall near the entrance and Firestorm or Fireball as your DD spell. Duck around opposite wall and heal. Will probably take a good 5 minutesto do it. Also if you have Firetrap - that helps immensely. Only spell/gem I take with every character I use. Can be used as a lure trap or like a grenade - FABULOUS (In Falsetto)!

I will try that. Friend me up if you haven't.

Guess I'll be tagging.

What name am I friending?

Afrina is one of mine.
