NCAA 13 Xbox360 Season III (2-star league) - Week 9 (Spots Available)

Indiana beats Illinois, 31-7. But it was only 14-7 going to the half and all throughout the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, IU drove the ball down to the goal line, then went for it on 4th-and-goal from the 1 yard line...and got stuffed. However, the very next play I took my OLB and ran him untouched past a pulling guard to nail the Illinois runner for a safety. The next drive led to a TD, which really sealed the game.

There were a lot of punts. The only turnovers came in the 4th. I threw an INT that their safety just sprinted to get. I managed to fumble the ball with about 45 sec left in the game, but I got an INT of my own not long after.

The bad news is that my starting HB, by far the best runner on the team, is out for 8 weeks with a "partial PCL tear."

The other bad news is that while my defense held Illinois to 85 yards passing, it gave up 122 rushing yards, including 72 by the QB. If you happen to play this team, spy the QB at all times! Even then he was getting 10 yards at times.

Were you in man coverage a lot? I noticed that sticking to zone against running QBs helps. Kind of like the Niners against the Packers.

I was in man coverage a lot, but not exclusively. No matter how you set the "QB contain" option, the LBs and CBs are slow to react to scrambling QBs, even in zone...even if the QB runs right past them! It seems like that option affects the D-line more than anyone else, as they tend to give chase to a scrambler more often when it's set. Or at least they seem to get him more often. I did end up with 4 or more sacks (I don't remember the final numbers).

But, I'll keep that in mind if your QB starts scrambling a lot next week.

I think QB Contain worked better in NCAA 12 than this year's version, for sure. It's one of the reasons I was forced to try and figure out how to stop some scrambling QB's. It's a tough balance, as stopping a scrambler should not be as simple as flipping a switch in the Gameplan. But every scrambler should be Johnny Football, either.

And I never did completely stop the QB in a couple of those games I played, whether in our OD or my offline Kansas and SMU Dynasties. But I did find Man Coverage to be really bad, while Zone was better.

What I've tended to do is hot route one of my DEs or LBs from a pass rush to a QB spy. Even that doesn't always work that well. The Ill. QB is a very good runner, so he did a lot better than most of the QBs I've faced. He also had a few nice read-option plays.

I find this funny, since I am in the middle of the RG3 Road to Glory, and I am trying to "Pass for 200, Rush for 200" and it's damned near impossible because the MLB is locked on to me for 90% of the game. So the XBox knows how to lock onto the QB, it just chooses not to do it to help a human

RGIII is fast enough to go around the linebacker and gain yards for you.

I will get my game in tomorrow night

Flag Story

Fresno betas up on Washington State 49-0. I think this is my first shutout in a league ever. Racked up 572 of offense. The Cougars started off hot getting down to the Fresno State 1, but a goal lone stand and then a 16 play 95 yard drive was just the start of the slaughter.

Next weeks game is against Top 10 Oregon.

This week: Indiana v. Kansas!

When can you play, Jayhawker? Later at night (esp. after 10) works best for me. Even tonight would work.

EDIT: Man, the website is a bit goofy sometimes. It does not handle instant commits gracefully (yeah for IU, nabbing a 72-rated 3* CB).

Also, it credited Illinois with the points for the safety they gave up last week.

Jayhawker – Are you around tonight? I'd be up for a game...especially a late-starting one. Sorry we missed each other last night.

No problem. I have four English classes this semester, along with Spanish 101. It's tougher to find flexible time, and the wife is less willing to give up the little time we have.

Tonight is bad. I have to get up too early on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Thursday night and all day Friday is best. I can also find time this weekend.

Maybe we should only speak Spanish during the game?

When's a good time for you, Jayhawker? Saturday afternoon might work for me, maybe sometime around 4 pm EST, but I can't commit 100% to that...it depends on when we get back from our excursion with the kiddos.

I'll also be on through about 12:30 am EST tonight...

Or if you're up, I get back from frisbee tonight about 11:30 EST

Maybe. I'm on pick-up duty tonight for a concert my daughter and friends are going to. I'm not sure when I need to leave by.

Could do earlier. If I start a game by 7:30 I can get toy game on time. If not then, Tues may be the next opportunity. Maybe sometime Sun morn or afternoon.

Alrigt everybody! Where do wee stand with getting the games in? I wil give you guys a few more days to get games in since firesloth and jayhawker haven't played yet.

I need to play as well. I will play tonight, even though I am making nice steam on Lego Star Wars.

Jayhawker – are you around at all the next two evenings?

Alright guys I hate to be the bad guy here, but I am giving you until the end of Friday night to get your games in. After that, I am rolling the league!

I'm okay to sim the game with Jayhawker if everyone else finishes before we get it in.

First, you should let Fire play, as it is all on my end.

But I think I need to really consider dropping out for now. My time is too limited for head to play.

We can try for tonIght or tomorrow. Of we don't make it, I could play CPU Friday morning if you don't think you'll stay.
