Xenoblade - New Monolith RPG for Wii

After that first point Troll mentions, it is easy to take a break from the game and think "Man I should go back and play more".

Like I do.

After Darksiders 2 and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron I'm bringing my Wii upstairs and playing Xenoblade and Last Story, dammit.

I think I'm going to snap this disc in half and go watch the ending on youtube.

Spoiler:

The entire design of the end two bosses is terrible. You can't save between Dickson and going into outer space, so I can't even go grind without having to redo that stupid fight over again. I've also not been having much fun with the game for like the last 10 hours. Some of the design choices are baffling (Loritha's battle specifically, with the acid pools + bad pathing = rage).

I was really in love with this game for the first half, too....

I'll propose my question here.

A hint on how to get that item on Agare shore behind the level 40 brog? I tried lure and still belly flops me.

Message in a bottle? Get as close as possible til he sees you, lure him as far as you can and then run away. When he's going back, quickly run into the cave, grab the item and run like crazy. Or maybe you could have Ryen aggro the brog while Shulk runs inside? (it's been a while and not sure what skills you have)

Mostly trial and error. I remember exploring those areas with level 40-70 monsters. It was suicide but I enjoyed the thrill of sneaking past them to get the items I needed.

Playing ni no kuni has rekindled my interest in JRPG's. This one seems to be a classic of this generation. Any idea why it's so difficult to find a copy? Any tips to finding a copy?

Huh, I had no idea it had become scarce. $80-$120 on Amazon and none within 100 miles at Gamestop.

Anyway, it was a fairly limited print run and was a Gamestop exclusive. That's the why.

Play this instead. It's better!

I dunno, I saw a copy of Ni No Kuni at Target the other day. Maybe I should snag a copy if it is that rare, though.

Xenoblades is rare. Sorry if my post above wasn't clear.

I asked my local GameCraze and they said they had a distributor that could get new copies for $50. You might try asking and seeing what they say.

Nah, it's still morning and I thought this was the JRPG thread.

My local Gamestop had four or five new copies on the shelf for $50. If they're still there when I get paid tomorrow, maybe we can work something out.

If someone wants to do the leg work and find a Seattle area GameStop with a copy, I could also help out.

I'll paypal you the money TODAY for one.

That would be awesome. Let me know what you need me to do

Well, sh*t. I just called them to see if they could pull a copy for me, and it turns out they had empty boxes on display as their "top sellers" but don't actually have any copies in stock, nor are there any copies (new or used) in town. That's pretty skeezy.

Sorry to get your hopes up, guys.

Wow there's 1 used copy in Bellingham, WA (100 miles away from me). That's ridiculous.

Woah, I was feeling a bit bad about my Xenoblade purchase, as I've had it for a while but haven't yet fired it up. I guess it's good that I did buy it early regardless. Didn't realize it was so hard to find now.

Dooooooouble post!

This is exactly why I got my copy on release day, though I did manage to put in about six hours or so before I got distracted by something else.

Gah! Does that store just ignore what they have up there? Why advertise something you don't have?

There are a small amount (less than 10, I think) of stores in all of Virginia with used copies. Danville, VA (170miles away) has one store with a new copy (that's it for VA). There are also new copies in Lenoir, NC and Prestonburg, KY.

Wow, Nintendo. Way to make sure your product available. Maybe we can hope for a DL version on the WiiU. It'd probably take another campaign big enough to move congress to act.

The thing is, they never had intentions of making the product very available. It was only through Nintendo directly and GameStop. Looks like they sold all of their copies, save a handful. Given how much the AAA space is focused on huge hits or nothing, I think it's good Nintendo was willing to do this at all and I'm glad they were at least able to sell what they printed.

I hope the next generation will eradicate issues like this by making everything available digitally too.

I could say the same thing except change that 6 to a 60.

Really do need to pick it back up.

I don't ever want everything digitally, but some things, yes. Especially when late to the party. If I care enough to want a game the day it comes out, I want a shiny box, or some sort of line of thought like that. Don't hold me to these words.

One store about 10 miles from me says "Low Stock", I'll have to call and see if they actually have any.

Or maybe someone who isn't working right now can call here: (858) 653-0369

Or perhaps after I finish my copy (I did start it up again a few nights ago), we can start a GWJ pass-it-on copy of it?

I don't necessarily want to purchase everything digitally, but I want everything to be available digitally.

Their website says there is one new copy at the Gamestop near my office. I'll have them pull it and pick it up if anyone wants it. I also have an extra copy that I had bought in England before they announced it for the US. If someone doesn't mind modding their Wii to play it, I will offer it up as well.

I want everything to e available. Digital is the only way that happens. I'm sick of hearing about a niche game way after it's out and finding out you can't get it now. Or waiting to buy a particular system and discovering you can't buy half the games you wanted on it.

edit to fix typos, and I can't believe how badly the ipad keyboard sucks.

I'm right there with ya man.

Maybe they'll do another print run if the next Xenoblade game (the one they showed for WiiU) comes to NA?
