EVE Online - Catch All & new meat check-in

I haven't personally gone, but know plenty of folks who have. I don't know that I've ever heard anything bad about it though.

Any excuse to go to Iceland, take it. Very cool over there. Expensive, though.

Some NSFW language in this video

CCP decided to ninja-patch FW. Not too unexpected, but kind of a bummer as I had about 65bil worth of LP to cash out. I wonder how long it'll take for those markets to recover.

Hey guys! New to GWJ, but been playing EVE since early 2006. Assuming from the video above that we've got some other TESTies in here, or at least HBC bros. I'm in Dreddit myself. Anyway, found out about this place through PXAbstraction's Dark Souls charity marathon and thought I'd check it out.

Welcome
I'm not actually in HBC, I just stumbled upon the video and it was a pretty epic bombing run.

What happened to GWJ channel ingame? It requires a password now.

I think it always has, password is 'gwjeve'

Yep, this is indeed the case. Password's been up in the sticky for forever as well.

I must have been smoking too long.
thanks for clearing things up for not-very-bright-me.

Happens to the best of us. It's also in the OP, but I didn't want to rub it in.

I haven't seen anyone (other than me) in that channel for a long time, at least not when I'm on.

Latest trailer for Retribution at IGN.

Insert obligatory 'looks like a great game, guess we have to play Eve until it come out' comment. Damn they make pretty trailers, right up there with Blizzard.

Years ago I bought a second Eve account on a steam sale, and never got around to using it. Since it still was good, I started a brand new trial account, linked the second account to it, and went back into Eve to see how it played out with the latest iteration of their 'New User Experience'. No twinking, no handouts, just what a new user would have.

After about a day and a half, I'm pleasantly surprised. The career paths story arcs they have give out quite profitable learning experience missions. The cash, skill books, gear and ships you gain from the arcs has left me sitting at a bit over 2 mil ISK cash in pocket, and probably another 3 to 4 mil for the non-liquid assets. Good hand-holding, clear intent on the missions, and good exposure to a lot of the various aspects of Eve. Including having your ship blown out from under you (they give you a specific mission just so you can enjoy being blobbed).

That historically accurate dive straight off a cliff learning curve that Eve has been infamous for is still there, but its a lot more approachable. Doing a 14 day free trial should now leave you with a decent idea of the game and why you might want to keep playing.

Thinking about jumping on the $5.00 sale for Eve on Steam. I have to create a new account do this don't I?
Can't apply the 30day to my existing account?

Anyone want to send me one of the 21 day Trials? and get the bonuses from it after I sub for 30 days?

Correct that you need a new account but a caution on the bonuses - the player sending you the invite only gets a bonus if you buy and subscribe via CCP or some such, steam copies not included at any rate. The specifics are a bit annoying and all in the fine print which tends to leave people frustrated when they did not realize the distinction.

Well that sucks....I can just pull up the 14 day Trial then, and then add the 30 day for the Steam account....Meh...

Well, I think it works actually. What won't work is the referral bonus for the person who sent you the buddy invite. It's that way because people could use Steam sales to buy super cheap game time on their accounts by sending referrals to themselves and making dummy accounts.

I just did the 14 day Trial and I'll add the steam time for 44 Days. Seems like enough time to know if I want to continue playing.
Good value for $5.00

I'm on GWJ channel later today at Argo Devion.

my corp fell apart, therefore I'm looking for a new group.
24m sp caldari pilot, been living in wh for quite a while, good scanner, jammer and bomber although little combat experience.
can also fly tengu for pve and mine gas.
based in London, England, so my playtime is usually 2200 - 0200 eve time. sometimes starting earlier, sometimes finishing later. depends on work.

if your corp could use someone like me - let me know, I'd rather get in somewhere where fellow goodjers are.

Hey Krasnoya, I'm with HBC!

Been playing Eve since 2005, but took a break in 2008. My character have been well taken care of by my girlfriends brother, and I finally decided to jump into the open void in Eve Online again. I mean, lots of things have been changed, so I am back feeling like a freakin' noob again. And man, it's still lots of fun! See all of you out there where noone can hear you scream...

And by the way, good to be here at GWJ, listened to the Podcast a good while now, but it took some time before I became a member. Also lots of fun! Good times...

Cheers!

Well I fell off the wagon and resub to eve so I will be back hanging around the channel well I work out what the feck I am going to do now

I'm usually on during EU time, so if I see any of you young 'uns, say hello

A friend got me to give Eve a try about 3 weeks ago. So far it's been fun, just finished one of the epic story arcs, "Blood-stained Stars". Right now I'm over in The Forge reigion, not far from Jita, doing some mining.

"Mac Saraki" is my in-game character.

Get on the GWJer's channel for your signing bonus !

Logged in to GWJ chat channel and said hello with my alt AwwMawwGawwd Ostus today.
Wasn't many GWJers online, but fun anyway... Sort of...
We'll meet again GWJers!

I'm back in, sorta. Lets see how long it lasts. I was in dreddit but I dropped out for now while I try to re-learn the game. I don't have the time/knowledge to really dig into the current goings on in nullsec. I'll probably just carebear it up for a bit.

Some coverage of a large Goon/Reddit battle that took place over the weekend with a pair of great videos:

I love Boing Boing's comment when they linked it: EVE WARNING: GAME MORE FUN TO READ ABOUT THAN TO PLAY.

I found that article, and particularly the video replay, astonishing. Mouth agape the entire time, the little kid within hopping up and down with joy. I understand EVE players now, and I want to be one too.

Welcome to EVE. Whenever a new story like this happens, I always want to jump back into the game. But then I remember why I left in the first place. Boing Boing's comment really does apply: EVE WARNING: GAME MORE FUN TO READ ABOUT THAN TO PLAY.

Me too Tkyl, although I do think that game is lots of fun to play, but you really need to be able to sink A LOT of time into it. Or at least I think you do if you want to be part of what is normally written.
