Hotline Miami

I wish this game would actually work, because from the presentation alone and watching videos of it in action I'm completely in love with it. Checking the forums again apparantly they're working on releasing a patch this week... here's hoping.

My biggest problem with this is playing on dual monitors. The mouse doesn't stay in the game and if I move it out to far and click the game will lose focus. I will then have to to alt tab or move the cursor back and click somewhere to get the focus back on the game. Very painful when this happens during a fight.

I really would like my money back on this one. You don't release a game that's a broken piece of sh*t.

Game works fine for me, since the very first patch (GOG version). Even before the most hilarious "printer spooler" - bug fix, it was playable - but not with a gamepad, which was addressed later. I don't know how that worked out. See Steam update post here. I play it with mouse & keyboard.

I am against the "it's only made by two Dudes", "it's an indie game", "it's just ten bucks" argument, when it comes to quality issues of games. A game is either good (technically polished) or not. No excuses. But those two guys (yep, really two in total!) addressed the complaints and also are available for any issues you (user) might have.

I think, this shows, what kind of guys they are. They have my respect.

When it comes to "Game of the Year" discussion on Internet Forums, Hotline Miami is up their in my top 5-10 - together with FTL. Unlike Borderlands 2, or BLOPS2, MOHW - even Torchlight2, nor Diablo3 - all excellent games, but they lack what the former two "indie" games have - call it "character".

Well you are this guy that goes around killing russians and big bone black men. Then you find a girlfriend that might be man. Then you kill more people and afterward you get pizza, some drinks, and few movies from the rental store. This is where the game falls apart. There are no video rental stores anymore. Everything is online now and what isn't is on DVD. Pretty much ruins the entire game. Oh yeah and every day is Halloween. Pretty much the same story as Mass Effect.

hee hee

Picked this up for five bucks at Amazon, and had a chance to start playing this weekend.

Man, it's really cool. I'm a few episodes in, but I love it. One small thing that really helps prevent frustration for me is the way the music continues when you die - this is the kind of game where death is supposed to happen and it goes out of its way to make you feel like that's all right.

The controls are certainly an acquired taste. I tried the gamepad, but it felt harder, so I'm sticking with keyboard and mouse for now. I'm starting to get the hang of it a bit.

OK, this game is so sexy. It's going to rival FTL for my GOTY.

I do worry that the ultraviolence is going to limit its audience. I don't mind it at all, but the core gameplay doesn't necessitate it, and I wonder if they could have had broader appeal if they toned it down some.

I think the violence is what helps sell it. It's almost a point of the game to be this violent.

I am totally and completely in love with this game. Rivals The Walking Dead for game of the year for me.

If you haven't, you might want to check out the same guy's previous games. There's a ton of them, although none are as comlete and polished as Hotline Miami. Clean Asia is good. http://cactusquid.blogspot.fi/

Is there a way to remap the middle mouse/lock button? Seems like every control is remappable except that one. For some reason I just hate using middle mouse button...

Don't know, I tried the keyboard and mouse but went back to using an X360 controller. It seems best with it.

Just finished the game. So good. Haven't felt this... reflective... since finishing Far Cry 2.

Damn right. Have you seen the movie Drive?

I love this game, but it keeps crashing for me on the 10th level or so... very frustrating as those levels are super hard, so having it crash halfway through is PITA

Hunting through all those levels a second time to get the hidden letters can be quite hard, even with all those fancy new tricks that I have learned in the last third of the game.

You know, I found that it's easier to explore a level after it's cleared. Gives you enough time to really scour and look for them

No. It's number one on my "watch this" list.

I really tried to be thorough when playing through the game, but I only got I think two letters and a couple of names. They seem to be pretty well hidden indeed.

Holy crap, I just spent FOREVER on level 4 "Tension"...

The first floor just drove me nuts, but I finally did it.

If you're having trouble changing masks can help. Although there is great joy to be had from using different masks on purpose (the speed masks are insanely fun and difficult to use when firearms are involved).

I bought this on Monday. but have only been able to play it once. I just get this error every time I boot it:

Error defining an external function.

I've un-and-reinstalled, tried every suggestion I can find online...nothing. Has anyone had this issue, and managed to get past it?

I'm running on a Win 8 64 bit Lenovo Ideapad, core i7, 8GB, GTX660M.

Great little game, love running into a room & everything just flowing from one kill to the next with a melee weapon. Played it pretty constant to the end, addictive & challenging. I eventually reached the last boss (at least I think it is) with the crime lord & the two dogs. Kill them & then Mrs Assassination herself kills me every single time with the knives or the sword swipe in seconds. I've watched youtube videos of people killing her but I can't replicate it.....frustrating!

Spoiler:

I think I remember having to right click to throw whatever that thing was at her face, then go punch her. I remember having to redo that fight a bunch of times, but ultimately I don't think it took me more than 10 minutes to get it taken care of.

That was quicker than I expected, but still fun! Despite how worthless the silenced pistol is I loved using it. All I want now is a cross breed between the top-down perspective of this game and the light mechanic from Mark of the Ninja and BAM, 2D Splinter Cell. Make it happen Ubisoft.

Just beat this, and man, what a fun little game. It definitely would have made my top 10 last year if I'd played it then. Once you get a good handle on the controls, you can really get in a groove clearing the stages. It reminded me of my experiences with Super Hexagon or Super Meat Boy. Should have been called Super Hotline Miami!

I can't stop listening to this soundtrack, made my time at the gym just fly by.

Did you have the dark moment when the music stopped, and then retraced your steps over the bodies of your victims on your way back to your car?

This game is great fun. Kind of like playing an acid trip - not that I know what that's like, mind you.

Good stuff psoplayer, think I will have a bash at it now

Finished it, very good game, 2D reckless brawler with a soundtrack that suits it down to the ground. If it hadn't of been for the reviews I wouldn't have went near it purely on graphics......shame on me :p

Anyone know how to remove blood stains?
