Fall 2012 & Spring/Summer 2013 TV Catch-all

Yeah. The last Sherlock was by far the best of the season so far, and has me encouraged about the direction of the show.

Isn't the show called Elementary or something?

Finally catching up on Homeland this week. It's been fun as usual. 4 episodes left.

I'll try to get on a spring premiere list the next couple of days and update the OP.

Surely nothing premieres on New Year's Eve/Day.

Holy sh*t, what a Person of Interest.

Lost girl... Sigh.hopefully it gets better the rest of this season

Last week was no slouch either. That show's great. I can't remember a time when I enjoyed a CBS show as much. The only other current one is Survivor, and fortunately that's been getting better of late.

On a different note, I was disappointed with Elementary tonight. I didn't believe any of the emotion the episode tried, except maybe Sherlock's resolve. And the answer to Irene, even if it hadn't been spoiled in the previews (wtf?), fell absolutely flat. If I was a proper critic, and knew how to use the English better, I would really give it what-for. Considering the material covered, what a bummer.

Cougar Town is still the best sitcom on TV! Thank god for TBS picking it up!

The show is just the perfect mix of tension, humor, and action on TV. Fusco and the Armenian model was frickin' hilarious.

That was Karolína Kurková, former Victoria's Secret model.

Really, Merlin? That's how you end? Five seasons of waiting for Merlin to tell Arthur and that's how it happens? I knew I should have quit this show so much earlier.

Alright maybe I'm a week late, since some stuff started already. But here goes.

OP updated, spring schedule posted.

Obviously most excited about Community. And Cougar Town was great last week. Thanks TBS. Also looking forward to Dallas and seeing how they handle Hagman/JR death.

And this weekend the wife and I decided to watch Shameless on Showtime finally... was pretty enjoyable. So I guess we'll check out season 3 of that.

Woo Suits starts this week!

Excited for this.

Also, just caught the premiere of Justified last night. It's already so frickin great!

Boo Fringe ends this week!

After getting bombarded with annoying ads and hearing from sources I favor that The Following was the worst sort of garbage, I decided I'd check it out. Sure enough, it's the worst sort of garbage, and it's the worst sort of garbage I hate. It's the same old paranoia-stoking cheap network procedural thriller idiocy where the ultra-competent superpowered serial killer with a ridiculously florid and ornate MO is hunted by a passel of cops. There's a little meta conversation at the end, but the whole thing is so dour and po' faced, it feels accidental at best. The worst part is it seems to think it's smart.

But it's got Kevin Bacon. So my wife insisted I set it for a season pass. I haven't watched it yet, as we picked Castle because she wasn't in the mood for something tense.

We watched an episode plus 15 minutes of Deception. It's crap. It is a cheap knockoff of Revenge.

We have Ripper Street recorded, but haven't had a chance to check it out or see impressions.

There is a new cooking competition show, The Taste, which has Anthony Bourdain, so it is on the list to be checked out.

Justifed is all kinds of awesome, but I regret not watching seasons 2 and 3. Things have progressed a ton. We will have to catch up at some point, but it hasn't made it to Netflix like some other FX shows.

Wife and I caught up on Shameless.

Now we've started Downton Abbey on Amazon Prime. Really great stuff, better than I expected. I guess it has it's own thread that I've never checked out, so I'll pop over there.

Yeah, we have all of Downton Abbey to get to, too. Too much TV, too little time.

A Breaking Bad reference, a Wire reference and a Twin Peaks reference walk into an Oyster Bar... sounds like another episode of Bunheads. I think they were topping off their pop culture quota this week so we can get into some heavier material next Monday.

Caught up on Justified as well, I'm liking the lower stakes of this season after the craziness last year. Makes a nice change of pace.

The Following wasn't great, but I liked parts of it. It's interesting enough for me to keep watching and see if they go anywhere.

As well you should.

I liked it OK. Time will tell.

is it just me or is continuum brimstone without the supernatural?

Did someone say Supernatural?
IMAGE(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lj1te4pFxa1qg870qo1_250.gif)

Seriously, though, I never saw Brimstone but Continuum seems okay so far. Good but shallow popcorn tv like Stargate or Grimm. Or Supernatural, for that matter.
I feel a bit weird rooting for a main character who is trying to protect fascistic megacorporations from the evil terrorists trying to restore democracy, though.

Ok, Arrow. That may have been one twist too many.

I had high hopes for the flashback storyline after the mid season premiere. Boy was I wrong.

Grenn wrote:

Yeah, I didn't want Cmdr. John Crichton to be bad either.

The longer Suits goes on the more likable the surrounding cast is and the more unlikable Mike is. Every time I get the feeling that I'm supposed to be feeling sorry for that character they have him do like five things that are incredibly stupid/mean/immature/etc. He's just such a tool.

Also, re: Arrow, I actually laughed out loud. The voice was clearly him when they were standing in the food line. Then when they made it out like it was supposed to be a big reveal I laughed again.

Modern Family continues to deliver. Hilarious Godfather homage. And some great family stuff as always.
