SC2 Pro Tournament Discussion

whoops triple post. =/

EGTL game should be starting soon. I think the match before (Samsung vs whatever) ended like an hour late... like just now.

Yep, watching now. I agree with the casters for ProLeague... They suck! But I do like the format for the games. I was thinking about getting a GSL ticket for this next season. Code S looks interesting this year. Plus I am a Huk fan. I just hope he doesn't go out in Ro32! Anyone watching GSL this season?

korean stream. ;p

if you dont speak/understand korean you at least get to hear professionals portray real emotions.

I cant help but root for Huk myself. Id love to see him get back into the game again.

Speaking of the devil, he's up next for the next game right now in Proleague for EGTL. 1-1 against CJ Entus atm.

Spoiler:

That's it. it's confirmed. JYP is sleeping with the coaches.

Spoiler:

lol. this is getting hilarious now. CJ seems to have NO clue what hit them.

the thing, i am not sure I do either. It looks like Stephano is TOYING around with them.

pro-league stuff. rehighlighted everything into spoiler boxes cause I just realized I was pretty much 'tweetering' as the games went along.

Spoiler:

wow. stephano just f*cking played with hero like he's some scrub he met on ladder.

stephano beats his opponent.

dances with roaches.

backs off.

lets him make a deathball....

just so he can beat him anyway.

never was a real big stephano fan til now. that was bad ass.

Spoiler:

If the map is crap for Protoss, why not send Taeja or Zenio (supposedly good zvz)? Why send JYP as a last against terran, especially Flash? Sure he won some PvTs the next round but one of them didn't have any games under his name yet. Why keep Taeja against Rain in an ace? Really questionable choices from the coach

Tell me about it. The only thing the coach did that I can at least TRY to understand was

Spoiler:

the decision to send out JYP instead of Jaedong against flash (after Taeja/Hero/Revival fell)... saving his Flash-focused build reveal until his important GSL qualifier game (if not for that game he'd not even be in Wildcard group now).

but yeah, this guy is FULLL of horrible decision making (PUMA is captain of EG-TL, did you know that?). the EG-TL coach is to Starcraft... what... hmm... Paul Ince is to football management.

Also I can't help but feel a strong bias towards EG players (specifically JYP) for whatever reason. Every time Hero/Taeja should have gone out for a super important match, JYP's been sent out to trip and fall on his face.

The coach's really terrible decision making was pretty apparent whenever Ace selections came around in Round 1. In the all kill format with Round 2, it's just gonna be super obvious.

Hm. Hero's up first on Bifrost, which is kind of a crappy map for a Toss imo, and he's up against Light.

God I hate the coach.

I just came here to post this same thing after looking at the event listing on TL.

Also, really, it's one of the two Kespa maps I truly hate, Bifrost and Arkanoid. No matter who's playing, I often alt-tab out when it's these maps about 90 percent of the time. They don't represent much thought at all. In fact I think they don't represent anything in the game at all, except what I imagine was a proper mapmaker's toddler child playing with crayons on his daddy's touch pad and accidentally submitting it to Kespa.

I could be wrong, but I just think those two maps are disasters that need to be removed. + Tal Darim.

Even if you don't watch any of the rest of Code S group A, you should watch Creator vs Symbol. One game in particular is kind of amazing. Pressure/Attack from Creator starts pretty early and goes basically non-stop for an over 20 minute game. It's ridiculous. When the game finally ends the winner looks completely surprised that they actually pulled it off.

*The first game from group B between Leenock and TY is great.

*Seriously guys, This game. It's been going for 40 minutes.

lol, GSL looks sooooo bad on Free-mode though.

You get what you pay for.

You mean like FREE HD quality with a high-caliber team of truly professional commentators? >:P

ps. All that said though, I've gotta say, even just the Code A up and downs felt like they were far better quality match-ups than about half of the games in Proleague.
pps. Then again, the games HAVE been getting more exciting/better with the format shift for Round 2 in Proleague.

Actually I am totally watching now, I forgot Code S = Tastosis. I missed these guys SO much after watching Proleague in Korean (which strangely made me realize how far behind the curve most of the casting world actually are compared to Tastosis).

This is only a valid comparison if you either speak Korean or only watch Dreamhack.

I'm really tired of people whining about Gom's stream. Everybody expects everything for free and that's just not the way the friggin world works.

pfft i wasn't whining, was just making excuses. ;p

Sure sure. Just been a whoooooole lot of it this week since Code S finally started again.

People ask for better HQ stream, so they give us the EHQ which actually looks really good and in response people just revert back to bashing on the free stream. So annoying.

And the other is people throwing a fit about the flash player, which I would take over using that GOMplayer software any day.

Plus this season is actually available on Twitch.tv too.

To be frank, GOMTV's low quality stream is serviceble imo. I just go fullscreen and just see the general imagery of what's happening and mostly rely on their top-tier casters (even their Code A casters were pretty great). The thing is for all their production values, GOM's never excelled too well with clarity and fidelity, even for paid service levels. Murky, and 720p.

But for those who like to see things in higher detail, yeah you won't be able to read the numbers a lot of the time in free mode, and you may miss a small thing or two. Although GOMTV's production seems to have a LOT less artifacting than that of Proleague, which instead boasts a slightly better image quality at the same free resolutions.

Don't forget, Proleague is early tonight. 10pm EST for KT vs SKT and EG-TL vs STX scheduled for 12:30. Could be later depending on how the first match goes, but still a very watchable time for a lot of us compared to their usual times.

*DAMN YOU EG-TL COACH GUY. Go down 0-1 against Innovation. Send out... JYP. WHAT THE HELL DUDE.

*JYP tried really hard to throw that away after holding so well.

*Figures I make fun of JYP and he ends up getting the only win in the match.

Now, now. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Well, depends on the clock.

I won't get to see it due to work, but if anybody's home the finals for Iron Squid II should be live pretty soon on twitch. HD is free.

MKP/Life and Nestea/DRG I believe are the semifinal matchups.

And you can follow each player's POV/Cam here http://fr.twitch.tv/team/ironsquid

I hear MKP lost to Life and Nestea lost to DRG. I was hoping to hear about a long awaited grand finals rematch between Nestea/MKP. But then I have a lot of nostalgia built up for those early seasons of GSL. I guess a 3rd place match will have to do.

The pictures I've seen on twitter make this look like an amazing event. Pretty sad I'm not getting to actually watch it.
