The official catch-all for the PS3 RPG. Use spoiler text as necessary please!

This game looks amazing actually! I haven't played a really good JRPG in a long while! So who is recommending this so far?

Hey a proper title!

Twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the mail department at my office to get my copy sorted to my mailbox. Waiting patiently...

This game is my own personal little system seller. I'm happy I don't have a few hundred dollars or I'd have bought a PS3 this past weekend.

One hour in at this point. Love it.

I'm not so much sad that I'm going to have to wait awhile for the collector's edition to show up as that I won't be able to participate in this thread during the initial week. I've got quite a few games that I'm enjoying now to tide me over. Have fun everyone! I'll be joining in on the conversation soon.

Damn you all, you made me buy it.

Oh man it is an hour long? I don't think I have the patience. Are you anywhere near done?

Dragon Quest VIII is one of my favorite RPGs of all-time. I'd love to hear how this may be similar or different, assuming any comparisons can even be drawn.

So apparently not only did Digital River drop the ball on shipping out copies, but I also decided to swing by one of the local GameStops to see if they had any copies. Apparently the first batch they received wasn't enough to cover the pre-orders and they'll have more in stock tomorrow or Thursday.

I'm starting to think Namco-Bandai Europe made the right call in delaying a week due to "logistics issues".

Here's the Giantbomb quicklook. I'm sure there are minor spoilers.

A rather glowing review by Gametrailers

I don't think I have heard them give such a good review in a long long time.

Eagerly awaiting impressions! I can't get it right now, but I'm very much looking forward to playing this soon.

I was giving my brother a hard time about being so excited for this game..... After seeing more info about it now i'm kind of interested, I hope he doesn't find out.

There's a couple huge story spoilers in this video. If you're trying to go into this blind, avoid it.

Well, so far the install bar is quite pretty.

I've peeked at the absolutely beautiful strategy guide, and let me put it this way: It looks like Dragon Quest 8 and Pokemon had a baby, and Studio Ghibli illustrated the story about it.

I really don't think I've properly hyped myself up enough for this one.

I like Drippy a lot.

Extremely tempted to pick this up.

If you can't find it at a store, the PSN shop has it for $54.99. It is a 21.7 GB download.

Stop it! You're eroding my willpower rapidly.

I got through the "intro" sequence, and it's awesome. Truly it is like participating in a Ghibli movie. What impresses me the most is the characters, they all have their own personality that shows through immediately, just as I've come to expect from anything Ghibli touches.

Regarding Drippy:

Spoiler:

I like that he is modeled after the Discworld faeries. I keep expecting him to say "d'ya ken?"

I wish the 3DS version had made it to the US now, because this would occupy all my portable gaming time.

Man, this game is polished as heck. Everything just feels so clean. The menus are rich with info and it's presented in such an inviting manner. The game is rich in color and style whether your exploring an area, traversing the world map, fighting baddies, or just pouring over the pages of the Wizard's Companion. There a cohesiveness to all the systems that jells into quite the special package thus far.

This game sure is easy on the stupid smiles and warm tinglies it inspires.

Box quote!

Well, that officially rules out digital for me. I don't know if it's even feasible for me to have 43.4 GB free.

I have no notice of my order being canceled, nor do I have notice of it shipping, and when I go to my account, I see an order, but no order status ("in process", "shipping", etc.) and no error messages. Just... nothing to tell me if anything's happened. *Sigh*

Just the kind of useful information I was looking for

You have to have double the size to install? I thought it was just a bit of extra needed space. That's pretty lame. No digital for me either.

That's the rule of thumb I've seen thrown around a lot. I can confirm that I had ~15 GB free this weekend and tried to install Darksiders (10 GB) and could not.

Edit: Actually I couldn't download it. I will give Sony credit, at least they got ahead of the problem on that one. It would be way more frustrating to download it and then find out you can't install it.

I hate you, stop selling me on this game.
