NFL 2012 Conference Week Thread

Tom Brady looks like he's gonna cry. Harbaugh bowl confirmed!

That looks like the game to me. I'll keep it on, but I'm one Ravens score away from Dark Souls.

YEah, It's Harbowl time, I think.

This is looking absolutely prophetic:

Brady throws a pick in the end zone.

Last weeks Broncos' soul crushing loss to the ravens has been someone lessened today with the knowledge that the patriots are not going to the Super Bowl.

I think I'm with you on this one. Now I'm kind of rooting for the Ravens so that Ray Lewis can go out on top.

I was playing for halftime and the whole 4th quarter off and on. Once the Ravens were up 15 it was over.

Wow.

I hate to say it but Joe Flacco played pretty well tonight. He might not be wrong about his being one of the NFL's elite QBs.

I don't have a real rooting interest in either team, but I had already decided that I was not watching if the patriots made it. So its a win for me since I will at least watch some of the game. There is certainly something to be said about the possibility of Lewis retiring a champion, but it's going to be tough against that 49ers team.

I'm just hoping for a good, competitive game. I'm not looking forward to two weeks of lead up to the "brother bowl."

He still has games where he can't hit the side of a barn, but Eli has the same kind of games it seems.

This makes three games in a row where he has outplayed Brady. He can tend to disappear sometimes in the middle of the season. But he always seems to come up big.

Pertinent stats:

Winningest NFL coaches over the last five seasons, including playoffs: Belichick 63, John Harbaugh 62.
Playoff records since 2008: John Harbaugh 8-4, Belichick 3-4.

Elite.

I'm not sure I've ever agreed more with anything Shannon Sharpe has ever said.

Giving the Raven's defense a two score lead in the second half is sort of an open invitation to unload all manner of Biblical punishment on passers and receivers.

Winning it all is best. But as a fan, I really want my team to be built to compete each year. I would never trade one year of dominance over multiple years of excellence.

But the reality is, once the playoffs start, anyone can win, and it is far more crapshoot than test of greatness. The best position to be in is to have several shots.

As an Eagle fan I can 100% assure that the vast majority of us (call us dumb) would have gladly traded 14 years of relative success under Andy Reid to one year where we win the SB followed by 13 years of basement dwellings.

I am no expert - but did Brady bottle out of that 4th down play where he ended up throwing it away instead of putting his shoulders down and trying to make it himself. It looked like he could made it to me.

It looked like he could have made it for a second, and then it looked like he would have got hit and had to fight for it, so he threw it away instead. Great 4th down play. :p

I think he could of made it if he 100% committed to it. From the 2nd replay they show though it looks like he hesitates for a split second and within that time frame Ngata is on to it.

Not really surprising though. Brady isn't exactly known for his running ever. So yea, Aaron Rodgers gets a first down there

Congratulations 49er fans. I'll be rooting for you, hopefully for the last time, to win it all.

Should be an interesting NFC West this fall, with what appear to be 2 elite teams and a Rams team that will only get scarier as they continue to reap the rewards of the RG3 trade and hiring a great coach... I can't wait to see Kaepernick again at the Clink!

I think he didn't want to end up like RGIII.

I know a lot has been said about the Brady/Belichick legacy, not having won a Super Bowl since 2005, but if they go again this year, win or lose, they will have gone to 6 Super Bowls in 12 years. Since when does losing a Super Bowl become a bad thing? Only 2 teams make it every year, and while it's not winning the Super Bowl, shouldn't it be viewed as a tremendous achievement? Bills lose 4 Super Bowls in a row, why does that make them a bad team? I think Levy was a hell of a coach and Kelly was a hell of a QB just to make it to 4.

So with that said, if Brady and Belichick go (3-3) in the Super Bowl, how does this "tarnish" their legacy? What other QB/coach combo has gone to 6 Super Bowls? For that matter, what other coach/QB combo has made it to 5, which they have already accomplished? I think they're already an elite tandem.

Clearly they are among the Elite of football... BUT (theres always a but) you have to admit that ever since Spygate the team hasnt been its "usual" self. Not having the ability to sync (at half time) your personal video of the sidelines and coaches signals (and sounds) with the XOS system to start looking at formations and trends with playcalling has dramatically changed the Patriots in 2nd half of games.

Against the Eagles in the SB..announcers even remarked in the 2nd half that it "looked like the Patriots know what the Eagles are calling".

That and the rules changes to defensive holding pretty much negated the entire philosophy of the Patriots' secondary.

They shouldn't fret though. The Brady Center to Prevent Football Violence is still an active political force in intimidating referees.

In reference to the Harbaugh Bowl, my older brother called to tell me that the older brother always wins.

I am a Ravens fan.

I am conflicted.

Paradox!

One of my friends made a funny comment that I forgot to post last night, when they were showing old Ravens highlights from the last Super Bowl.

Ray Lewis is so old his Super Bowl highlights aren't even in HD.

Best one I saw via Twitter was something along the lines of.

"Ray Lewis will do great against Kapernick because he has so much experience against running QB's from playing in the 40's and 50's"

Watched the game replay...Brady clearly kicks out with intent..no flag and so far no fine. This is why I loath the Patriots

Yeah, I don't really get it either. To the media, it seems, getting to the Superbowl and losing is worse then not getting into the playoffs or getting eliminated early.

I think Brady hurt his throwing hand with that play. It looks like the Raven's back(not sure exactly who it is on the replay I'm looking at) lands on his throwing arm. And for the rest of the game, Brady did seem pretty shaken up, and wasn't throwing nearly as well as before.

Karma's a Female Doggo like that, sometimes.
