Monster Hunter 3 (Wii) Catch-All

Well, maybe the WiiU is the answer. That thing is essentially both a handheld and a set-top, right?

Well, save data can be migrated between the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, and cross-platform play is supported. So Ultimate really kinda is both a portable and set-top version of the game.

Anyway, trailer:

Looks like I'm going to be getting a Wii U eventually, though I already kind of suspected that.

Looks brightly colored. If, when, I pick up a Wii U this is on the list. I just wish they'd get a bigger or at least easier to read font. Hopefully having it play at 1080p will help with that.

Wow, WiiU and 3DS cross-platform multiplayer? I did not see that coming. Very impressive!

Dang. Just seeing a few new monsters really makes me think about saving up for a WiiU.

Nah, nobody has yet. I think MH Tri turned me into the biggest MH fan on GWJ, so it might make sense for me to take the reins on the new game's catch-all. I'd likely make it the thread for both 3DS and Wii U, though the lack of online play in the 3DS version will limit the activity on that side of the fence.

So, with the Japanese Wii U launch around the corner, you know what that means... The Japanese launch of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate! I think it's time, maybe?

Go for it, Blind_Evil! I believe in you!

Tri servers to be shut down April 30th, y'all. End of an era.

Voice chat and USB keyboard support are being added to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U. I don't know if Blind_Evil ever made that catch-all or not.

Edit: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Catch-All You had enough time, Mr. Evil!

Damn, I'm surprised they're shutting the doors so quickly. Makes me

I trust you to curate sufficiently, Clocky

Yeah honestly you'd think there'd be some WiiU users out there trying out MH Tri brand new now. Cutting off support that early seems more like a move to force people to buy the new one than something reflecting lack of interest.

Yeah, definitely a money-related move on Capcom's part, but I don't think there are many Wii U owners just deciding to get into MHTri. It's no skin off my nose, times must change.

Here's a bone for the conspiracy theorists: maybe Nintendo is asking Capcom to do this to get the 10k or so people that still play to buy Wii U's.

Bummer, guess that means there's a deadline for getting the most out of Tri. I'll probably start replaying in April.

I literally started this back up a week and a half ago. Towards the end of the three star quests and was about ready to head online again.

Damnit.

Isn't 3 Ultimate an expanded version of Tri? If that's the case there's no real need to rush through Tri, since Ultimate will have all the same content and more.

I'd guess he isn't looking to buy a Wii U or 3DS anytime soon.

What!? Blasphemy!

I'm still very unsure about getting a Wii U. I've never seen one in person and I bought a Wii and I probably put less than 500 hours into the system. Monster Hunter is really the selling point of a Wii U for me, but I'm not sure I want what Monster Hunter is selling anymore.

If you have a 3DS you can always use that instead, and if you change your mind you can always move your character over to the Wii U later.

But yeah, if you're burned out on Monster Hunter it might be a bit much to get a Wii U just for that.

Right in one. Between the new Pokemon, Monster Hunter, and Fire Emblem I suppose I may get a 3DS this year, but probably not. I'm also less inclined to go that route if I feel like I've been burned on the MH3 multiplayer. I haven't decided yet if that's the case though, timing is definitely fishy though.

OK, I jumped into Tri just briefly today, and I think I might be ready to come out of retirement and play a bit of Tri before it all goes away and I don't get to play my character anymore...

So can you add my Hunter Info to the top please?

If anyone wants to hunt with a rusty hammer user, let me know! (I'm HR52)

I would, but somebody else has my copy right now.
