Guild Wars 2 Catch All

And so the bleeding commences.. one of the main Os commanders just confirmed that a bunch of our smaller overnight guilds just jumped ship to Kaineng and other servers last night.

Edit: ugh, apparently this now also includes Meow.

So the last nails that prevent us from sliding completely down to the bottom are taken out. Wonderful. I hate it We can't play on a server that allow people to play with a good community and fully enjoy the game at the same time. I am really considering transferring soon here.

Isle of Janthir (tier 3 server; was tier 2 four weeks ago) just lost 13 WvW guilds in two days, 9 of which joined a single server (Fort Aspenwood). This hard Jan 28th deadline is causing temporary chaos for long term stability.

I have a vaguely related question. If you've built a guild vault on server A and move to server B, you lose normal access to the contents of the vault. If you guest back to A would you be able to see and use the vault?

I believe so, based on how the devs described the guesting, and this would be a way around the issue of moving our bank inventory.

However this hasn't been officially confirmed

Well, I just got here, so I'm not moving plus I don't really care about WvW ( but that may because I haven't tried it ). I'm EXTREMELY casual with a really, really, really bad case of altitis, so for me the PvE content is enough. I never could get into PvP in games. Makes me too nervous LOL

Ok so since this is both a hot button issue and a time sensitive one, let's try to discuss it(here and in game) over the weekend. Let's hear what you guys and gals think.. pros/cons of moving or staying put, where we could move, suggestions, etc..

Cons for moving:

We lose all our guild upgrades and accumulated influence. This would involve some inventory problems as we need to find temp storage for that stuff.
Being a casual guild, many of our players log on infrequently. Many of them could return in 2 weeks to find the guild moved and faced with having to pay to transfer over to our new home.
    Everything is still in flux.

Cons for staying:

    Our WvW population is collapsing.

If those who want to be competitive in WvW wish to move, I'll move with the guild because you guys are a great group to play with. But I'm of similar opinion with Cragmyre. I'm here for the PvE. I've tried WvW two or three times, but never fully grasped it.

With Guesting, we can still PvE while being on different servers. Honestly, I think it would be a mistake, given the nature of the guild, to move the guild. We have a core of active players but allot of people that Log on Less frequently. WvW is of varying importance to members.

What might be nice, if there is enough people that decide to move to more fully enjoy WvW, is to pick a common server to move to and operate as Lost Souls or form a sister guild.

For me, WvW is just something I want to enjoy as part of the game along with PvE and sPvP. Not everyone feels that way and that is great. It is a tribute to AN that they can create a diverse enough experience that you can legitimately pick and choose.

I haven't had much time to put my thoughts together on the matter, but I believe that with the size and nature of our group the position that makes the most sense is staying put. The guild's player base has grown over the holidays with new and returning players and I want to continue building on that.

However, I recognise that we have already "lost" some players because WvW on NSP is decidedly sub par. For players for who a solid WvW experience is very important, 'm not sure there are many solutions that dont involve moving. That being said it seems that the WvW situation is very fluid at the moment so moving without good/complete info is a risky gambit. With Os seemingly still dedicated to NSP it may not be as unlikely as we think that one or two other "good" guilds would come and try to build something here (but dont hold your breath).

Since the transfers are still free, I'll be moving next week just to finish my Map Completion. I need Blue Base in WvW, and we haven't been blue for quite a while.

Recommendations on what server I scout out?

Blue Servers Estimate:
Kaineng
Anvil Rock
Maguuma
Fort Aspenwood
Stormbluff Isle
Jade Quarry

I am thinking Fort Aspenwood. I would like to know what it's like to be on an organized wvw server again. I am planning on moving back at this point, but experience will be the judge.

Don't forget that even the free transfer have a 7 day cool down, so this Sunday is the last day to transfer somewhere and still be able to transfer back for free before the cut-off.

Go to FA - they just got a solid influx of players from IoJ, and have been a blast to play against for the past month. (I'm on Crystal Desert). They have some really solid commanders, and almost always keep us on our toes.

Given that guilds transcend servers, a core of your WvW players could migrate to a different server and the guild could continue to exist as is. You can still do guild dungeon runs with a spread out population... just meet up in a common overflow - it's pretty easy to arrange.

Yeah, the matchup rotates so you will be able to get those borderlands eventually. Might want to play it safe unless you want to be trapped.

I think NSP is low pop so trasferring back will cost you, just not as much as other places, I think.

I don't know much about WvW, but if I were a big WvW guild thinking of switching, I would wait until the day before the free transfers are turned off and transfer then

I love WvW. I would play WvW all the time. I don't even mind losing, if we've got a good group, and I'm not dying right out of the portal. (This last week was just crushing and hard to watch, and I'm trying to not let it influence my long term plans.)

I say this, because I am one of the GWJ constant wuvers. I've built alliances with other guilds; some of which have left, some of which have disbanded because of leaving; and a few commanders I may try to poach if Os doesn't get them first, since their guilds broke up.

But...I also have my personal guild (Deva) on NSP, because I wanted more bank space, and my son's personal guild (SITH) is on NSP, because he wanted his own guild; and who am I to say no to a Sith Lord?

Thus, now that I know that guilds upgrades don't move with the guild; it added the final brick to the side of the scale that tipped me towards staying put on NSP.

Here are the other considerations I weighed:

Likelihood of losing GWJ members because moves are chaotic.
Having to rebuild the GWJ architecture
Likelihood that guesting won't work the way they think it will, and losing the ability to play with my friends until they figure it out. (Which, based on invisible zergs in wvw, could take months.)

And finally; I don't want to play for another "team". NSP is where I learned WVW, and frankly, I've been killed by most of those other servers. I don't want to play for *their* team, I want to dance on their twitching corpses. (Yes, yes I am that sort of necro. Why do you ask?)

TL;DR: I'm staying in NSP. They can take our zergs, but they shall never take our ... erm... dignity? no that's not it...pride?...no, no... oh yeah, dead decaying corpses out of Stonemist! I will die there, forever!

you can expect a lot of that... and they will be secretive which complicates the situation for smaller guilds like us. (btw we are near 70 active members).

Ya, tracking the various conversations on the official forums and guru right now feels a lot like the week before release when the big communities and guilds were planning which server to set-up on.. right up to last minute changes and convoluted fake-outs.

Dang looks like I chose a chaotic time to consider moving to the GWJ guild server. I am currently on Eredon Terrace, have so far mostly played PvE and have been guildless and have mostly solo'ed. I was willing to move to NS sever to join the guild and have folks to play with but now with all this talk of WvW issues (which I know very little about) and guild possibly moving etc I don't know what I should do...?

Eredon Terrace is in even worse shape than us when it comes to WvW... it's actually the worst server in the entire game.

On the upside, it looks like NSP has a really good reputation for PVE.. hopefully that can lead to us picking up other PvX guilds.

Old Goat, I think it's likely that the vast majority of GWJ will stay on NSP. Come on over, we accept you, one of us!

I was also recently thinking about moving to NSP to be with everyone but I think I might stay where I'm at.

Some friends and I are currently on Sanctum of Rall. I don't do a whole lot of WvW but the few times I have it's been fun. There's been times where I've been part of the zerg that's crushing other and times where we've been the crushed.

I think I'm currently the only person in GWJ on this server so if anyone wants to move to a more active WvW server feel free to join me.

I figured I can stay where I'm at for now and guest over to NSP when I want to do the PvE with everyone else.

Thanks, I appreciate that...now to figure out how to do it...I'm guessing there is a way to make this choice on the character selection screen?

Yes. There's a "World Selection" button at the bottom of that screen.

There's a button that says "World Selection" on the bottom left, right next to the log out button. Server pop is listed as how full it is currently, so if NSP is full now, wait a bit and try again.

I would be extremely surprised if we ended up moving to at all. NSP seems like a pretty good server for our needs.

The WvW situation this week is especially bad because kaineng is a blip, but when the matchups are stable it seems pretty palatable for the casual WvW folk. For anyone looking to transfer for wvw reasons... i think maguma might be decent we have a couple of GWJ lost souls on there. It's pretty impossible to predict which servers will be affected by guild migrations so caution is advised.

Server was listed as Very High but I got transferred over OK. Now I just need an invite. My account name (if thats what they call it) is Oldgoat.7058
Thanks all for helping out.

Hey OldGoat, I don't have invite privileges, but when I log on tonight, I'll see if any officers are on and mention that you need an invite. They can send the invite even if you're offline and it'll be there under your guild tab (g in game) for you to accept.

That works...thanks

If I had more time to play games, I would be all over this game. Man, so much to play in the pile! (But I'll hope in from time to time)
