Random thing you loathe right now.

I loathe the fact that my beloved husband Rubb Ed was laid off today from his job.

Of course, it was the same old song and dance. "It isn't you. It's us. We accidentally created a similar job somewhere else and so we don't need you. But here's $5.00 and a pack of Mentos for your eight years of service. Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Please keep Rubb in your thoughts and prayers.

Boooo!!! (hugs)

Goodjer hit squad assemble!

Yeah... was just coming in here to post my loathe that I'm officially a Gamer.

(i.e. no Job to go with it)

But you know, I'm just gonna suck it up and get myself a better job. At the very least, this is a kick in the ass from the Universe at large to start doing stuff. I'm turning 40 in a few months, and dammit, I am not spending my 40s in a job I don't like. Not. Happening.

Having said that... anyone looking for a trainer with a tech background in the Orange County area perchance?

Ah crud, that really, really sucks. I'll be sending some positive energy your way, hope you find something you enjoy in the very near future!!
(wish I could help, but I'm a continent away )

According to your location, you're a bit further away than that.

Sorry to hear that, buddy. Perhaps a chance to be closer to Phoenix, at the least?

Per his twitter:

Don't stop believing.

I wonder if he can sue?

Minimum thresholds on employer discounts.
I did a whole bunch of rejiggering on my Verizon plan in anticipation of a phone upgrade, and in the process got offered a lower cost plan that closer matches my actual usage... Does it still qualify for my Employer Discount? Let me check... Yes! And you can switch my data-plan to your tiered plan so that I can upgrade without being forced into a shared-everything plan? Yes! And I will still get my Employer Discount on those? Let me check... Yes! (actual quote) "Lower cost plan, eligible for my employer discount... Are there any downsides that I might be missing with this change?" No.

Day of the switch: Uhm, my employer discount isn't showing up online, but the registration page says my account is already in the discount program? Probably an accounting lag, the system will catch up by your first bill. If it doesn't, give us a call back and we'll fix it.

Day of the bill: No discount... Me: What's up? Them: Oh! Your plan has to cost at least $35 to qualify for the discount and the 2GB Data tier you are on has never qualified for a discount. Would you like to switch to the higher tier?

Loathe is probably a little strong... but I have 200 minutes vs 450 (which I don't ever really use), no equipment insurance, 2GB data vs unlimited (which I would only have had for a few more months and also never really used), and a new phone... for $5 less than I was paying before all of that hassle.
At least so far it looks like they have neglected to charge me the $30 upgrade fee, but I fully expect that to hit on my next billing cycle.

Edit: Oh and best of luck in the Job Hunt, Rubb Ed!

Mad props for positive attitude, dude. Knock 'em dead, tiger!

I'm with you! You deserve better and now you have extra external motivation to make it real.

Hugs!

Probably. The lyrics are owned my Sir Mix-a-Lot (or whoever controls his copyright), but the song was an original composition.

The arrangement is so close to Jonathan Coulton's that he even thinks they stole parts of his recording. (...and I didn't listen to the whole thing, but I guess they kept in the "Johnny C" part. Pretty nice, Glee.)

The Sandy Hook Truther crap just keeps getting worse; linked TYT on youtube probably NSFW.

Yeah, I'm not even going to watch that. This kind of sh*t makes me angry enough to punch a donkey.

Proposition Joe died IRL. Really sucks:

So after spending like 4 hours trying to fix something on my car that should have taken 15 minutes (O2 sensor) I finally give up and asked for help from my brother; who fixed it in about 10 minutes. Clear the codes and then before I even get out of the auto part store parking lot the check engine light comes back on with two new errors. This time they are for non-user serviceable issues. Time for a newer car I think.

Heart goes out to the Musial family tonight. One of, if not the, Greatest Cardinals Ever Stan 'the Man' Musial passed away tonight. What a guy and what a ballplayer.

Withdrawal symptoms.

I'm an emotional wreck. Spent last night alternatively furious at my wife for something utterly innocuous and sobbing uncontrollably.

Hope to f*ck this is just a transitional thing, and not going to stick around.

I hope things get better for you soon, Jonman. *hugs*

Co-workers who send emails to the CEO about something I f*cked up before checking to see that I actually made a mistake.

Spoiler:

I didn't.

Then, when she got raked over the coals by our boss for jumping the chain of command with unverified bullsh*t, she apologizes sweetly and says that she and I should set aside some time to work out our "communication issues".

Is it legal to light a co-worker on fire if they really have it coming?

Set aside some time in your schedule to tell her "Quit being such a ****."

Done. Communication issues resolved.

No, he actually resolved the issue, as opposed to just sitting there like a lemon. He'd never last in HR with an attitude like that.

Well with as many HR violations as Q-Stone has to his name, I would assume he knows more than most HR career people.

Thanks, sugartits.

I loathe that I have another eight hours of testing tomorrow, after enduring eight hours of straight testing today. I did a bit of math during a moment of downtime, and I figured that I evaluated about 320 patient problems today, each with 3-4 paragraphs of history, labs, and physical findings. I get to do another 3-4 hours of that tomorrow, followed by four hours of a 'choose-your-own-adventure' set of 12 patient scenarios.

The final USMLE step is a rite of passage for every MD in the USA, but holy hell am I going to be glad to be done with it tomorrow. It's not that it's super difficult, but it's just an exam that grinds you down.

Sorry to hear that Rubb Ed. But great attitude. Hold on to that and you'll be back in the saddle in no time.

And if you don't find your trainer position, we always have need of a Chief Namer of Things at Ravenwood. Just let me know.
