Self indulgent parent thread

Since my wife will never come onto this forum I am safe to write about what happened last night.

My daughter is a light sleeper.

Last night my wife farted and it woke my daughter up. My wife woke up after my daughter was woken up and could not understand my uncontrollable laughter. When she finally understood she and I had a good laugh for about 15 minutes until my daughter was fed and went back to bed.

Moral of the story - No more beans.

My son got a letter today congratulating him on being awarded a Presidential Scholarship to his university of choice.. It's worth 50% of his tuition. Mom and Dad are quite proud.

Wow! That is a very good acomplishment.

My daughter took her very first free standing step today. "One small step for Teagan, one giant leap forward for cat terror"

She insists she said "One small step for a Teagan" and that the baby monitor didn't pick it up.

If she gets around like my little guy the cats are safe for the next year or so. Just because she can walk doesn't make her fast and the cats will learn quickly to avoid her. Well that is what the cats here have learned.

My cats like to taunt her by pretending to be still and letting her get close, they run away when she is within grabbing distance. :S

The big question has been asked, and the answer was yes. My elder daughter is engaged!

Congrats!

My 3.5 year old announced today that she intends to marry Sonic the Hedgehog "when she's a big girl". Originally she wanted to marry Dr. Robotnic (Eggman) so I asked what had changed. It appears "Dr Mabotnic is a baaaad guy," and "I don't like the bad guys Daddy". Dear lord I hope she sticks to that point of view when she's older...

Mini Mono was having a good time pillaging the high seas in his new wagon that he got for Christmas.

He looks like he's having a blast!

The really awesome part is that he can add 'in the castle where I grew up' to pretty much any statement about his play time.

Don't think I've mentioned it anywhere else yet, but my wife and I are expecting Baby #2 around the end of July! Looks like he/she will arrive within a week or two of our daughter's birthday. Wife is not quite as sick as she was with our first, but still isn't feeling too well. We're hoping it starts turning around in the next few weeks as we'll be past the first trimester then. Anyways, I'll post some more info as we get it.

Any idea on getting a "parental surrogate"fitter especially snugly babies? My Elizabeth is 10 weeks old and is is though to get anything done, she Qantas to be held allot, which wouldn't be bad, but it's tough to try anything requiring two hands when one if them is keeping your daughter happy. I tried waiting until she falls asleep, but she wakes up within a few minutes of not physically holding her.. She'll sleep if my arm is under get head or if I have my arm around her as she sleeps on the floor next to me (I've taken to dragging a comforter out and just using it as a place to lay down with her). Other than that she is the most adorable baby ever.

Nice object lesson in how hard it is to get things done with one free hand. Your phone's autocorrect includes Qantas?

As soon as 7314 hit 8 lbs (~3 weeks), we had her in the Baby Björn. Awake, she wouldn't really last in there for more than an hour, if that, but for an infant who Qantas to be held a lot, it was a huge help. At the time, she napped from 7pm-9pm, so every evening we'd put her in the Björn and then I'd stand in front of the TV, bouncing up and down and playing Skyrim.

My wife also swore by her Peanut Shell sling, which she got off Craigslist for $15. It's really snug, and 7314 loved to nap in it when she was small enough. It comes in a manly colour (black, the manliest colour) if that's a concern. Ours is pink and brown, and I would have worn it around the house but it was too small for me, so the Björn was my go-to.

Otherwise, I just got really good at grabbing things with my feet.

I think this was taken on the second or third day of day care, her feelings of which are obvious.

...is that a smile or a scream of agony? Hard to tell from here.

I was thinking that too,.

Definitely a smile, she loves day care.

So without missing a beat, right after I took the pic he says
" Can I see?"

I leaned over to show him then caught myself and sent him the dagger eyes

Tricksy little hobbitses, they are!

To my wife's horror I handed my 15 month old son a wireless xbox controller and his hands immediately assumed the correct position and started twiddling the thumb sticks.

Such a proud moment in a daddy's life. *wipes away a tear*

Whoa! Our daughter taking her first selfie at just shy of seven weeks!

My daughter, at the age of 4, starting playing Mario U with me at the weekend. She has been watching me play Mario and Zelda games for a couple of years, but she has now graduated to Gamer Status.

My wife, who repeatedly flunked Basic Training before giving up on gaming, is pretty disgusted with the whole business. I can't wait until by boy is old enough to play as well.

Adorable!

I realized today that I'm gaining the weight back that I lost from the last time my wife was pregnant. Anyone else go through this?

Last night, my wife asked my daughter "We're there any other little children like you there?"

My daughter, thoroughly indignant, replied "There are no other little children like me!"

Baby #2 has now turned 3 months old. Don't think I've posted any pictures yet.

That's it. We're done. Don't want to be outnumbered. Baby factory is now closed.
