Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

The Dice Tower has a kickstarter up. Blew through their goal on the first day, and are well on their way to their $30,000 stretch goal.

Formula E, the hand-management elephant racing game designed by André Zatz, Sergio Halaban and Bruno Faidutti.

Obviously the title caught my attention when I saw the ad on BGG, then I saw Bruno Faidutti's name, and finally I started reading about it:

The manner in which the Elephants move along the track is unique among race games. Elephants must move forward if possible and, in doing so, they will push any other Elephants ahead of them in the same lane. If the lane ends, or if a Holy Cow obstacle is in the way, then an Elephant moves sideways, again pushing other Elephants in its path, until forward motion is once again possible. An Elephant cannot move diagonally unless a Mango Juice card has been played to modify its movement. A Magic Carpet card will allow an Elephant to move OVER Elephants in the same lane, and a Charge card will allow an Elephant to push Holy Cows as if they were Elephants. An Elephant can only move backwards if it has been frightened by another player using a Mouse card.

Elephant meeples and deliberately colour-blind friendly design. It's only running for 21 days, with less than two weeks to go now.

Not to mention they just revised the stretch goals

The OG goals were basically additional translations, with nothing being added to the game until 2x funding at $50k. Now there's upgrades to pieces (cobra chips become cobra meeples) coming quickly, and they're burying the translations.

With all of these crazy Kickstarters for RPG accessories like dice towers, game boards, and metal dice, has anyone seen anything Magic (TCG) related?

There is another custom sleeves kickstarter in the works:

otherwise the last thing I saw was the life counter/dice rings.

A year too late for me. Went from a regular listener to not being able to stand Vasel.

...yeah, that sounds like a Bruno Faidutti game all right.

I made that transition several years ago. While I like that he puts a lot of stock in a game being fun, he just started coming across as nothing but an industry cheerleader where "EVERYTHING I PLAY IS SUPER GREAT" way too often.

You guys are my tribe. Can't understand the popularity.

Maker Guide Book

This looks interesting to me only because I have always wanted to get into the "maker" movement.

I keep him in my YouTube subscriptions feed so I can see what's been released and what is getting buzz. You're right about taking his opinions with a grain of salt, Mr Vasal's tastes and my own are plainly different, but that's true when listening to any reviewer.

Tunnels and Trolls

Yes, really.

Whoa. I GM'd that once or twice. Freaky.

Flying Buffalo! I loved those guys' games!

I even made a pilgrimmage to their store in Scottsdale once.

I was playing Catan last night, for the first time in ages, and forgot how annoying it can be to have the tiles slide around. So, I found this Hexels thing on kickstarter. It's a set of frames, with magnets in the edges, to hold the game pieces together.

I'm on the fence about ordering. The price is right, but do I order a 3-4 player set or the 5-6 player set?

Ooo, I want those Pandemic tokens. *makes grabby motions*

Those look super cool, but I'm just a bit tired of Catan accessories on Kickstarter...

Hmm, might be worth it - those tokens are $40 + shipping at Litko

It's a $30 add-on to any Dice Tower pledge, so that'll save some cash.

I'm also currently in for packs A,B,F although that might change depending on what the BGG store puts up for sale soon. I'll gladly pass along any promos that we don't end up using.

The reaper folks posted a video of what you get with their kickstarter.

Hey, these guys got funded.

This is a joke, right?

Can't tell if serious or seriously trolling...

If you are not capable of contributing to this innovative and ground breaking concept, but are as exited as we are, feel free to make noise about our campaign in your own social surroundings.

Interesting typo

The jingle at the end of their video... and also the whole thing. wat? (but mostly that jingle)

So I am officially addicted... contributed to 4 projects last night... I have only contributed to 5 over the last year.

For my wife who stands all day at work.

Needed a new wallet...

I want this to be my hobby...

Neat... maybe I have a problem...

Yeah, i kinda went big prior to the holidays. The cool thing is I should have some neat toys showing up shortly, like a new quadcopter, a robotics building set, and some electronic experimenters kits.
