NFL 2012 Divisional Week Thread

I've decided that this game is still Brady vs Manning (Daniel).

Manning is killing it today, no doubt.

How does Houston not have a hurry-up offense?

The same reason they don't have a defense that can get in place by the time the play clock runs out.

Man, I am way to excited considering we need two more TDs in 5:11.

Andre Johnson!

That was close.

Wow they should have got that onside. Great bounce.

I thought we had it. Alas.

Interesting that they did the math on a double-conversion.

Worst part about this game? The Texans? No, Phil Sims filling the air with useless talk as the action going on is unimportant.

Phil Simms is always the worst part of anything

I can get behind that.

This is the slowest hurryup ever.

And someone should explain to Simms that 13 > 10.

Simms is terrible. Get rid of him.

No lie.

Can I point out that we came closer to winning the second round last year, with TJ Yates at the helm?

Best part of today was the Gonzalez postgame interview. I swear it was like he was 13 again. I couldn't be happier that he finally got a playoff win after such a great career. I wish it could have been with the Chiefs, but I will be rooting for him and the Falcons to make it to the Super Bowl next week, even if I think SF will win that game.

Nantz is really channeling a lot of passive aggressive anger at Simms here.

It's like an unhappily married couple where one of them forgot about an anniversary.

Nantz and Sims are supposedly their top team.

Kind of like Buck and Aikman at FOX.

Makes you wonder how they judge quality at these networks. (Judging by their prime time shows... poorly).

It sucks that Gronk is out but a Patriots - Ravens game is always a good one.

Based on all the ones I've watched

what are the vegas odds on a harbaugh bowl?

about 6-7:1....

more so because of the Baltimore side. Line opened at -9.5 which seems to high.

I expect NE to win but down Woodhead? + Gronk and playing a veteran team like Balt I could see it being close. NE could win by 10 but I doubt its a blowout stroll in the park.

Hahahahaha!!!! Oh sorry, *wipes tears from eyes*... you were serious...

So took a day to cool off and sorry if I got mad yesterday at people rubbing in the Seahawks loss. I'm a total lurker in the sports section but figured that the same rules of Goodjers being cool to other Goodjers still apply here. I'm not one of those Seahawks fans (or players if you're Sherman) whose let recent success go to my head and then shoot my mouth off.

At any rate, I have no idea who to root for next week. Don't particularly want to root for Atlanta but also not a huge 49ers fan.

This is why people don't like Pete Carroll

It's cool to call a last second time out to ice the kicker, but it's not cool for the kicker to go ahead and kick it for practice. Whatever you say Pete.

Well, he's saying that he was told by officials before the game that a "practice kick" wouldn't be allowed to happen in that scenario.

Which is a totally unreasonable thing to expect, so why are the officials going around saying that they're going to be able to do so?

If I were a coach, I would have tested it and then called them on it too.

They do. Saying something bad about the Seahawks is not a personal attack on you.

Hey, there were those 3 playoff wins in the 10 seasons of Marty.

I did make a crack about it being better that the Seahawks lost a close one after the comeback and it being more heartbreaking for their fans that way. Guess that was close to the line. But as a division rival fan I'm allowed to hate everything about the team right?

In the future I'll try to keep my Seattle comments focused on what an asshole Pete Carroll is, how dirty the defense plays, what jerks they are for running up the score by faking punts up 40, how their stadium likes to cheat pumping in fan noise, and how great it is for the 49ers to beat them and win the division every year.

This is freaking sports. It's understood that every negative thing we think of a rival's fans is irrational and irrelevant to the real world. Also, every positive thing we think about fans of our favorite teams is the same.

It's all about pretending that if the guys wearing the colors we like beat the guys wearing the colors that we don't like, it has some sort of benefit to us. It's fun, but we all know it's make-believe, right?

Except for Raider fans. Those guys are scary.
