NFL 2012 Divisional Week Thread

Well that was quick. Being a fair-weather football fan has some plusses. I think I'm heading to the beach, though I should probably stay home and do some yard work.

Has any reason been given why they scheduled the game with a west coast team for 1:00pm eastern, while making the 4:30 game a central and eastern team? Seems like it would have been more fair to do the opposite.

I thought going for it on 4th and 1 was a good decision, it was just a bad play called.

They do it week after week all season long.

Just how they schedule the games. NFC gets Saturday night and Sunday morning. I assume the league would rather have Seattle with a morning game than a short(er) week.

At least I can get one pick in before kickoff.

Patriots

Should have kicked the Field Goal. Too early in the game to be going for it on 4th & 1.

Pete Carroll is a cocky SOB.

Never too early to go for it on 4th and 1. Kicking = playing to not lose. Always.

Going for it on 4th & 1 can be a sign of desperation. Statistically speaking it's better to leave the field with points than no points.

Bet they wish they kicked that field goal now.

Really? Are you seriously going there? Any and EVERY big championship game for every sport for the last 20+ years and forever more have every east coaster staying up until after midnight, while the West Coast gets to go to bed at a comfortable hour the night before a work day.

Sorry if I don't feel bad that you have to start watching football at 10am.

Did something give you the impression this is about me getting up early or even being on the west coast? Especially when my location says Ohio? I was talking about fairness of competition with the teams, not audience viewing habits.

Julio Jones is really good.

I didn't see the location tag, I just assumed, particularly since they do this more often than not. They had the locations and times set before games were even played last week. The NFC will play at 3:00 next week and the AFC game at 6pm. Mind you, the NFC game is in San Francisco, and the AFC game could be in New England. I know they flip flop the championship games every year, last year the NFC game was at 6:30pm in San Fran.

*EDIT*
I don't see Seattle coming back from this one. I laughed at Bradshaw when he said Seattle was in the same exact position last week.................I guess down 14-0 after 1 quarter is just like being down 20-0 after 1 half.

Niners-Falcons ought to be interesting.

And now we have a game.

That's some pretty weak D.

Bad decisions on Offense. I have no idea why the Falcons are trying to throw down field. At this point of the game the focus should be burning up the clock.

Did Atlanta forget it's tackle football?

Man...

Spoke too soon. I think I broke my rule of never underestimating Russell Wilson.

Update: 3 and out for Falcons ... I'm liking the Hawks' chances.

FTFY.

Still surprised it wasn't pass interference on the INT. The WR gets blocked and pushed off balance by the CB and the Saftey makes the catch, just a foot away. If the WR doesn't get stopped he at least makes a play on the ball. Pretty usual for Seattle though. Grab, hold, push, every single play... they won't call them all.

Back to what I was saying about Seattle's CB getting free passes on gang rape of wide receivers...

Call it the reverse Brady rule.

I wish pass interference was non-called like that at all times.

Let DBs and receivers push-and-shove each other downfield. This ain't basketball.

Seriously. If they won't call all the push offs and stuff receivers pull as tight as they do defenders, loosen it up for both of them.

Wow, Wilson made a play there. Impressed with his poise and presence.

Holy cow Russell Wilson!!

Exactly. Bring back the likes of Lester the molester Hayes.

Lynch is really good at fumbling today.

His teammates saved him there.

Wow, this is just crazy. Up 27-7, there's no way Atlanta should have let Seattle back in this game. I think Lynch JUST crossed the goalline before he fumbled. Atlanta should hope that too, since any less time, they might not be able to get down the field to try a GW-FG.

nvm.

Perfectly said.

If I were named NFL commissioner, my first act would be to repeal the "Mel Blount rule".

Legion's FF team name next year, "Bump and Run."

Should we tell him what he's missing?

Wow... I can't believe what I just saw. Blowing a 20 point lead in half of a playoff game.

What's that choking noise?

Great drive by the Seachickens, and then a huge break down on defense.
