What a fantastic piece of content.

It was good, but I still say that the PS3 downloadable content for Bioshock was the best DLC for that series. It was so good when you are going for the trophies. It's sad that it was PS3 exclusive.

This makes me sad - again. Bioshock 2 remains the one GFWL game that I cannot get to run on my system.

What were the steps you took to try and get it working? I'm guessing you dumped hours into it already. That's so weird. I suggest giving it another shot, or trying a new computer.

You can just link me to the Bioshock 2 thread. I want to read the assumed rant that took place.

So I got Bioshock 2 gifted to me during the Steam sale. Looking at the store page, I don't see any mention of Minerva's Den, or any DLC available. Is it already included? If not, I may just jump on the Xbox sale and get it there.

As mentioned above, you have to buy the Minerva's Den DLC through GFWL -- you can't get it through Steam. You can get it here.

Awesome, thanks!

I had that problem on release. I thought turning off the Steam Overlay fixed it. Some conflict between that and GFWL. But also after Bioshock 2 patched I didn't have the problem anymore.

Have had issues with Dark Souls and GFWL crashing too, on signin. It didn't like the forced fullscreen windowed mode I was using, so toggling that off to sign in and then back on after fixed my problem there.

Another game... hm, either Bioshock 2 or Dawn of War 2 when I went back to play it again months later?... wouldn't run even though it had before. In that case I had to manually get the GFWL installer from the Microsoft site. The game that wouldn't run apparently didn't have an update check for GFWL, aside from when you first install it.

But it will work with the Steam one right? I picked up the Desert to Sea bundle at Amazon the other day and I was wondering if this will work properly.

"Content" in this context is pure marketing-speak. A part of me died when the phrase "downloadable content" entered the mainstream. "Expansion" or "expansion pack" was already widely used and sufficient, although I guess that term was for PC games. So I blame the consoletoys, as I always do. =)

The new "Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition" will include both Bioshocks and all of their expansions for one price, but no definitive word on the PC (or Steam) release date, if any. I already own both base games on Steam, but it seems like a roll of the dice whether or not the GFWL store version will even work. Or if the GFWL store transaction process itself will work, for that matter.

I blame games blogs and their readers for uncritically adopting PR speak, and introducing my two most-loathed, empty words, "content" and "consume".

I used to play video games, watch movies, read books, and listen to music. Now I consume content.

Preach it! Every time I hear a talking head going on about how people are 'consuming media', I die a little inside.

Moar video game deals, less...whatever you guys are talking about

I second that motion.

Is Minerva's Den really that good?

*ducks and runs*

FTL $5 sale again. Steam weekend deal, but also the developer site is matching and if you buy there you get a Steam code anyway.

Yoink!

Somehow I missed this: Imperialism 2 out on GoG. $6 gets you another one of the best games ever made.

Nice! I completely missed this series in my youth, and have been curious about it ever since the Three Moves Ahead folks started raving about it. Is it tough to learn?

And of weak moral character. Possibly the best DLC ever.

Some people don't like Minerva's Den. Those people disgust me.

Never played it. Heck, haven't even played Bioshock.

Has there ever been a sale on Minerva's Den on PC?

PandaEskimo wrote:

It goes on sale for $5 at the GFWL Microsoft Xbox Marketplace once every few months or so. I was hoping to buy it from GameFly since they're not Microsoft, but I've never seen it on sale there. As far as I know those are the only two places to buy it. You can set up a watch on Follow That Page or a similar service to see when the price changes.

Actually, it looks like it's on sale right now. It somewhat galls me that it costs the same as Bioshock 2 for me, but $5 isn't much to complain about. (And it's never been cheaper.) I'll definitely pick it up once I start and/or finish Bioshock 2.

Edit: Looks like it's due to the 2K sale that ends January 14th.

I had a whole long write-up that answered this question in depth, but decided to go with the TL;DR version: They are tough to learn (although I remember 2 being easier to learn than 1), but worth it if you are interested in really good TBS games. Imperialism is one of the very very few games I ever bought a strategy guide for:

IMAGE(https://dl.dropbox.com/u/281072/2013-01-11_06-51-06_335.jpg)

(sorry for the crappy picture). It has been a long time since I played Imperialism 2; I remember it being easier because the UI was slightly better.

King's Bounty: Warriors of the North is on sale for $7.49 at Green Man Gaming. Thought you should know.
