Gaming Glasses

As of lately, I have been dealing with a lot of eye strain and headaches resulting from that. I need something to address this issue that does not involve getting off the computer. Anyone know of good glasses that are relatively cheap? Thank you for your time.

Have you had your vision checked recently?

Dammit, you tease. For a minute, I thought you had a scoop on the next virtual boy.

Got a spare $1,500?

Not since early 2011, I am afraid.

Even if your insurance does not cover it, I might suggest it. Intense eye pain and strain like that sounds like you need to have it checked. That is unless your monitor is belting out the light of a white dwarf.

I second the recommendation to get your eyes checked out. After that, you can look into something like Gunnars (which come in prescription variants as well).

Gunnars also go on sale at tech.woot.com regularly. Last time there were a few pairs for under $30.

+1 to an eye exam first though.

I'll wait until third gen.

Thanks for the replies. I'll see about a vision test!

My friend has Gunnars and says they work for him.

Maybe I'm not looking at this site correctly, what exactly do they do that regular glasses don't?

I like Thin_J's post on Gunnars in this thread.

No idea. They're basically some kind of specialized filter from what I can tell.

Amber lenses are atypical and help increase contrast with out jacking screen brightness way up, and they do high-quality glare reduction. They are comparable to quality snow goggles, from what I've heard, and monitor/fluorescent light is fairly comparable to snow glare. The non-amber lenses/coatings are similar to the stuff that you can get applied to most lenses in terms of glare-reduction, just a high-end version.

I have a pair of Gunnars... I wear them when i play shooters now. It was getting where i was squinting all the time and the strain was giving me problems. With the glasses the squinting is gone.
