Cyberpunk Catch-All

Here, I'll get you started.

Coincidentally, I had Blade Runner's soundtrack queued up in iTunes today before that trailer was posted.

I think I should have more personal responsibility. Thanks, CD Projekt RED!

Terrible teaser, I think.

I'm trying to understand who that is in the end of the trailer. Is it implying that the android girl that murdered all them people is being retooled for the police force?

Or maybe she was on the police force all along. Dun dun dun.

I want to see the movie...

So.

Badly.

I thought she did some trickery and schemed her way in, but your idea sounds good too.

That's the sort of thing that happens in the pencil and paper rpg (I think there may be one or two NPCs described in a supplement somewhere where this is exactly the case), so it seems likely given Mike Pondsmith's involvement.

All I got out of that is there are guns, android girls, and cool music. Damn teasers

Agreed. That was less useful than a screenshot (of gameplay).

This was included in their email they sent out with the video

“The teaser shows how the Psycho Squad might acquire a new member. The Psycho Squad specializes in combating “psychos” – individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body. There comes a point when they overdose on these innovations, and their bodies start to rebel against their biological body parts as well as against all things organic around them. Simply put, they start killing people, who they now derisively call “meatbags.”
When a psycho goes on the rampage, strange things can happen. There’s going to be a lot of carnage, so the psycho might be taken down by regular police, but they’re not always able to get the job done. When things spin out of control, they call in MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division), popularly called the “Psycho Squad”. And these guys are exceptional, these guys are crack troops. The fact that they’re proud of that name tells you a bit about their mindset. They wear a badge with their official emblem on their right sleeve, but their left is reserved for their unofficial Psycho Squad emblem. It’s primitively made and the image itself is on the crude side of things. It’s not unlike a badge special force operators might make and wear to distinguish themselves from the ranks of grunts in any theatre of war". - says Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED studio.

I hate CG trailers for games, but stylistically, that was on.

Damn, I'm still deliberating sending my CV to CDP as soon as I'm done with uni and seeing every single thing to come out of there makes me want it to do it a bit more.

edit: BTW: how big was Cyberpunk in States? Because, or at least that's my impression, it was one of most popular systems in here and maybe that's why CDP picked it up.

Also subliminal messaging, in proper cyberpunk fashion. Release isn't scheduled until 2015/6 (it's hard to make out), but CDPR is already warning that it isn't set in stone. With that kind of timeframe in front of us, a CG teaser is fine.

It looked good but the storyboarding was pretty bad. Slow-motion bullets with close ups on guns firing got old a long time ago and the entire trailer could've been summed up in a single picture. It just wasn't very dramatic even though it seems like it was trying to be.

I played a lot of the pen-and-paper Cyberpunk game in high school. I don't know how "popular" it was, but it got all the way out to rural Alaska, so it had to have hit pretty hard. I even had a character with a set of Rippers like hers. I'm going to have to watch for this one.

ENHANCE!

You're missing the best bit. Well... another best bit.

And that's not all that we are about to reveal. Our other project which is much closer to being completed. And yes it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. So you can probably guess the game we're talking about. On the 5th of February it will be all clear.

/me Pulls on white wig.

I watched the trailer a second time and picked up on the mark on her cheek, so yeah, all signs point to a recruitment (especially since, y'know, they said as much). That makes the trailer more interesting.

Until 2015? Yeesh. I thought we were done with these several year away announcements for the most part?

In any event, I'm convinced the best stories are those that don't exist at this point. Video game trailers are proof of this. They're like short films that leave you wanting more, but as they're usually put together in such an artistic fashion you can't get away with in a full film, it is best left concise.

Whenever I hear fully open world and heavy story focus I get very concerned. Also, ARG leaves me skeptical too. Not that they can't be good. But typically they are a lot of hype with little substance as the reality sets in that the pie in the sky features need to be cut in order to release the game.

I am excited. This could be good!

I want to do cool cyber punk stuff and pull arm blades.

Double post. He's a cyborg!

edit: Why Chrome?

God I love the Internet... And CD Projekt's choice of music. Very cool track.

Best part was the release date announcement: "When It's Ready"

Well I'm excited, but for a 2015/2016 release, I'm going to have to try and forget I just watched that trailer. I don't want to sit on the hype road for that long.

The Benjamin Franklin MMO? World of Statecraft?

CD Projekt Red has yet to disappoint me with one of their finished products. I might as well just start throwing money at them.

Ooh, a trailer. They have my money. CD Projekt has a lot of good will in me.

Watched the trailer last night, they definitely nailed the atmosphere and style. Or at least as best I can tell having only played Netrunner and never CP2020/203X proper. Hoping Bartmoss is still around in 2077

But did you or her ask for them?

Cool trailer as far as teasers go. But damn this game is a long way out.

I found their use of a modern trip hop track, a genre that came out in the 90s, to be pretty damn meta considering cyberpunk came out around the same time-ish

Also, is that the same actress from the "Mental Wealth" Playstation commercial?
