Bought:
I Am Alive
STALKER series
KOTOR 2
Sins Rebellion

Received:
A Valley Without Wind (thanks, Manach!)
Bad Rats ("thanks", m0nk3yboy!)

A very light sale for me. I didn't gift this time around as I was keeping a closer eye on the budget following my wife's job ending when she received a "you're fired!" text on Christmas Eve. I'll catch up next time!

Now I feel bad for bestowing Rats on you!

New notification should remedy that though. Reminded me of Inside a Star-filled Sky which I was gifted from an awesome Goodjer a few sales back.

Hint:

Spoiler:

It was you...

Thank you Garden_Ninja for KOTOR 2. Like a ninja, I will repay the debt when you least expect it.

I think I'm okay with the sale being over. It felt over for me a few days ago as the same deals were cropping up again and again. If I were to pass on any wisdom I learned from this sale, it was to keep an eye on other websites as they're stepping up their game. Still a little miffed I bought XCOM: Enemy Unknown at $33 when GMG had it for $17, which is such a first world problem... well... maybe a second world problem.

I suck at FTL..... that is all.

Me too... 20 hours in and I still haven't beaten it on easy.

Same here.

Here's my list:

Steam Sale:
Torchlight 2 $10
I am Alive: $5
Shogun 2 Otomo Clan DLC: $2.50
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne: $7.50
Spirits: $5 (for myself and also gifted out a $2.50 copy)
Mark of the Ninja: $7.50
Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion: $13.59
XCOM Enemy Unknown Elite Soldier Pack: $3.75
Sleeping Dogs: $4.50 (beating the system with their 91% off temporary glitch)

Steam Activated from Amazon and their Editor's Choice Credit:
Hotline Miami: $2.50
Spec Ops The Line $2.50

Others:
Mass Effect 3: Omega Pack: $15

Total: <$80

That was not bad at all. I am tempted to pick up Torchlight 2 for $10 but that game right now is a guaranteed pile sitter. (EDIT: AND IT WILL SIT THERE NOW THAT YOU BOUGHT IT YOU NO WILLPOWER STEAMSLAVE) I've heard too much underwhelming stuff about Dawnguard to jump even at $10, and Anno 2070 at $20 is too high for a pile sitter as well. Although I don't give or receive too much from other goodjers (kind of like that self-sustaining hermit who lives in the woods), it does make me smile knowing our community is so charitable with each other.

UPDATE I'm out of Sins keys but still have Magicka.

My butchers bill:

For me
Xcom
Walking Dead
Sins of a Solar Empire

As Gifts
Sins 4 pack
Walking Dead x 2
Shogun 2

Received
Borderlands 2 (thanks to BigHoppa)

I'm absolutely crushed!!! I promise next time the gift will be more deserving of attention.

Oh my gosh, that's horrible!!! What kind of human being would do that? On Christmas Eve? And via text? Hope she finds a new job quickly!

That's why I keep an eye on the Video game deals there here. I wouldn't have gotten Dark Souls or XCOM if I hadn't known they were cheaper on Amazon. I'm also okay with the sale being over. I greatly enjoyed the holiday season and the atmosphere it created, but now my wallet needs to recover.

Not going to tally up the damage, but I gifted more than I received and that's exactly the outcome I wanted. You all are wonderful people and I had a good time reading this thread and watching everyone else receive their presents and often paying it forward. This is the best community

OK, finally the inflow of the posts subsided, so in the spirit of Christmas gluttony, it's Time for Leftovers!

I have a code for Bards Tale (redeemable on Steam) and a digital gift of Don't Starve. First non-grinder to PM me gets one or the other, but not both, so we can have two giftees.

EDIT: Bard's Tale gone to Cobble. Enjoy!

EDIT2: Don't Starve goes to Blondish83 as soon as we arrange invite-send stuff.

Thanks to barbex for the appreciated return gift of Hoard!

Since I've been bad ratted and sparkle ponied in previous sales, Liquidmantis found a way to meme me:

Thanks, Liquidmantis, I shall strap on rubik monkey bra and finger --> keyboard to play this game.

Apologies to those who gifted me Batman, TWD, and Thirty Flights. Your gifts were greatly appreciated, but for some reason I can't figure out how to see a history of who gave gifts. I can see a history of who I gave gifts to, but can't figure out the reverse. I think two were Grumpicus and Bangletones, but I can't remember which they gifted or who the third was. Codeine cough syrup is awesome.

Check your email inbox. You should have gotten emailed about it with the person's current Steam name. Like when Psych sent me Torchlight 2, it showed as: Merry Psychmas [GWJ]. It also shows their email address at the end of it next to their icon.

Ack! I've been post-sale attacked! I've been out-ninja'd. This distresses me greatly.

...Arimajeen sent a wave of creeps my way, but they couldn't make it through my fortifications. (Apparently I already own it, I vaguely remember downloading it but I thought that was a demo. I'll pass it on, or return it: whichever you prefer.)

Apologies to those who gifted me Batman, TWD, and Thirty Flights. Your gifts were greatly appreciated, but for some reason I can't figure out how to see a history of who gave gifts. I thought I was going to do well this sale and keep my gifted:received:purchased ratio weighted more towards gifted, but it's hard not to pull that trigger, sometimes. Also, the community here is ridiculously generous and retaliatory gifting overwhelmed me! I promise to do better for the summer sale!

Thanks, Tomato! I'm not sure why that slipped my mind, but I've corrected the previous post. Game on!

The results are finally in:

It was a wonderful event. Went a "bit" over my budget, but totally worth it.

Thanks to everyone who gifted me, befriended me, or just participated.

This is the best community on the internet.

Big thanks go out to Luggage for the gift of LIMBO. When I save my sister, I will think of you.

Thanks to Laars for Borderlands 2! You guys were wrong about him. He's not that bad.

I think I'm done buying games until the Summer sale. I have things like Skyrim, Alpha Protocol, Sleeping Dogs, Alan Wake (plus expansion), Darksiders I & II and a bunch of King's Bounty games to get through. Also, I want to spend the money on getting fit and saving up for another tattoo. Does this count as a new year's resolution?

You know, if you really cared, you would have spelled my name right!

I'm not even sure what's meant to be coming out this year so you're probably safe anyway.

TheHipGamer wrote:

Ack! No, we laughed about it, cracked the champagne, and toasted her freedom -- as you do when you part company with someone willing to end a business relationship via text on Christmas Eve. No worries, here. :)

My aunt evicted me on Christmas Eve while I was out of town a few years back (prompted by a son that she and her husband feared). It worked out great!

Anyone heard anything about this The Journey Down? I know it's supposed to be an adventure game, but did anyone play it before they made the updated version?

Spoiler:

this post definitely belongs in this thread because technically, the game's on sale... also, I don't know where else to ask. I like you people. I'm not sorry. :P

Try the Adventure Gaming Catch-All, perhaps? I haven't tried it but I think RPS had a positive take on the free AGS version.

Big thanks go out to Malor for the gift of Bastion. I shall think warm thoughts of you when I'm..... bastioning stuff.

Thank you sir!

Damnit, does somebody remember the URL somebody linked about halfway through the sale that compares prices off of Steam and other sites to find the lowest price for games? I really don't want to sift through 147 pages.

There's a couple. isthereanydeal.com is pretty good, you can link to your wishlist and set up price reminder emails.

There's also steamgamesales.com

Sleepy Dawgs, the Skyrim DLC, and Hotline Miami were my weak-willed purchases. I also got a cheap Quest for Glory pack on GOG, but I don't know if that counts in this thread.

BUT... I just moved my computer desk near my flatscreen last night. So I had to have some cool games to use on couch, right?

That's my justification.

Arise, thread! I bought a 6-pack of games on Amazon for $6 this morning, and I have the following Steam keys for anyone above Coffee Grinder who wants them:

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Metro 2033
Red Faction Armageddon

Red Faction Guerilla
