Just picked this up. It looks like fun. Is there a GWJ squad I can join for challenges?

PC or console? There's a couple of us playing on 360 but it's pretty irregular.

PC. I guess that's a darn for me then. But the game is still fun. :)

I've not played since TSW launched, but i'll definitely will jump in to try it out again. I do like the game mechanics when i'm able to play.

I played some more of the adversarial multiplayer yesterday on the 360.

Other than the game doing a pretty terrible job of balancing teams (as in, it almost never does it at all) I still think it's actually really good.

The objectives changing and moving around the way they do keeps things interesting and actually keeps the maps from getting as worn out as they otherwise might because you don't spend all your time in the same areas, or even approaching the same areas in the same way.

I spent two matches or so in a game with a team that simply refused to go after objectives. It was super frustrating so I left and went to a new game. I ended up on the opposite end of a team that refused to do the objectives, which was kind of funny for exactly one match and then super boring for two more.

One more switch later and I actually got into a game that was kind of going back and forth and continued to do so for five or six games. It was super fun. A lot of situations where I'd pull off a capture on an objective just barely before the enemy got there to stop me, and two instances where I managed to get close to an objective we were supposed to defend and run in and get multiple melee kills, including the guy trying to plant the explosives on the point

I'm a little sad this doesn't have a bigger following. This is the most fun I've had in versus multiplayer on a console since CoD4.

Totally agree.

We'll have to team up at some point. I'd love to play with more than random pubbies. Also, wish there were more maps - I think there are only 6 or so.

Finished the single player campaign. I really enjoyed a couple of the final missions that were set in bucolic villages in the autumn. Made for some varied set pieces.

However, even though the game does open-up after the first couple of missions, it's still very linear and felt a lot like Splinter Cell. While I would prefer that we go back to squad-based slow-paced tactics gameplay from the PC originals, I'm not expecting that anytime soon. However, you could at least give me an open map and let me tackle objectives (maybe with some secondary objectives) in whatever order I choose. That would make exploring the aforementioned set pieces quite a bit more rewarding.

Nothing like multiple games full of people who park way back near the spawn and snipe while doing nothing but Female Doggo about everybody else not capturing the objectives.

UUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.

I am going to be doing some campaign co-op with DrJekl tonight around 9 central if anyone is interested.

This game is complete bliss compared to Ghost Recon online. That game is... well it's not good.

Unlike other games that have unlockable guns, that one did not insure that the starting weapons are just as good as the ones you unlock later. I got to about level 5 or whatever with the Assault class, and then ended up in a game with a bunch of guys using some guns I hadn't seen before. They were doing significantly more damage per shot, had a faster rate of fire, and were just as accurate. It was... frustrating. They were basically just running full tilt at us knowing that pure damage output would overcome anything we did. We got steamrolled for multiple rounds. It was not fun.

But I'd saved all my earned points up to that time and had been doing well, so I thought ok.. maybe I can just buy that gun.

Nope. I had enough points, but the gun didn't unlock until level 15.

I tried one more round again to find two guys, this time on my team, completely dominating the other team with guns that the rest of us didn't even have access to yet.

I quit after that.

Guess I need to stick with Future Soldier for my Ghost Recon fix. There's unlocks in it but they all seem to be very well balanced and fair.

So how is the the Guerilla mode? Did it turn out to be better than the survival mode in AWF 2?

Sort of? It's definitely more challenging, but I wouldn't say particularly complicated or deep. It's just that instead of picking a spot and sitting there spraying for ages you do things in waves, and it does force you to alternate between two positions every tenth wave.

There's certainly more to it but not because the AI's any better.

This is going for £25 on XBox Live - worth picking up?

Considering everything else that's coming out now(XCOM, XCOM, XCOM, XCOM, and XCOM), I'd say your gaming money could be spent in better places(XCOM).

Seriously, though, it's an above average cover based shooter. The single player campaign, while a pretty normal Clancy clusterf*ck of a story, is quite a bit of fun, especially because of all the toys you get. Active camo and the pure gun porn that the weapon customization system gives is pretty neat.

I just played through the campaign on Xbox and really enjoyed it. It looks great and not too many points where multiple retries are required but a couple. The controls work well enough for single player but I have been finding a bit hard to get used to in MP: if someone runs past you when you are in cover it is hard to unstick and then find them and has often left me getting an embarassing spanking. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of people playing in the UK. Sometimes its slow finding a game (sometimes it won't start even with six a side waiting to go) but usually okay.

Very slick game. You can smell the polish on it. There are a couple of the settings I thought looked amazing:

Spoiler:

creeping up on the cargo ship and in the city

Am I missing the point of the 'Ghost' score at the end of the chapters? Where I walk through not killing anyone I feel like a ninja but get a poor score. Snipe the entire population of the map and get a high 'Ghost' score.

I hired the game and so don't have a Uplay passport which I suppose is to encourage people buying the game new rather than second hand. The MP is limited to level 5 for each class so haven't touched a lot of the MP unlock toys. Not a bad distraction but feels limited. I'd appreciate a code if anyone has one.

So I picked this up dirt cheap (boy did I add to the pile....) during the Black Friday deals. Not sure when I'll get to it but is anyone playing this anymore? Sounds like it got decent reviews but didn't seem to get a very big following....

Oh and I got it on 360.

I ended up picking it up a while ago. It's pretty good, linear but well put together, plenty of 'make you feel like a badass with careful scripting' moments but a lot less of the COD style bombast. I've found multi underwhelming.

So this game is $15 on steam right now. Worth it?

If you have at least one person to play through co-op with and maybe play some of the other multiplayer (it's underrated, IMO), sure. I played through in co-op with friends on the 360 and had a great time.

If it had not been co-op and I'd been going at it solo the whole way I'm not sure I'd have such a rosy POV though. Hard to say.

I thought it was highly underrated as well, but Ubi didn't help themselves by it being so buggy at launch. Jekl and I lost 2-3 play sessions to sh*tbag Ubi servers and I never ended up finishing the game. We are supposed to go back in there this weekend if anyone else is interested.

If you're doing it on the 360 the co-op levels in one of those DLC packs are actually pretty good too.

I have just been waiting for a sale on those.

I thought it was a fantastic game. I played the entire campaign solo and I really enjoyed it. It is an excellent third person shooter and I think it is much better than the previous titles in the franchise.

I picked the game up at launch, because I loved the multiplayer in the last game so much. I started with the campaign, just to get an understanding of the controls again, and just became engrossed in the gameplay.

DLC is 50% off on live this week. Enable me?

Only Raven Strike is worthwhile if what you're after is more co-op stuff.

All the other packs are only good if you're going to play a lot more of the adversarial multiplayer.

I don't think I saw Raven Strike on Steam. Is it 360-only or something?

360 and PS3 only for the time being. When they announced the release date I recall them saying the PC version of the DLC would release "at a later date" and then never mentioned it again.

Given how long it's been out for the consoles, that doesn't sound promising.

So the DLC is on sale for like 70% off this week, and I picked it up. Is there enough people who are interested in hooking up for a night of beers and multiplayer? If we can get a full group we should be able to basically tear apart any opposition. Maybe friday night?

On 360? I think I bought it all anyway. I'd be happy to fire this up again.

But of course on 360!
