Guild Wars 2 Catch All

Just checked today's Trading post deals and it's all 3 armor skins - Primevil (Heavy), Krytan (Medium) and Profane (Light) - each on sale for 375 gems (regularly 500). That's currently about 7 gold each using in game currency.

Yeah these are single use items (although I suppose you get more miles out of them with fine transmutation stones)... not at all worth it unless you have a special sentimental connection to these skins from GW1.

I think maybe Arenanet should hire Valve to help with the whole f2p cash shop thing.

That's no different from any other skin. (except the HoM rewards, of course)

The Profane looks ridiculously silly on male characters, but is good if you're going for the kinky sexpot look on a female character.

Krytan may be one of the best looking medium armors- but that's not saying much. I haven't found much that I like for medium characters. The Noble crafted set is the ONLY armor I like on my thief. Still the Krytan set is similar enough to the armor that my GW1 ranger wore, that I'm tempted to get it. But seeing as my GW2 ranger is only level 12 and I'm not currently playing him, I'm not in a hurry to get it.

Human cultural tier 3 medium armor is fricking awesome

Well the difference is the cost some skins are far more affordable than others. Agreed that some of those are damned good looking.

For the moment, I've just been going with the heritage look (from the Eye of the North fortress), because I've been switching out my armor too frequently to settle on anything expensive, but checking out the look of the armor in the wiki is always a prerequisite for me. Not sure if that makes me shallow or stingy...

nope. playing dress up with your pretty characters is a huge part of the game. I'm a little sad that we don't have great galleries yet.

I do love the fact that we can change our color scheme on the fly, but I wish the makeover kits weren't so much. Perhaps when I'm older and rolling in gold but here is a tip for any new characters - keep accessories to neutral colors ( gold, gray, bronze ), and make sure you like any markings, especially those on your face that are visible almost all the time. My mesmer has to be pretty much blue'ish and purple'ish thanks to her hair piece and markings across her eyes.

I have found this site useful: http://www.gw2armor.com/

yeah it's decent for a quick reference but it is missing some armor. Its the weapon galleries that have been lacking (although we are coming along).

Dulfy has a nice gallery of swords and great swords. I'm still looking for a decent gallery for bows and hammers.

Yesterday's sale on minis pushed the prices of the masterwork minis down about 30s each.... I'm considering snapping up a few of the historic strong sellers for when the prices rebound. (Polar Bears, for example, usually go for 1g-1g10s... right now they're 90s to sell, and about 60s if you wait on a buy order).

We wouldn't have such a need for galleries if they'd only allow us to preview items in the trading post. Looking at the trading post for the perfect exotic weapon for your level 80 is frustrating. I may find a couple with similar stats but one is 2 gold and the other is 20 gold. It must be the looks that are driving the price, but I've got no clue what each looks like.

Some are more rare than others too... Some have a mystic forge recipe, others don't there's a bunch of things that go into it. Allowing previews from the trading post would be nice, but there are other issues as well with the preview pane that they are working on resolving. I dont think we'll see one without them resolving the other.

Oh yikes, cultural armor is pricey!!! Or maybe I'm just poor! Probably comes from sticking to low level areas because I'm 100%'ing, when I'm actually nearing 40... Probably time to graduate to another area, right? Except I'm in the Plains of Ashford, thinking one... more... area... Oh GW2, I am so incredibly hooked.

It's expensive and when I bought the Charr tier 1 cultural armour I found I was finding gear that exceeded it in some stats relatively soon after. Looks good though, very ... Spikey

Transmute! I've been a bit disappointed with the appearance of most medium armor, frankly. Much of my gear has skins carried over from 20-30 levels ago.

Yeah, absolutely. I just wasn't sure it was the best use of the g while I still had as many levels to go. I wish there was a bit more variety in the appearance of standard armour.

Btw, I transferred to Far Shiverpeaks and that's been good so far - much busier at the times I'm playing and Guardian is a nice class to play.

basically go to this website - http://www.guildhead.com/ - and type in the item name. Once you find the item, clink on the LINK button. A little pop up will appear with a string of digits. Copy that and past it into any chat channel in game. You will then being able to ctrl click (or whichever I cant remember) to see it on your self.

Two things:

Outfits: What is with my asura's feet? We have the technology to make robots and flying cubes, but we can't figure out how to make boots that cover our toes?

Not Outfits: I have Vent installed for when we run guild groups, but I've heard a couple of different folks say they're using mumble. Does GWJ have a mumble server that we use?

What is mumble, other than what I do when I'm talking behind my wife's back?

A fine day in WvW. I was scouting out an opposing group for my small group, they found me, killed me, but I passed on word of their location to my peeps. They came, and I rezed, and running to get there in time to stomp on the last bits of them. I promptly started dancing on one of their bodies, as is my practice where someone who killed me is killed by me.

Well, the dude's buddies rezed, but he (my dancing floor) did not. My group hid behind a building while I continued to dance on him, and sure enough, his peeps came to take revenge, and we stomped them yet again. It was very satisfying.

Asura find toes sexy. True, look it up. It is sorta like their clevage, but guys have it too (of course).

Just another type of voice chat client.

Ok, well, I definitely want to do things with the other members of GWJ, so I'll see about getting the client if that is what we use.

Thanks!

There is a GWJ mumble server as well but afaik we all use vent for gw2

Did we actually use it? I've installed it, but never had the guts to actually fire it up yet. =D

there's rarely ever anyone just sitting there, so if you just poke your head in it'll be empty, but we often fire it up to do dungeon runs or other events where coordination is helpful.

I don't have mumble installed. If we're mostly using vent, then I'm all set.

Well, that explains the naked part, at least as far as GW2 designers go. I swear, those boys have got to go meet some real women. As much as I hate the Asura camera, I love the fact that she's managed to go 80 levels fully dressed.

The outfits in GW2 are one of the only thing about the game that really bother me. I understand that the majority of players are probably men, and I have read anthropology studies on how women who play games tend to find games as a safe outlet to "look sexy"...so I get the science behind why human/humanesque avatars are always within a certain size parameter, and why the chest to waist ration is set at X, and so on...but the vast majority of armor for the female avatars is hypersexualized almost to the point of absurdity, whereas if there is sexy male armor; bare chests crossed by bandoliers, or a nice Chippendale's bow tie and g-string, I've never seen any.

And that's not even talking about the practicality of wading into battle with a bare midriff. It's madness, I tell you. Madness.
