What We're Looking For:
- Good writing!
- Strong voice! Clever ability to turn a phrase!
- Creativity and unique commentary. You have a lot of latitude with the topic given. Be funny or serious; analytical or farcical; tightly focused or grand. Just say something unique! Make me think.
- The ability to follow instructions.
- Writers who want to improve their craft and explore opportunities for beginning a career. We want someone willing to put some time both in writing about the industry as well as being a part of a writer community.
- Industry knowledge. This is a site built around video games. Show me that you know how the present is built on the past, or even what the future may hold. Show us that you know what you're talking about without being pedantic.
- Good writing. No seriously, that's the big one.
Why You Should Write For GWJ
- Build a portfolio and a career. The work you do here gets your foot in the door if you want to write for the industry. GWJ alum and current writers have been published in numerous outlets using the work they did here as a building block.
- We offer a lot of creative freedom and encourage our writers to take chances.
- We have a strong community of writers that collaborate on articles, supply critical feedback, and support one another.
- We have a dedicated audience and receive millions of hits per year. GWJ content has been referenced by major sites and newspapers. If you write something truly inspired, people will take notice.

I would attempt something, but I'm just a hack at best.

Ditto. The quality around here has risen far beyond my ability.
That's a cop-out. I'm going to submit something; so are you.
I'd love to, but I tend to just ramble on and on and on with no real point or purpose.
That and all I really talk about is retrogaming.
I think we all need to stop avoiding the real question here:
WWMCD?
Yeah, with Gametap and consoles offering old games through online services, there's nothing to talk about there, eh?
I use a Mac, so no Gametap goodness for me. If I can't get media and get it to run in DOSBox, I don't really play it. Fortunately, there's more games here than immediately apparent.
The virtual console would be great, if I could find Wii points -anywhere- here. Beyond that, I just buy SNES carts.

It'd be nice to see some of the old school writers return. I did forward the call off to my buddy ShadeRaven.

tell me via pm thoughts on the one I sent...and whether I qualify or not...then my people will talk to your people...
You know you can get points while ON the Wii with a credit card, right?
Not having a credit card makes this somewhat complicated...

No, I chickened out and made it a slow-to-no-traffic thread.

You sure did, Max! you included everything but the permeating stink of nerd sweat and creepy owner sleaze! I can remember the grime from that tepid funk they called "air" coating the screens.
...Excuse me, I think I just had a seizure.
Words... are a big deal.

You go into your local gamestore. You buy a card with cash. Then you go home and add the points to your Wii. No blood, no report.

Hey - was your deadline EOD Wednesday the 31st, or was it BOD the 31st and I already missed it? I just got my DSL back tonight and I'm frantically trying to do a month and a half's work.
