No, Curse being stuck at work!!! ( Monday and Tuesday I work from home, so the GMT+4 wouldn't have mattered )

Hey y'all, did they ever allow Guesting from one server to another? The talk in the day was that i could play with another player on another server but not do WvWvWvWvW.

Is this a thing yet? I've been unable to find this answer with my googleing.

still no guesting, transfers are still free but limited to once a week.

And if you have a guild, you will lose everything you've bought. Well, technically you don't lose the upgrades/influence, they are just on the original server where you got them.

While you can't guest, you can join groups on other servers for dungeon runs (except fractals of the mist). Just use /join name or /invite name to join or invite someone. This works well with the http://gw2lfg.com/ site.

If you're in a group with people on a different server, you just need to be in the zone that the dungeon is in. Once someone enters you'll get the normal enter dungeon window and once in you'll be all together.

Aw, I'm sorry I missed the karka farming. That would've been so much fun.

I'd love to see more of that in some of the higher level areas. I'm still at only a third done on Straights of Devastation, and haven't touched the other 2 Orr areas. I keep dying trying to reach the skill points and other POIs in the water. If we ever got a group together to do those areas, I'm sure it'd be a blast.

Oh lovely, another market manipulation via exploit banwave goes out, another tidal wave of "How were we meant to know that too good to be true thing was too good?" whines.

Look at the market price of ectos over the last month, and the dip starting at Dec 16th, that's owing to a new wintersday recipe that people were able to make run in a cycle that mass produced them. I really wish GW2 wasn't vulnerable to such schemes. I can understand manipulation preying on people's stupidity and social engineering, but it would be nice if ArenaNet didn't add problems in areas of the game that knock-on to affect everyone in the global marketplace. It just makes that whole area of the game seem toxic to me.

Cursed Shored has several fun event chains. I'll be going through all the Orr areas soon to finish world completion, and I'm sure others need those areas as well. The Karka farming was blast, so I'm hoping we can hook up and do the Orr completion together, too.

I've never been farther south than the beginning of Sparkfly, so I need to go get waypoints. Cruella hit 70 yesterday, so is that high enough for those events, too?

There was a thread titled something like How To Mass Produce Ecto. There was a lot of discussion, with even several players saying it seemed like an exploit. John Smith made a "something from nothing" type comment. The recipe was quite cheap to make, and the payoff seemed to be free ecto. It was repeatable because you could always get your rare mat back - the snowflake - and you almost always got ecto also.

They patched it pretty quickly.
I don't think they should ban folks for it, because it wasn't super obvious, like the karma weapons for 28 karma thing.

It sounds like people dont know the risks of the market they operate in. What you describe is only a scheme when you are on the loosing side of it. I personally like cheaper ecto.

If I speculated on ecto I would buy now and sell it in a month or two when the price was higher.

Has getting to that 100% been fun for you? It seems like a big grind. Has that been your experience?

I was able to ride the wave to both sell a mithril stack at inflated prices and then buy ectos on the cheap.. but I only found out about the cause for those market fluctuations afterwards.

The spike in difficulty in the Orr zones made completing them way more fun than the lower- and middling-level zones that you can just stomp through. The lack of heart quests also help.

Having 100% all the maps, there are times when I wondered what I was doing with my life, though.

Around level 13, I completely dropped the story because I got stuck on a certain mission in the Sylvari storyline. From that point on, I exclusively explored and 100%'d areas. First I did the Grover, and Caledon Forest. Then I moved on to Metrica Province and Rata Sum. At some point, I figured out that you could use the asuran gates to travel to Lion's Arch, and from there, I went to Divinity's Reach and Queensdale which I 100%'d. Then I did the Hoelbrak and the Black Citadel. Working on Wayfarer Foothills right now, the Plains of Ashford are up next. And I'm now 37 or something. I'm having loads of fun just exploring, meeting people and just being in the world. I'll go back to the story at some point, because I liked it, but the 100% doesn't necessarily have to feel like grinding at all.

I've really enjoyed working towards 100% .. so much so that even though my thief was already at 62%, I decided to do it with my mesmer instead, just passed 75% recently.

things like world completion are really just goals you can use to motivated yourself into playing and/or accomplishing tasks, which happens to have the benefit of extra rewards built in to the process.

It's only a grind when you don't enjoy what you're doing and you're only doing it to chase the end reward.

Don't know if you guys use gems or not, but 3 Day New Years Sale in the Gem Store – New Items Each Day! is coming, running from Jan 4th to the 6th.

My new Steelseries mouse and mousepad arrived today. They look and feel great. Now if I can only get the Steelseries Engine to install so I can customize its settings.

Oh wow!! Someone loves Guild Wars!!!

Reminds me of the old login screen.

Black Lion Salvage kits are on today. Thinking about getting some.

Today on sale are character slots, mini pets, and a lame deal on the makeover kits ( only the bundle is on sale, not the individual ). All of them are 25% off.

Cragmyre, you really want my wallet to hate you, don't you? Mini pets.... <3

Could anyone suggest a nice, active, European server?

Generally I play MMOs with a friend in Canada, and so when we started GW2 we made our characters on a North American server. This has its downsides, in particular when I solo I'm mostly playing in non-peak time and with few players around it's harder going, and my friend has mostly lost interest. I just made an Asura Guardian, which seems a nice choice to get back into the game with.

I really feel GW2 thrives on concurrency. The frustrating experience of trying to solo level first a Thief, then Engineer through essentially empty zones has me ready to walk away from the game - but I really enjoyed the first few weeks of play with more people around.

Got the extra Charater slots, and the mini pets.. nice!

Don't blame the messenger plus, it is only 25% off, that really isn't a lot, especially compared to the steam sale. Though I did buy myself 2 more character slots.

I picked up some slots as well. I needed more badly

I got my i5 3570k up and running today. Dragons are no longer a framerate problem.

Nice.

Had a really fun Fractal run last night, finished level 2, saw the Jade Maw fractal for the first time, wiped a few times on it(mostly my fault), finally defeated it with one GWJer standing.
Afterwards, finished up daily with Cruella, then killed a few random mobs and she hit level 80!

It's been a great couple of weeks in GW2 with GWJ!
