Official Team Fortress 2 Game Nights (PC)

I approve of pretty much all of that. Medic can be very useful, so I might put #1 "Use Kritzkrieg" and #2 "That's the wrong medigun, why not try heavy instead?". Maybe some minor tweaks for Wave 666, maybe. Can you add recommended loadouts too?

I don't play MvM much, but why would you do this? Don't you lose all the points you would have put into upgrading your backburner (flame of choice for MvM) if you change midway through? By the time tanks would be any problem near the end, you should already have your backburner dmg and ammo capacity maxed out so it would do more damage anyways.

You can alternate between mmmpf crits and crit canteen to fill mmmpf to crit continually

also I disagree completely about using backburner cus the best way for a pyro to DPS is to make the robots walk past the heavy and sentries over and over by poofing not by burning, and any non phlog/backburner is better for poofing.

I think the primary way that the less used classes could be buffed would be to give them more push back or slowing effects (but then why would you play pyro)

I have not beaten an Expert Map with less than Two heavies.

The only things that cause problems are the giant robots and you can't poof those backwards, only in place even with maxed out poof. The backburner does 10% more dmg even if you aren't critting from behind. Ammo isn't a concern if you max out your ammo capacity.

Loadouts:

Scout:
P: I argue for the force a nature but it is of marginal use
S: Mad Milk works for your whole team. An heavy can stand right in front of the rapid-fire critting soldier and stay alive if he is healed by DELICIOUS MILK
M:Everyone is going to say fan of war, but I think that you only want to use the fan in round one till you can afford the upgrade (500) for the sandman. The sandman lets you mark at a distance, mark multiple targets, and has a slowing effect.

Pyro:
P: Stock Flame Thrower
S: Scortch Shot: if you shoot the robot depositing the bomb the knockback resets the animation and buys time and there are edge cases where you can push back without the flame thrower
M: Rake to stay alive or hammer to help vs. spies, might want to change round to round

Engineer: (My least played class)
P: I use widowmaker, but I usually never shoot it. The new gun might be good, but by the time you notice you need to move your gun it is destroyed. Plus, with the build canteens, it is so easy to replace your gun.
S: There are times when you can benefit from using the Wrangler, but usually i just mouse wheel to it on accident and turn my gun off. Usually you want your gun less exposed (around a corner behind heavies who are less fragile) so the extra range from the wrangler doesn't help.
M: Standard Wrench. Upgrading your wrench attack speed lets you fix faster (I think)

Heavy
P: Brass Beast unless you are the third heavy then MAYBE Natasha so you can slow down robots and let the real heavies shoot longer
S: I Have been using chocolate bar, but it doesn't seem to help much. If you are going to die, then you are going to die from like 1000 damage all at once. Second choice for me is sandvitch
M: Running Urgently

Soldier
P: Tough call. Black box keeps you alive. Direct Hit Brings down specific Robots faster, but does less DPS than something with more splash. Liberty Launcher's drawback can be upgraded away. Not a fan of Beggar's Bazooka cus it is hard to stay flush with ammo with no Dispenser
S: Buff Banner
M: I use Escape Plan

Demo:
S:I think it is possible to do everything that the Demo needs to do with just the sticky bombs. There are certain waves that can go from impossible to trivial if the demo can time Kritz cans and sticky bombs (wave 4 Desperation Giant Heavies in particular). I am torn between the Scottish Resistance and the Stock sticky, since I try to set it up so there is a pile of stickies and I shoot one more (9th or 15th) so that the oldest one blows up leaving the rest. Scottish DOes more damage and Stock is quicker to move your pile.
P: Should be secondary to the Sticky Launcher. I have been thinking that the Boots might even be the best pick. Either that or the new gun for the push back.
M: Don't have opinion. Do buffs from head takers stay when you switch away? you shouldn't be getting that close to the robots.

Sniper:
P: Hitman's Heatmaker's bar fills up with ONE explosive headshot if it does enough damage. I was thinking the sidney sleeper was good for pee at distance, but then you can't do headshots, and they really are excelent group DPS. Better than a soldier if you never miss.
S: Pee
M: No opinion

Medic.
P: Blutsauger: There is always something to shoot at and the healing can keep you alive to re-position.
S: Kritz is the only one that adds to dps. Remember you can share canteens, so you can still uber your patient (you can even Uber AND Kritz (I think))
M: Torn between Uber saw and vita saw

Spy
S: Sometimes you need DPS. I am thinking the Ambasador is better vs. Robots and Enforcer vs. Tanks (assuming it still out averages stock, not sure)
M: Your Eternal Reward will let you do the most damage if you can get the first cloak going (hard) you are still going to not out DPS other classes
PDA: Any has its merrits
Sapper: This is what they need to fix. I think the Spy should be able to have multiple sappers and that they should last twice as long (or just kill things outright). Spy could be viable if they add more upgrades for sapper (current only increases the range of its impact)

Are mannes shooting mannes tonight? I have to go meet my wife for a beer in a bit, but I'm hoping to burn some hattes afterwards. Might be later than the usual 6pm meet time, hopefully some folks are still playing by then.

Also, I'll be glad when this dumb sale is over, Steam is crashier than a muh fuh since it started. It crashes several times a day for me.

I'd be interested in playing a lil MvM sometime, though I am an utter newb at it and don't have hardly any upgrades or different equipable stuff other than the default stuff.

Msg me. I don't mind playing baby mode. Also, there is a "try out" button in the store where you can borrow new weapons for a week. Plus I can give you stuff.

I didn't know there was this 'try out' mode. That's pretty cool.
Got some stuff as well and also into MvM

Speaking of MvM I saw the craziest strategy ever. The third round of the engineer level has a giant heavy and a giant medic walk out right before the tank. We had the medic switch to huntsman sniper that level and spec nothing except to buy some uber canteens. When the heavy popped out he ran over, hit the uber and taunted the heavy. This caused him to go into the laughing animation. Then the rest of us took down the medic pretty quickly.

We failed the rest of the level but that bit worked pretty well.

I'd be up for some f2p MvM.

Barring a really stupid engineer, heavies are the weak point of every failed MvM round I've ever been a part of. I think it's a severely overrated class unless the person playing it is exceptionally good.

Really? I'm a terrible heavy but I find them indispensable at higher difficulty levels because they can soak up lots of damage while dealing plenty out (plus rage knockback and projectile elimination). Bullet penetration is also amazing; heavies become a sort of AoE death machine.

Most of the failures I see aren't related to team composition (and certainly not due to the presence of any damage-dealing class) but, plain and simple, either a poor strategy or a failure to execute a good strategy.

Psych can't handle my yoloSWAG.

Most heavies I've played with don't understand damage falloff so they sit as far back as they can and shoot so they don't do any damage and they don't draw any aggro for the other players.

Might be because I took a small break but game's been much fun these past few days , with random GWJers coming out of retirement and all : )

Fun times tonight, especially after I got my second wind. Nice to have a Dimmerswitch spotting as well.

OOO I just saw your golden backburner.

Wanted to heal mannes. Steam would rather crash repeatedly. Instead I shall heal myself with these bottles of beer.

Shut up Psych

Stand by the heavy when your buff banner is active.

Wasn't the buff banner range increased greatly for MvM?

I was so glad to be back with a mouse and keyboard. Only issue it is seems my headset might be dying on the right side. Gotta hit the ear piece a few times for the sound to come back.

Also, hope that they get around to creating a new minimum on selling crates because at the price most of them are going now, you almost aren't even getting pennies for them.

Edit: How much does a single digit crate go for? I've got a few ones from when they started this whole crate business that I never opened and I've decided to finally part with them, be it the market place or some way.

I take it back, spies have no heart, no souls, and they probably don't cast reflections on mirrors

I feel like there is something I'm supposed to be doing tonight. I just can't seem to recall what that might be...
