Video Game Deals Catch-All

The Thief Collection is on Steam Sale for the next 42 hours for $6.74.

I never played Thief and Thief 2, heard they were good - should I pop on it?

Check out all of the mod support to make them pretty/playable on today's hardware. This series is continually brought up by people sighing over games they loved. I'm determined to give them a shot.

Sine Mora is $2 at GMG after coupon GMG20-PJFEW-Y16HK.

Steam key.

Kind of interested, but haven't really seen much other than brief mentions of the game.

I've got it. It's a fun and really pretty side scrolling shooter. The bosses are really interesting and impressive. And it's not a "bullet hell" kind of shooter so it's not crazy, which I prefer. And there are various types of planes to pilot. I spent about 2 bucks on it and I think it's worth it.

The story is really intense but all the voice acting is in Hungarian. And honestly, the game is too visually impressive for me to care about the story. There is a lot of text to read, and I just didn't bother.

One downside though is that in story mode the cutscene type of interruptions are just outside the line of being annoying. Not game killing, but it gets frustrating at times. Arcade mode fixes that.

What maverickz said. If you like shmups (in particular the left-rightly variety), this is a no brainer. If you're not into shmups or only like super fast ones, this won't sell you on the genre.

Catherine is again $19.99, this time on Newegg. Free shipping.

Two of the most unique, never-duplicated, well-loved video games of all time for less than the price of a sandwich?

This.. this is not a question that should be asked. The question is "I never played Thief and Thief 2, how many hour straight should I spend playing them?" And the answer is, all of them.

All of the hours? I've never played them, either.

Well then, glad I did pop and buy the bundle...

Well done. I did not see you approach.

LOOOOOOUD NOISES

But seriously, I've been trying to boot camp this machine for a while now, but my college images the HDD in some weird way so we can use the new Adobe Suite (among other awesome stuff), so boot camp just won't work.

Take a look at virtualisation (for instance with virtutalbox), running an OS inside an OS, and holding it's 'hard-drive' within a file on the host. Thief/Theif2 are from the 90s, and I'm pretty sure T1 may not need hardware acceleration, and T2's 3D requirements are pretty basic by contemporary standards (it's a directx seven game), so even passed through a few wrapper layers to the mac it'll probably run.

NO EXCUSES!!!

LOOK INTO CROSSOVER

sweet, thanks guys... I'm researching now

Anyone know of a deal on the XCom DLC for PC? The Slingshot pack has been full price on Steam throughout the Steam sale since I've started checking.

Green Man Gaming has it, and they have a 20% off code (posted it up thread and it's on their site). Not a great deal, but something.

If you read the customer reviews on GMG for the Slingshot DLC, I don't think I'm even going to bother..

If it was $2 I'd buy it.

ohhh I didn't mean anything against GMG, I use them all the time.

I meant that the Slingshot DLC was supposed to be not worth the bother/price

A lot of us here have bought a ton of stuff from there. They have some great deals. The biggest problems reported here were payment problems with credit card companies thinking they were a gambling site, and problems using their download client Catalyst. Catalyst doesn't apply here because it's a Steam code. And a few times they've run out of keys, but lately they've been just stopping sales of something before that happens.

If you scroll up this thread, you'll see people buying a lot of stuff from them.

Do what you will with that. I will buy stuff on sale from there if it activates on either Steam or Origin, but avoid their client.

I own the DLC and like it. It was worth it for 5 bucks.
