Things you should know by now, but only just discovered

Amen to that! I tried it for a short while, but both men involved got jealous. Jonman, you deserve credit for all the hard work you all are doing to make it work.

Technically, I think I'm double-assing. Subtle difference.

Sounds like it requires many flanking maneuvers

Yeah, I'll let myself out.

Some folksy entrepreneurs in Germany made a USB-device that can read Genesis and SNES games, and let you plug in Genesis and SNES controllers.

It's call The Retrode

Ugh - right in the nostalgia.

Finding this then prompted me to check out how much my unicorn games from SNES are going for. Earthbound carts are still ranging between $125 and $200

Yea I would love to get a copy of Earthbound and EVO and a few other SNES games that go for way too much money. Truthfully the insane collector buried deep inside of me would love to have every SNES game ever released in the USA even though there are a bunch that are just terrible. My SNES game collection is currently 41 games so I would also have quite a few to acquire.

So far, Earthbound is the Eleanor.

I still have my original copies of FF3, Secret of Mana, and Shadowrun - I've lost track of the rest of my collection in the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

After 20 years of cursing and hanging things wrong I recently learned the following.

When you attach something like a surge protector or shelf or anything else that needs 2 screws in the wall...

The old way was I would measure the distance between the mounting holes on the back of the item and then try and replicate those measurements on the wall.

Result: Fail

New way, take a piece of paper and place it over the holes on the back of the device. Poke a hole through the paper (centered over the mounting holes). Now you have a template that you can hold up on the wall and mark the spots for the screws.

YOU ARE A GOD AMONG MEN!

Do you have a pamphlet or 'zine that I could subscribe to?

Yes those are some jewels there. I have all the Square games except Breath of Fire since it is really a Capcom game (was published Square in the USA). We may need to find or start a Retro Game Collectors thread to compare notes. Talking with a guy at work made me realize I am missing Turtles in Time and Sunset Riders.

It's not Samurai Showdown, it's Samurai Shodown. O.o

I loved that game.

Phone screens can break when you drop them on the floor.

Not really a lesson, but the fact is that when we have all our lives on one device (music, email, text, phone, chat) - and that device breaks - it can be crippling. Particularly when you need to let other people know that your phone is broken.

Is it bork borked, or just "really difficult to read the screen" borked?

In either case, sorry to hear.

Now I want to see a video of the Swedish Chef bork borking a phone.

Ditto. Plus, it's pretty! Who knew?

Instapaper sending my reading selection to Kindle is a tech thing of the decade for me. Plenty of time to read those long articles on everyday 30+ mins commute. For free, if you are not willing to send the guy any money (I am a subscriber, though).

I have an iPhone with broken screen for two years now. Unless the breakage is significant there is zero functional loss.
