I was wondering if you abstained from voting for fear of a seeming bias? I've been wanting to see your top 10 this whole time, particularly after you jettisoned most of your pile and have been mostly playing 3DS and Wii games.

I ran out of time, and it was starting to feel like I was just making a list of the best Nintendo-published games I'd played this year. If you're curious...

Spoiler:
  • Kid Icarus Uprising (3DS)
  • Rhythm Heaven Fever (Wii)
  • Fortune Street (Wii)
  • Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GameCube)
  • Persona 3 Portable (PSP)
  • Fluidity (WiiWare)
  • WarioWare, Inc. (GBA)
  • Lost in Shadow (Wii)
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
  • Epic Mickey (Wii)

Even though I'm sure I've already read your thoughts on each of those throughout the year, still would have been cool to read. Ah well.

But yes, thanks for putting in all the effort to make this work.

Kid Icarus only got 2 votes :(

That's my fault. I didn't post a list and that would have been on it.

Good lord, how many hours did it take you to do this? Well done.

I love that you put these together Clock- much thanks.

Very cool, ClockworkHouse, thank you for putting this together!

Nice, Clocky. Thanks!

That's a nice list. Thanks for doing this again Clocky!

Hmm, I guess everyone else already played Skyrim last year. Still stand by it being my GOTY. #2 and #3 are definitely correct though.

I played a sh*t ton of it this year but I also put over 100 hours into it in 2011. I think most of the Skyrim type probably made playing it last year a priority like I did.

I am amazed FTL was beaten by Mass Effect 3. FTL had some crazy community buzz around here and sometimes I feel like I am one of the few people who loved ME3

Many thanks, ClockworkHouse! Thorougly enjoyed the thread and the results write-up is much appreciated.

That is some spiffy presentation of the results there - thank you for doing this, Clocky!

I specifically waited until after 12:01am on the 1st to start playing Skyrim so I can add it in December

Thank you very much, ClockworkHouse for all your hard work!! I'm kinda surprised by the ranking in the top 5, but those are definitely some excellent games, but all accounts. Can't wait to sink my teeth into XCOM and Dishonored, and I'm still considering getting a PS3 for the sole sake of playing Journey (and Tokyo Jungle ).

FTL will be on my list for 2013. I just started it and it's truly amazing. Definitely a winning game.

Excellent work. Thanks!

Seriously bummed CK2 didn't make the list in any way.

I don't know, considering the game, 11th place ain't too shabby.

Damn good list. Although, if I were King, #9 and #1 would be vetoed for doing basic things bad or terribly. But, I still can see why some choose highlights instead of things that hamper the experience for someone like me.

Thanks all for sharing your views, and of course, Clocky.

New games are almost here, fasten up!

Thanks for all the hard work Clocky! I also appreciate looking at the spreadsheet - I loves me some data. For instance, FTL only got 5 first place votes (as did Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning).

I feel like an ass. If I had voted, CK2 would have been in the top 10 instead of SR3.

Great job ClockWorkHouse and thanks for releasing the raw vote. I'm really sad to see Guild Wars 2 get edged out by Diablo 3, as IMHO GW 2 is a much better game in terms of mechanics, art, and in not being a complete naked cash grab by Blizzard. But otherwise I agree with all the games on the list.

Cant wait to play Walking Dead and Mass Effect 3 in the new year!

Wow, Darksiders 2 got only one vote total? (And from me, no less.) I would have thought it was a high-enough-profile game in 2012 to at least get a few nods.

I guess that settles the age-old question for this community...

XCom will probably be on my 2013 list. Has consumed me the last 3 days.

It warms the cockles of my heart to see Alan Wake place in the top half.

FTL is a platform exclusive, so there are many of us who haven't even played it.

Thanks Clocky!

Thanks Clock!

My GOTY has been community number 6 two years running. Interesting. It's pretty weird seeing a downloadable PS3 exclusive on the GWJ GOTY list.

At least Clock used a pic of FemShep.

It would have been up there if I didn't have my own bias against parts of it. I kept waiting for it to end, which was step 1 to my own personal disappointment, but the game was quite repetitive in terms of "do these three things to move forward even though the story doesn't develop all that much". It felt incredibly padded compared to the first one, and I still prefer the Zelda style of heart pieces over loot.

I liked it, but it was just disappointing enough to keep it from my top 10.

Otherwise, I agree, would have been nice to see greater presence of it since it wasn't a bad game by any stretch. But it released before the Fall, and unless you really stun everyone (Batman: Arkham Asylum) I feel like you're bound to be forgotten in that time frame.

I really enjoyed the first half of the game. The second half felt rushed as the last world and dungeon felt barren and short. There was also the awful level with the shooting and the non-existent story. It did have one of my favorite tracks this year:

Not so weird when it is so awesome. I have only seen videos of it, but damn, it is amazing.

You like it because it's Jesper Kyd! You might enjoy this interview.

Can't complain about the results; I've yet to play Dishonored or X-Com, but had I had time, I'm sure they'd have made my list. My only regret is CK2 being edged out of the 10th spot, but whaddayagonnado?

I'm just psyched it did as well as it did.
