Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

Poutine. Especially the butter chicken type.

Christmas with my parents

Says something about my relationship w/ my family when I read this and immemorially assumed I was in the lothe thread. I was very confused because both stories sounded like such good times.

Sometimes I think I shouldn't get on so well with my parents. It doesn't seem right.

We got some very nice praise for the podcast. And I've noticed that the show has an explicit rating on itunes, using the same black & white label warning that was on rap albums I bought as a kid.

Well if you will break out into spontaneous rap battles mid podcast what do you expect?

I think you're missing a C.

Overheard my 5 year old niece to her mom.

"After elementary, what school do I go to to be a Jedi Knight?"

I got her Star Wars for Christmas.

Shouldn't you have some sort of fireproof mat underneath that?

My brother-in-law insisted on building the fire as high as he could....

My brother said there was no way I could sing Owner of a Lonely Heart on Expert. I proved him very wrong.

I was just entering my holiday vacation time and realized I did the math wrong and was one day short. Told my boss expecting to be read the riot act since I had already taken the time off. His response: "It's fine, you've put in enough OT. You can have the extra day."

Bell Canada, and the conversation that their "retention specialist" had with my wife when she called to cancel our accounts with them.

We have been with them for over 10 years non-stop. Lately, the service in our area for DSL has been crap. Over the summer, we lost the internet for 3 days at least 4 times. Finally, we lost it about 2 months ago when my wife was in the middle of an addiction to a show via NetFlix. I pounced on this, and got her to dump Bell Canada for Videotron and TekSavvy.

When my wife called today to cancel, the retention specialist offered her a total of about $50 off our bill if we would stay. She then mentioned that (a) it would have been nice if something like this had been offered to us after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th time we lost internet; and (b) Videotron was already installing our new stuff.

The end of the year "clearing o' the booze cabinet" is always a magical moment. The cabinet must be cleared, and, sadly, this year ended with some Kahlua left over, with no milk or coffee in sight. My girlfriend and I dutifully tackled the remaining liquid with two shots each. Kahlua shots are not a pleasant thing, but tradition must be preserved, and we made it through admirably. I was sort of amused by her tumblr photo evidence of the event (her posts in parentheses)

(.. so apparently I am doing a shot of Kahlua)

(… because it has been deemed to be important that we ‘finish off all the 2012 booze and start fresh’
…………………….. right, then)

Finish all the 2012 booze? Man, no way I could survive that.

Sweet, what prizes are there?

(Disco Bandits are good but Accordion Thieves are more fun.)

I used to follow a podcast called NoobToob. For giggles I went back today. Turns out they did a Pax show bacl last Sept. I may watch that tonight.

I did enjoy that podcast. Not sure if its considered good or not. I liked it. The guys had good broadcast personalities.

Theramaniacs? At least, that's who's on the return label.

It's still in the box. My birthday's not for 2 days and I've yet to receive express permission to open it. Them's the rules in my house.

They're zany to the max, or so I hear.

I was just having a discussion with a friend the other day of the merits of Animaniacs and Freakazoid! Those really need to get put on Netflix instant so I can watch them all again!

At the moment, I am pleased with Newegg. My favorite keyboard, the Microsoft Natural 4000, went up for sale a few weeks back, and then they had a $10 coupon on top of it, getting me one for $20, which is a real steal.

Then it arrived with a bum spacebar. So, I requested an RMA# and expected, like I get from Amazon, a prepaid shipping label. Instead, I get a box that says, "buy your return shipping here!" I'm initially miffed, but that turns quickly to outrage when the shipping total comes up to nearly $16. It's a keyboard, it's big, but seriously, I'm not saving jack if I'm paying that much for return shipping.

So, I get into a chat with Newegg support, and instantly she just issues a prepaid return label, like I wanted in the first place. So, I'm pleased. I suppose "love" is a bit strong, because really, they should've done this in the first place, but I'm happy that they didn't even blink in issuing a prepaid label.

So cool. I expect video or audio evidence once you've learned how to play it.

It's kind of the velvet rope of newegg. They'll do that every time, you just need to know to ask for it.

Jonman, I'm going to have to respectfully demand that you send the Theremin into my keeping until you learn how to spell the instrument's name.

FROM YOU, ALRIGHT. I LEARNED IT FROM WATCHING YOU.
