NFL Playoff Bonanza Contest

Pages

Rules are simple:

1) Pick every single playoff game winner before the first game (I believe it's Bengals/Texans) at 4pm ET on Saturday.

EXAMPLE:
1st Round: Green Bay, Washington, Baltimore, Houston
2nd Round: Atlanta, San Francisco, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: Denver over Atlanta (45 total points)

The spreadsheet in this link will update the correct matchups as you make your choice

2) I will create a standings spreadsheet to share with the group once I enter all the picks:

Every 1st round winner right: 1 points
Every 2nd round winner right: 2 points
Every Super Bowl participant right: 3 points
Every Super Bowl Winner right: 5 points

Once 4pm hits on Saturday, that's it, picks are locked. Winner gets bragging rights.

1st Round: Green Bay, Seattle, Indianapolis, Houston
2nd Round: Green Bay, Seattle, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: Seattle over Denver (48 total points)

It could happen! Really!

1st Round: Green Bay, Seattle, Indianapolis, Cincinatti
2nd Round: 49ers, Seattle, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: 49ers over Denver (45 points total)

1st Round: Green Bay, Seattle, Indianapolis, Houston
2nd Round: 49ers, Seattle, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: Denver over Seattle (45 points total)

Oops

Here's my CRAZY rundown:

1st: Houston, Indy, Green Bay, Washington
2nd: Denver, NE, Washington, Green Bay
Super Bowl: New England over Green Bay (45)

This is really just what I WANT to see more than anything, except I'd rather SF beat Green Bay, and I don't think they will.

1st: Houston, Baltimore, Seattle, Green Bay
2nd: New England, Denver, Atlanta, San Fran
Super Bowl: Denver over Atlanta (56)

1st: Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Washington
2nd: New England, Denver, Atlanta, San Francisco
Super Bowl: Denver over San Francisco (44)

Is Atlanta like the least-talked about and respected 13-3 #1 seed ever? Sure they barfed in 3 games against some chumps but they won 13. I admit it, I don't understand it. Seems odd.

I like Washington, they're spunky.

1st: Houston, Indy, Washington, Green Bay
2nd: New England, Denver, Washington, San Fran
Super Bowl: New England over Washington (38)

1st: Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Green Bay, Washington
2nd: New England, Denver, Atlanta, San Francisco
Super Bowl: New England over San Francisco (60)

If Washington makes it to the SB, I don't care if they lose by 48 points. I will still be happier than a Rams fan with two first round draft picks....

Total Super Bowl Points?

1st: Houston, Baltimore, Green Bay, Seattle
2nd: Denver, New England, 49ers, Seattle
SB!: Denver over San Fran (45)

The Colts have been doing well, but I don't trust them over the Ravens defense, and while I can't say Flacco is elite, I really think he is better than a lot of other QBs out there now, and he has proven himself in the playoffs before.
Seattle is a really scary team right now, even if their road record isn't amazing. Both teams have solid offenses, even with their young QBs, but I think the Seahawks' defense is pretty much more than Washington can handle.

New England has shown it can handle the Texans, and I don't think a playoff game will dull the Patriots' edge. Denver has a terrifying defense, and now they have Peyton Manning still at a high level. (I think of Die Hard: "Now I have a Manning HO HO HO").
49ers are probably a kicker away from being 100% dominant. Seattle might not have replacement refs for this game, but now they have a season of experience to their credit.

Of course, what I *want* to happen is that Baltimore beats Denver so that New England doesn't have to go to Denver, and then the Patriots win the Superbowl again now that the Giants are out of it - of course, only Brady and Belichik are left from the old days, so that again doesn't really mean much.

They do have a history of going 13-3 and getting bumped out of the playoffs by a 6th seed.

Shame on you, you didn't use the spreadsheet!!! If you take Green Bay and Washington in the 1st round, Atlanta would play Washington in the 2nd round, and Green Bay would play San Francisco. I'll mark you down as is for now.

*EDIT*
14 entries so far. FSeven still needs to get me total points for Super Bowl tiebreaker. I have him marked down for 2 right now, since 2-0 is the lowest possible score.

I really think Denver would give Seattle fits(pass-rush) but the problem with facing New England is the winner is just whomever has the ball in the end so I'll hope for Denver.

Well that's awkward.

Let's see if I did this right:

1st Round: Houston, Indianapolis, Green Bay, Seattle
2nd Round: Denver, New England, Seattle, Green Bay
SB: Denver over Seattle (45)

@Kush15, can I change my mind and edit my picks? I feel like I need to differentiate more to have the chance to pick up a some points.

Yeah. I will go back through on Saturday, and as long as the edit date and time is before the start of the 1st game at 4pm ET, then they are valid. Just mark the post with an "*EDIT*" so it's easier for me

Denver, New England and Seattle are the only picks for Super Bowl winners. Interesting.

Houston, Indianna, Washington, GB
NE, Denver, Washington, SF
Denver, Washinton
Washington (51 total points)

I know, I know. I am going with my heart.

Woops, but I like the idea of Washington beating the 49ers. Kills 2 birds with one stone, I love the Skins and hate the 49ers I guess I'll change it. LETS DO THIS!

1st: Houston, Indy, Green Bay, Washington
2nd: Denver, New England, 49ers, Washington
SB!: Denver over Washington (49)

1st: Houston, Baltimore, Green Bay, Seattle
2nd: Denver, New England, Seattle, San Fran
SB!: New England over San Fran (48)

I'm most leery of my 1st round in the AFC. Houston and Baltimore seem to be in a free fall. I just haven't seen Luck fail in winnable games as much as Dalton. I can't put any faith in Ponder. I think Seattle's D matches up better against RGIII than most.

I feel pretty good about the 2nd round winners. Denver and NE stand out above the rest in the AFC to me. SF can put a lot of pressure on GB's o-line. Despite Atlanta's stellar record, they didn't impress me this with any of their wins this season.

I really want to watch a Denver vs. NE rematch and I expect Brady to do better in a cold game. I also want to see a SF and Seattle rematch. I expect SF to buckle down and play strong defense again, but Russell Wilson has been phenomenal lately.

I'd love another SF vs NE game, this is the only way to make it happen. The NE offense can't be as slow as it was last time right? I also expect Kapernick to be less reliable in a big game.

I didn't put much thought into this. Relied on gut calls and hopeful rematches.

EDIT: Switched RD 1 Indy to Baltimore. Almost everyone is picking against them in a game that hardly affects my bracket. I'm a little scared of Chuckstrong though.

1st Round: Minnesota, Washington, Indi, Houston
2nd Round: Atlanta, Washington, Denver, Houston
Super Bowl: Denver over Washington (37)

Playoff picks are subject to change before Saturday

Alright, I am in to play!

1st Round: Green Bay, Washington, Baltimore, Houston
2nd Round: Washington, San Francisco, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: San Francisco over New England (48 total points)

San Fran is playing against themselves in the Super Bowl? That hardly seems fair.

Edited below because I'm dumb.

McFinn makes Entry #20..................but he's Entry #1 with only 1 Super Bowl team..........who will San Francisco beat?

*EDIT*

Say you think Denver will win 34-24. That's 58 points. Say you and me are tied and going into the SB and we both picked Denver to win, and I picked 51 points, and the final score is 34-27. You win.

1st Round: Green Bay, Washington, Indy, Houston
2nd Round: Atlanta, SF, Denver, New England
Super Bowl: Denver over SF (58 total points)

Thanks Kush
