Finished Any Games Lately?

Just wrapped up new game+ on Mark of the Ninja. Totally enjoyable experience, and I may still try to 100% it with the last few achievements I'm missing, but the pile is beckoning!

Paper Mario Sticker Star. Very disappointed with the game.

Could you elaborate on why? I bought it with a gift card based on some positive videos I saw but I haven't opened it yet. If it's worse than I expected, I'll return it for a refund and rent it.

This is the first I've heard someone say they really don't enjoy the game. Which is not to say it's an invalid opinion, but I wouldn't return it unless Vrikk's tastes really align with yours.

I've finished a buncha stuff lately. Far Cry 3 last week, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack last weekend, New Super Mario Bros. U Friday night, and Binary Domain just now.

The real reason for the post: more people should play Binary Domain. After the disappointment I experienced with Gears of War 3, I was worried that Vanquish had spoiled me to any mechanically inferior third person shooters. Binary Domain isn't as slick but it has some very cool bosses, an interesting cast of characters, and some touching and/or poignant moments.

Edit: I'd like to have a list of games I've finished this year, but really I sell them after completion too often to be sure. I'd estimate 30 or so, strictly based on whether I saw the credit rolls or not.

Actually I can get the list of 360 games from my achievements..

Binary Domain
Far Cry 3
Trials Evolution
CoD: Black Ops 2
The Walking Dead
Assassin's Creed 3
Dark Souls
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Syndicate
Dragon's Dogma
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Fez
The Witcher 2
Mass Effect 3
Shadows of the Damned
Rage

So, 16 360 games.

Aha! I can use my 3DS and Wii play histories for this too.

3DS/DS

Pokemon SoulSilver
Super Mario 3D Land
Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy
Pokemon Conquest
Professor Layton and the Last Specter

Wii/Wii U - Nintendo Channel isn't on the Wii U, apparently, so I'm only listing what I know for sure.

NSMBU
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Sin and Punishment 2
The Last Story
Metroid Prime

Vita - Mutant Blobs Attack, mentioned above

So, 27 games. One every two weeks, on average. I'm sure there are a few more I'm forgetting, but my takeaway is that I need to play my handhelds more, and I need to stick with downloadable titles. I bought a lot, probably 15-20, and finished... 4.

Saints Row: The Third - I finished the main story, and most of the DLC, and the credits rolled. Was loads of fun, but I'm not going back for 100% completion.

I would like to take this moment to point out that Vrikk is a horrible human being. I once saw him punch an entire burlap sack full of puppies. Repeatedly.

True story.

AC: Bros in the 'Hood is down.

I think my favorite parts were clearing the Borgia towers and the Followers of Romulus levels which gave me that swell armor.

Finally got around to playing and beating Frog Fractions. I have no idea what I just played, but it was pretty glorious.

Resonance and I imagine that had I not played it in it's entirety today I would have gotten stuck on fewer puzzles. A very well put together adventure game, gripping, and with only a few niggles with puzzles which were not the most intuitive. The vast majority of them were entirely grounded in reality, however, and the writing was really impressive.

I tend not to like the point and click adventure genre but The Walking Dead and this are making me think that perhaps I don't like obtuse and opaque adventure games.

Waking Mars which was a very fun puzzle/farming game! That there's more than one ending was a surprise to me, especially as the second one was a great deal more satisfying.

Wow, I just played it. Yeah, words can't describe. Anyways, that was quite a ride. I highly recommend it.

Spoiler:

The bug porn is hilarious.

I don't think I've ever been as pleased to beat a game as finishing The Walking Dead. Not out of a sense of achievement, that was a totally satisfying story.

Just finished Driver: San Francisco. The main story, anyway-- but I have little or no desire to go back and finish all the challenges. S'okay. Kind of felt the need to destroy digital cars after some real-life car trouble on the return from the family holiday visit, so it served its purpose.

Just put away my normal run of XCOM Enemy Unknown. Easily GOTY and was very glad to see it recognized as such by many media outlets.

Hyetal wins the thread.

Yes, he does, hands down.

I only finished three games this year.

Walking Dead
Saints Row The Third
Pokemon Black

It was all the jetting to and fro around the globe, hobnobbing with the stars, you see.

*cough*

Let's see what the 2012 tally is...

Walking Dead
Mass Effect 3
Mark of the Ninja
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Jamestown
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Skyrim (main line and most guild quests)
Diablo 3 (still playing through Inferno, but the campaign is done)
Uncharted 1, 2, and 3
MGS4
Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP
Journey
Flower
Deus Ex: HR
Batman: Arkham City
Bioshock 2

I think that's it. I would like to put the finishing touches on Forza 3, but those last two achievements are going to take so damn long to get done, I don't think I have the fortitude. or the patience.

I spent New Year's Eve playing the last few sequences of Assassin's Creed 2, my 3rd playthrough of that game. Just before that I had finished the first Assassin's Creed, and I'm continuing on to Brotherhood. All these replays were inspired by finishing Assassin's Creed 3 recently.

I have put so many hours into these games, and I still love them. Nothing else scratches the same gameplay itch for me.

Limbo which was a good platformer where I wish they had alerted me, somehow, at the beginning that everything would try to kill me always. I increasingly find that my mindset matters when I approach a game, maybe I'm just used to being primed appropriately.

My total for 2012, even without bothering to detail it, is paltry at best. Maybe 5 games, 8 tops.

I played through Papo & Yo on Sunday. Obviously, it's a short game, but it was very very good.

I'm really appreciating short games that have a good focus. Games like Papo & Yo, Journey, and Portal are like well written short stories. Sometimes I want a quick read, while other times I like to dive into a novel.

Yay! Glad you got a chance to play it.

Just finished Spec Ops: The Line after picking it up in the Steam sale. I agree with most of the reviews: the gameplay itself is adequate if uninspiring, but the story is great in a grim, Apocalypse Now kind of way. Good sense of place, too. Not too long, I knocked it over in two decent sessions. Definitely worth picking up if you see it on sale.

I finished Spec Ops too. I kind of liked the gameplay. I think that the story was depressing and dark, but good. I'd definitely recommend picking it up if you see it on sale. (I got it for $5 with Bioshock and Bioshock 2 from Amazon with some promotional discount).

Also, I think that the multiplayer could be fun if there were more than a few people online or if the matchmaking was better. I played it for a couple of hours and got sh** on by people that had more perks/load outs opened up.

Just finished Nier. All I can say is wow.

Hyetal wins, no question about it!

My final tally for 2012 (and not necessarily in that order):
Skyrim (and then Dawnguard came out, and I haven't finished that, but I finished all other questlines, so still...)
Mass Effect 3
Limbo
Botanicula
Saints Row: The Third
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Zork: Nemesis (for like the gazillionth time, but who cares, I'm putting it on the list anyway)
Batman: Arkham City
Torchlight 2
The Walking Dead
Sid Meier's Civilization V (okay, you can never be "done", but having spent 43 hours and unlocked 64 achievements, I figure I'm done with the main game; still need to go back for Gods and Kings, though)
FTL
Bastion

Not too shabby, I'm actually pleasantly surprised!

Okay, here's my final tally for 2012:

Assassin's Creed 3
Nier
Starcraft II
Max Payne 1
Max Payne 2
Asura's Wrath
The Walking Dead
Shadows of the Damned
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Uncharted 3
Gears of War 3
Enslaved
Syndicate
Journey
999
Alan Wake

17 Games--actually a lot better than I thought I would have gotten done A good chunk was actually wrapped up in the last two weeks of the year. It's also a pretty good indicator of what I should be able to burn through this year.

My 2012 completed games:
New Super Mario Bros. U
Paper Mario Sticker Star
Super Mario 3D Land (all worlds)
Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance
Diablo III
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Borderlands
Mario Kart 7
Journey
Ico
The Binding of Isaac
Portal 2 (with commentary)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

And iOS stuff:
Groove Coaster Zero, Bar Oasis 1.5, Mikey Shorts Halloween, Demons' Score, Bar Oasis, Dream Chronicles, Mikey Shorts, Home Sweet Home, Cafeteria Nipponica, The Organ Trail, Diner Dash, Wind-up Knight, The Act, Are You Quick Enough, Diner Dash: Grilling Green, Peggle, Fairway Solitaire, Brave Beak, Sword and Poker, Cytus

Mine:
Journey
Persona 3 Portable
Analogue: A Hate Story
Mass Effect 3
Star Wars: The Old Republic (played up a character to 50, and did some end game dungeons/raiding)
The Broken Sword I
Fable III
FTL
Faerie Solitaire

And a couple of Android games:
Dungeon Village
Devil's Attorney

While I have not beaten many burlap sacks recently, the new Paper Mario game is not only extremely RPG light, it's the fact that the combat/gameplay is boring and useless. There are no experience points, partners, level ups, or special moves to use. All the gameplay ends up being is using the stickers you pick up to attack, but the stickers are one-time use. Therefore, if you don't want to lose your stickers then you end up ignoring all of the battles.

...and ignoring the battles makes sense since there's no point in engaging in them. They don't give you anything.

Graphics were good though. Story is predictable.

I have no idea what I finished in 2012. How do you guys know every game you finished? You either write it down or have exceptionally good memories.

I was just thinking the same thing. I'd have to sort through the pages of this thread to see what all I completed, though I remember finished Driver: SF the other night, as well as another game recently, though I've forgotten what it was already. Oh! And I guess it was this year that I finished Uncharted 1 & 2 as well as Heavy Rain. I think... Yeah, it had to be since I only got my PS3 this last summer. Oh, and MGS4. I think that's just about it.

I didn't write anything down, but I'm thinking maybe I should keep a record of sorts (yes, I'm insane, I know). What I did was look through the last couple of pages of this thread with a search for my name (I only stumbled upon this thread a few weeks ago), and then shifted through my Steam library, listing games by date last played. That's it. And I don't own any consoles, so that keeps things simpler, I guess.

My 2012 tally:

Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Battlefield 3
Call Of Duty: Black Ops
Cave Story+
Civilization V
Darksiders
Dead Space II
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Fez
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII
Halo 4
Halo Anniversary
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
Jamestown
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Limbo
Mario Kart Wii
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metroid Prime 3
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Super Meat Boy (100%)

26 games in all, which averages to about one game every 2 weeks. Not too shabby, considering the job, wife, kid, house. Normally I don't get in more than 1 or 2 hours a day, but looking at this list makes me realize I get in more gaming than I thought.
