Forza Horizon Catch-All

I just assumed it was an entirely fictitious festival thing that the devs made up for the game. :)

Ok. Fictitious it is. I guess the beautiful scenery put me in a dreaming stupor of a snooze

I can't find any 'club' options 'in game'. What am I missing?

Thx

It's one of the stations/shops in that festival ring. Might be called autoclub or something? When you pull in and check out the selections at that station, one of them is to search for a car club, I believe.

Ok. Thanks. Hadn't even thought of that.

It seems pretty great so far, but yeah, I could do with a lot less "Obnoxious Bro Simulator"

Don't worry. The bro-stuff fades almost completely into the background after the first hour or so.

(I thought the cut-scene content was a tad goofy, but oddly well executed on a technical level.)

I got this for SAGE day too. Just sent a request to join the GWJ club.

SAGE day?

Anyone else notice that the rally races are much harder than the regular races?

I just picked this up last night. I'm not sure how to look up clubs yet (I found the car club area but my list was empty), but when / if I do I'd love to join you fine fellows.

I should have any new club applicants in either tonight or tomorrow

What's the secret to getting off the line quickly in Forza? I'm actually playing Forza 4 and not Horizon, but I assume the technique would be the same and I'm guessing nobody is really playing F4 any more. I started messing about with the rivals thing yesterday and I notice that whoever I'm racing generally ends up with a huge lead right off the line. I find that I'm either spinning the wheels or taking off super slowly at the start. Is there a trick to it, or is it just a matter of finding the right amount of throttle for the car you're driving?

Up side to playing the old game, I've managed to pick off a couple people in a race or two and I doubt anyone will be around to knock me back to the bottom of the list.

Is it a hot lap event? If so keep in mind they aren't launching but continuing their run. I seem to usually get better launches, at least in the lower tier cars, than my rivals and I'm driving with all assists off, with manual & clutch giving me the edge.

Yeah, it's usually cos that ghost is of a second or third lap. Took me a little bit to figure that out in FM4 too. When you reach the end of your first lap, the ghost will reset at the start line, and then you'll have a fair race from that point forward.

Yeah, do a lap first and then you'll hit the start line for your next lap at full speed.

As for general off-the-line tips, don't bury your tachometer in the red by revving/holding the gas 100% during the countdown. It's a common mistake that will just make your tires spin off the line with no grip. I try to keep the gas held steady at an RPM that is just below the red zone.

Also LiquidMantis is right that you at least want to have your shifting set to manual if you're serious about getting better times. You'll want to shift up almost immediately off the line to help your tires get more grip at launch.

Since giving the Rivals stuff a go I've turned off most of the assists. I think braking lines is the only thing I have turned on at this point, which means I'm spending a lot of time doing donuts on the track. I'm running manual, but no clutch. Seems like that would be a hassle with the controller.

Other than playing a small amount of Burnout Paradise, F4 is my first racing game. I'm getting a kick out of learning to drive. I'm glad it came with my Xbox, as I probably would have never given it a try otherwise.

Who you calling a nobody? *runs from the room, arms flailing, sobbing*

I've sent requests for the club several times. You guys are beginning to give me a complex

Do I have to send them to specific people?

Just added you. Apologies. Lost in FM4 at the moment.

Question about car sharing: If someone puts up a car and I take it, does that remove it from the shared garage? Or will everyone still have access to it?

I'm pretty sure mare than one persn can "borrow" a car at once

Yup. Community cars are 100% accessible to all 24/7.

Hi All,

I just joined the GWJ car club today, just got this for my Bday. Hoping to join some races too. Xbox Callsign: McStabWithLies. I can't race this week, but maybe next week?

Thanks,
Nathan

The Pre-Order Car Pack is now available for 400 spacebucks. That's the hardtop Ferrari 458 for Aaron D., plus the SLS AMG, Virage, 370Z, and Golf R.

Awesome.

Wonder if they'll go on sale individually?

I'm guessing not. I think these kinds of packs (pre-order, VIP) have always been all-or-nothing deals. But since Forizon charges 240 a car anyway, what's an extra $2 for four more cars? (I guess that's probably been MS/PG's thinking all along...)

Good point.

I might have to dust off my Speed Wheel for this one.

Free (free!) expansion pack coming on April 16:

Forza Horizon 1000 Club

Maybe in recognition that Forizon is easier to "complete" than previous Forzas (even 100%'ing it took me about 30 hours) Playground is looking to keep it in players' disc trays by adding a unqiue challenge for every car in the game.

It also includes two new cars, a 1995 RUF CTR2 and a 1956 Ford F100, and 250 GS for earning medals.

Also, the latest patch sees Alice yakking to you less (specifically her reminders to buy more cars—ironic given the 1000 Club expansion), and apparently there's now a "Fast Travel Anywhere" ability available to purchase (but whether with in-game credits or space bucks, I don't know).

I'm still waiting on the Rally pack to go on sale, but once I knock off my last trophy in GRID, I think I'll return to Forizon for my four-wheel action.

Nice find, Gravey!

Looks like I'll be dusting off my Speed Wheel and firing up Horizon soon. The stunt challenges look particularly interesting.

The official word about the 1000 Club update:

offering you five brand new challenges for every car in the game [including DLC cars]. That’s more than 1,000 challenges across the hundreds of cars in the game.

With the 1000 Club Expansion, each car in Forza Horizon will have a number of new challenges associated with it. Once you select a car, you’ll see each of the challenges you can complete while driving it. These challenges come from practically all facets of Forza Horizon’s gameplay – from skills challenges like drifting or jumping, to plain and simple speed zone challenges and all points in between. There are location-based challenges, like drifting around the winding roads of Red Rocks, or new twists on familiar Horizon Festival events.

(My note in bold.)

Because it's late Monday afternoon and I've mentally checked out from work, I've sussed this out: It looks like half of the 10 achievements will require DLC or VIP cars (2 BMW, 2 Ford, 1 Lambo, 2 Nissan, and 2 Shelbys). Season Pass owners are well-served here.

To get the achievement for 146 different cars, if you don't have any pre-order or VIP cars and don't want to buy any DLC, then get the free Honda pack (143 disc cars + 3 Hondas).

Edit: Boy I hope all this speculation pans out tomorrow. Further: the cheapest way to earn all the medals should be 400 MSP (until/unless it goes on sale), by getting the November Bondurant car pack. That includes one BMW (2010 M3 GTS), one Lambo (2012 Gallardo Spyder), one Nissan (1993 240SX), and two Shelbys (2012 1000 and 1965 Cobra 247). The rest can be filled with free cars: one Ford is included with the 1000 Club update and the second Ford can be either the 1995 Mustang Cobra R (January Recaro) or 1966 Country Squire (February Jalopnik) (is that really a choice?), the second Nissan is the 1998 R390 (March Meguiar's), and the second BMW is the 2002 M3 GTR (April TopGear).

If you already own the VIP (Sesto Elemento), LCE (F-150 LCE livery, if that counts as a separate Ford), or the pre-ordered 370Z, the Nov pack is still the way to go.
