Star Trek Online Catch-All

Thanks Stele, I am a Trek-fan and like seeing the ships, locations, characters, etc. (though not Tribbles) but it seems to get off to a slow start. I don't even mind that the missions seem pretty much all the same, though it is a waste compared to some other Trek games that actually had puzzles that sort of fit in, just that the combat is not much of a challenge at level 4 or 5.

I was just going through my RSS feed backlog and found this.

Fleet Week has arrived in Star Trek Online! From now until Thursday, August 23rd, around 10am PDT, players can earn bonus Fleet Marks 24 hours a day!

Along with the normal queued and mission-based content that provides Fleet Marks, players can earn Fleet Marks by running a special daily Foundry mission. Starfleet players ranked Lieutenant 9 and above can contact Commander Selyn, and Klingon players ranked Commander 22 and above can contact Commander Vorbog, by clicking the ‘Available’ tab in the Mission Journal (default key “J”) to accept "Investigate Officer Reports (Daily)".

So yeah, if you're around and wanna hit up some STO, try and get it in before Thursday! We could use some more Fleet Marks.

Meerkat, I'm well experienced with mmos, and that may have affected my expectations of the game. I enjoy the space combat (because it reminds me of the old Starfleet Battles games), the ground combat (a bit like a Traveller encounter, played out) and exploration missions (the ones where you warp into a system and see what's there). I also have enjoyed the little pvp I've done.

The rest of the game? Kind of meh. I play it for those things, for atmosphere, and to hang out with anyone who is on (the latter is rare these days). I use my crew missions to get most of my xp when I'm not playing much, then I burst for a few days or weeks of really getting into it. Then it's back on the shelf again.

So if you don't have a few things you really like, try something else. World of Tanks is an unabashed money-grubbing game, but multiplayer tactical armored combat is a thing of wonder, worthy of many replays. Secret World is an old-school MMO with a Guild Wars like skill system where everyone can learn everything - no levels - and lots of creepy horror tropes. LOTRO is Middle Earth with fantastic stories, maps and decent combat, and lots of bells, whistles and chrome. And Eve Online is... Well... Violent, grindy, detail-oriented, exciting at times and oddly satisfying amid the rubble of your latest business venture...

My character is Kris@Hockosi and I would like an invite. I play occasionally, want to see the starbase. I wouldn't mind playing a little often if I can contribute to something, have a goal.

I just got back from a vacation. Did you get an invite, Hockosi?

I'm playing again. What can I do to help? Anyone want to get groups together (lvl 50)? I've just been playing stories. Great stories for a game, IMO. Much more like episodes. They've done well with the game. Msg me ingame or on steam for invites.

What I'm missing is the mmo/community aspect, so please, let's get social!

Sorry, have not been on recently. I'll try to stop by more.

Hey all. I left the guild to try out a different one and see if it's a good fit. If they're cool, I'll let you all know here and maybe we can all move over. That way we actually have people to talk to when we're online.

The next time someone logs in, if it's possible, can you pull out like 2 mil from the fleet credits in the fleet bank and send them to me? This fleet actually has a tier 3 base and you can actually spend credits! Lol. I don't know if you can withdraw or trade fleet credits, but I thought I'd ask. Since there's only 6 or 7 active members, that sounds like a good split of the credits. Hopefully I can get some more modern equipment.

I guess I'm fine with that (I'm not playing all that often, and TL2 comes out soon...). I don't really want to go pulling out huge sums of cash without a few more voices of support, though.

Thoughts, anyone?

I didn't put any cash in, I don't really have a say...

How much is even in there? I used to throw in a spare few thousand whenever I was grabbing crafting materials, but I don't remember there being a ton of cash on hand.

I'd hate to see the fleet bank broke if anyone new wants to try the game and could use it.

Last I saw, 20 mil. Can someone invite my alt, Shoale@Shoal07 when they get a chance.

It's not like I want to pillage from CwJ - there's just so few people that even log on, those things are going to waste.

I sent your alt an invite.

I can't seem to figure out how to send Energy Credits via the Mail system. You can send items easily, but Energy Credits don't really have a "drag 'n drop" feature.

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure sending EC would be pointless. I believe the shops in the stations work off of fleet credits, which you earn by donating towards station missions.

PS: Can someone set it so that Ensign's can donate to fleet projects? My alt doesn't have much, but I can toss a few things in there if y'all open it up.

I'll try to change the setting tonight when I get home from work! If someone does it before then, post here.

Done and done. I'd promote you, but I don't know your STO name.

Here's a Season 7 preview, if anyone is still playing STO.

It's supposed to be released in November. The most exciting part to me is a new Sector being released, with new planets, etc. There's a new STF, as well.

Perhaps I'll boot 'er up again! Assuming I'm done with XCOM and Torchlight II by then...

I am still out there about every other day or so - I am still with Starfleet Elite Force and have been playing more on the Klingon side lately...

I got lost in Planetside 2, Stronghold Kingdoms, Chivalry, and god knows what else. I want to play star trek still. I'm buried alive in games, but I actually like too many of them. I will attempt to play and push aside PS2 cause it's a beta.

Hailing Frequency - Greets all just dropping in to see how the crew is doing....

Howdy! Haven't touched the game in awhile, but Cryptic apparently noticed and sent me a code for the "Enterprise" costume set.

So yeah, I'll have to boot 'er back up, methinks.

Stopped playing this, along with everything else, for a few moments as I dig a career change kinda thing. Playing for about 5 minutes each night now to get me a Chel Grett cruiser thingie, so that's cool. At some point I may even actually play the game.

Oh free ships... maybe I should dust it off.

I'm looking forward to seeing the stats on the Ambassador. It'll help me decide if I should go for it or a Fleet Star Cruiser as my end-game tank/support cruiser.

The Ambassador is an interesting ship - great for Commanders and Rear Admirals. Being a Vice Admiral though, I'm not too keen on getting it right away. I'm more focused on getting my hands on an Odyssey Star Cruiser from the fleet, or waiting to see what new Cruisers come out with the future updates.

Yeah, I want that Ambassador-class ship. I just reinstalled and will hopefully check it out tonight. I tried logging in last night and Perfect World was giving me crap about it...
