Steam Winter Sale 2012 - Seriously Guys, It Was Over Two Months Ago! Move Along!

I got to dip my toe into FTL today and can confirm that it looks to be a game worth its full price. Thanks again to Eleina and silentsod for the gifts (silent's came second so I sent it back his way).

I am absolutely not even going to look at mine

I like the part where it says I've played TF2 just about more than every other game, combined.

The number and percentage played are a mixed blessing; the data is fun to look at, but its reliability and historicity are forever suspect. For example, for all of my extolling of the Witcher series' virtues, I've never played my Steam copies. What I need is a Google Sheet that can pull this information in and let me-- [hits self in head with a fish]

What I need is to play more games. I'm a computer meta-gamer, spending more time reading about them and agonizing over what to buy next than playing.

Many thanks to Mogg for gifting me Botanicula! I take back most of what I said about you!

Thanks for Assassins Creed Brotherhood maddoc1979! He initially sent me SR3, but I had to turn it away only to have something else sent shortly after. With generosity like that, I imagine him as the kindly, old, small-town doctor in Field of Dreams.

I've been eyeballing the low-level LOTRO starter pack (Steely Dawn), but it says you have to have the base game on Steam. Will it not work if I don't have it installed in the steamapps folder? I downloaded it directly from Turbine, because I wasn't finding the high resolution client on Steam. Any ideas?

$5 for Oblivion is a steal. If you don't have that yet, grab it. It's not a terrible game.

Tired of spending all your money on Steam games?
Pile getting too big to even contemplate?

Just spend 4.99 and buy FTL. Before you know it January 5th will have arrived and you'll still be playing FTL.

Definitely.

I got it at the Thanksgiving sale and somehow have 60 hours already.

Heck, I'd pay $5 for Nehrim (Oblivion total conversion). Their follow up, Enderal, is one of the reasons I grabbed Skyrim.

Many thank yous to Bonus Eruptus for the generous giftage!

Had a nice conversation with superjars last night, and he surprised me this afternoon with the sweet gift of Fortune Summoners!
Thank you so much!

So what are the chances that Chaos on Deponia will go on a further sale? It's $10 now at 50% off. I've got the first one and loving it so far. I want to get the second, but not sure if it's going to go on flash sale. Do I wait?

On the other side, definitely getting Sins of a solar empire Rebellion. Is anyone doing a four pack?

I've played They Bleed Pixels long enough to know that my vocabulary has been enhanced to the point that I can now make a pirate blush if I needed to. Holy COW I thought Super Meat Boy was difficult. This game has brought me to an entirely new level of frustration. That being said, I also can't stop playing!

Belated thanks to Malor for getting me two steps closer to owning all of Fallout!

Many thanks to Mogg for the gift of Dungeon Defenders. I shall protect my torture chambers to the last man!

Yay

It's distressingly compelling isn't it? Or maybe compellingly distressing? Either way, it's a winner.

As a bonus, my post thanking him pushes me 1 post closer to being promoted past Consultant ;)

Fantastic game! But let me just share with you a little bit of useful information as someone who just finished this game yesterday. When you get to the factory, stop playing. Trust me.

Many thanks to Mateo for Jet Set Radio. Hoping I can get it running well on a laptop with intel HD 3000 graphics so I can play it in the living room. Since it's so old, I figure it'll work just fine, but ya never know.

Poppinfresh is both a gentleman and a scholar for gifting me resonance.

Now that I'm back from the cottage, I'm looking forward to doing some gifting of my own!

In other news, I picked up XCOM. Best decision of this year! Such a great game.

Also, War for Cybertron was on sale?! How did I miss that?! Durnit!

If you struggle, you can also drop 400 space bucks on the 360 version. On sale until the 31st December.

Ooh, looks like I may have a reason to dust off Oblivion and Skyrim and play through each again...

Also, glad to finally get in on the Steam Sale Giving Spirit. Carpe Fulgur does a good job bringing games over to us Westerners, so I was glad to pass it along!

I bought Scribblenauts Unlimited on Christmas Eve (on Amazon, but still). I dealt with a bully by adding the adjective 'sweet' to him. After that, the kid who was being bullied walked up to him and ate him.

I recommend this game.

A big thanks to Ahrezmendi for the gift of Prototype - it looks good, and I hear the stealth base elimination missions are a lot of fun

I bought my wife a LOTRO pack last sale, and she had to dl the base game from Steam to get it working. I don't know if there's a way around that or not. She's not technically proficient enough to care about doing it any other way, and I didn't know about there being client quality differences.

The whole mechanic of becoming various people in the world is one I haven't seen in any other sandbox game, and it's a lot of fun.

Hah the farming sim won the vote, I'm actually tempted in getting it. Which is sad.

Also Reccetear is on sale, if you don't have that already what the hell is wrong with you. Go get it and play now.

But the voting's not over for another 8+ hours?

Wishful thinking.

Or maybe it's time travel.

You'll know in one hour

*tardis sounds*

Thank you to the lovely SallyNasty for Galactic Civilizations Complete Pack.

Dude, you win. Hands down, no question about it. ^_^

About Alpha Protocol, it was by no means a perfect game, but I had lots of fun with it. It didn't overstay its welcome, there are a few choices, you can choose to handle it in different ways (going in guns blazing, or play sneaky style). Definitely worth that price.

Also, I can't seem to stop playing Secret of the Magic Crystals. What the heck is wrong with me? I need an intervention!!!

Pffft..

And thanks to camnipotent for the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Pack!
