Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I use the BFF tree because it makes my Deathtrap able to mow through buzzards and vrakks.

That is pretty much all I use him for.

Codes for Golden Keys:

PC / Mac SHiFT Code: W3CTT-96CHC-WFBB3-B3BBT-XS66W
Xbox 360 SHiFT Code: WT53J-RJBXZ-6Z636-56J3B-RJ39R
PlayStation 3 SHiFT Code : WTWTJ-ZRHHW-JWWK3-9TKJB-ZKK53

Good until 2013.

Finally picked this up and tried out the gunzerker. Man I feel like I've got no accuracy at the range most enemies like to sit at and if I get in close with more than 2 of em around, I get shredded. Any time I try to pick off anyone from any distance I end up missing with like 75% of my shots. My only saving grace has been a gun with the increasing accuracy as it fires. Especially when I get downed.

Also, i hate the whole dual weild press RMB to fire the left gun / LMB to fire the right gun thing. Bioshock 2 did the same thing mapping the gun/plasmids like this. I can get over it eventually, but it becomes a pain.

You can turn off the trigger swapping in options.

Thanks! PC one worked for me.

I immediately went for Gunzerker, only to find I liked it least of the 4 standard ones...

I'd try them all to level 10-12...just to see

I wish that the Gaige DLC wouldn't be that pricey. She is a fun and varied class, but $10 makes it hard to recommend in my eyes.

I have put around 6 days into my level 50 Siren. If you do even half of that into a Mechromancer you are looking at paying like 14¢ US per hour. That is pretty much the cheapest entertainment expense per hour out there. Skip seeing a movie or a couple of over priced coffees or whatever and you will be good. /enabling

It's not hard to see where that money goes. I mean, she's a whole new class with new art, new skins, new heads, new skills, new voice work, etc. On the other hand, $10 does feel pretty steep. I mean, Rykin's right, if you play your Mechromancer for 6 days you'll definitely get your money's worth... but you can do that with any of the base classes as well, as he did.

For what it's worth, the Mechromancer is my favorite class. She's a shield-heavy class and can train her robot to restore shields, which works great in conjunction with a Bee shield.

The Mechro's fun and versatile. She can be specced to either be tanky or glass-cannony, or something in between. Of all the classes, Mechro with adjustable Discord/Anarchy is perhaps the most complex to play, since you've added "reload" to your list of skill management triggers. Accuracy/damage adjustment on the fly requires a fairly in-depth knowledge of game mechanics.

This is what draws me to her, but it is also a shame that so "few" people are going to use her since it is only a new character and not new missions/maps.

Looking at Lord of Destruction (You know, the Diablo 2 addon) you got two classes and a whole large-ish act. For around what, $40?

Breaking it down into single pieces makes clear that the price is fair for modeling, balancing, voice acting, etc.

Would you pay ~$40 to get Gaige and the 4 DLCs if you could get it only in one package?
I am not sure though how many people would pick it up at all if it would come out 6 or 9 months after the games release, with gamers moving on from games so fast today.

Yeah, I didn't realize at all that the mechromancer isn't included in the season pass. So if anyone sees this go on sale, be sure to announce it as I'd like to check it out - if the price is right.

Having been playing Gunzerker for the past couple of days, I gotta say at first I would have agreed. But now that I'm leveled up in the rampage tree, it feels like I can gunzerk forever. I try and save it for when my health is getting low to take advantage of the health boost that comes with it. And with an ammo regeneration mod and bullet absorb shield, I never need to scrounge for ammo.

Yeah, gunzerkering probably has the slowest payoff of the five classes. He can do and take some crazy damage once you get higher into the threes, but it takes longer to feel like you've settled into what the class can do than the others. Never-the-less, it has been my favorite class since the start. Anarchy Mechromancer is giving him a run for that spot though.

Except for those freakin' guys with shields. If you're solo those guys are the bane of a gunzerker... no way to have a robot/turret/decoy/teammate to distract them, or just to hold them in the air while you gun them down. They just stand there and gun you down from behind their shields.

Yeah same here, waiting on a sale before I pick this add on up. Looks like a fun class to play though.

I always used grenades or strafed them to get them. And most have a small hole in the shield you can hit. Especially the ones with midgets strapped on. And you can shoot the midget free for great distraction.

Throw a grenade behind them and they will often turn their shield that way to block the grenade and you can unload into their backs. And if they don't turn the shield that way then the grenade damage gets them. Also keep a plasma caster or other weapon with penetrating properties on you to cut through these shields like butter.

Torgue ARs are the most easily available AoE weapon; good for blasting through riot shields.

Yeah, I looked at the trees and I think I"m gonna go exclusively in the rampage tree.

And ooohhh ammo regen, I used that for the last 20hrs of my time in Borderlands 1. I could fire as much as I wanted and never think twice about having to look for ammo.

I always carry a Torgue shotgun, the more projectiles the better. The damage is ridiculous.

Let’s kick the New Year off right with SHiFT codes for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2!

PC / Mac SHiFT Code: K3CJT-FRWZK-KRBBT-BJJ33-CB6TH
Xbox 360 SHiFT Code: C3CT3-TTBF9-RH6JF-WF3T3-XR3T9
PlayStation 3 SHiFT Code: CJ53B-66ZH5-JWK5T-9TKB3-JHC39

These codes will be active through the end of January 6, 2013 – be sure to use them before then!

Aim for the feet or knees or the gun firing hand exposed by the shield.
Eventually he will take a hit and reel back with the shield held out, exposing his body.

But even though it will take a lot of shots, the explosive weapons are the best combination of efficiency and ease of getting rid of these bastards. Unless you are an elemental tree Maya.

Another technique is to plan out where you are going to lead them and then a judicious use of nearby elemental barrels. With the exception of the slag barrel, those make quick work of them.

And ooohhh ammo regen, I used that for the last 20hrs of my time in Borderlands 1. I could fire as much as I wanted and never think twice about having to look for ammo.

There are class mods for that but my favorite are Absorb shields. The highest I have seen is 23% chance to absorb projectiles which will add the ammo to your clip and ignore the damage of the absorbed projectile.

Thanks to all who continually post those shift codes in this thread. I've now got 20 keys for use whenever I seriously get around to playing this game.

There's a legendary shield that usually sit between 75% and 95% on its bullet absord chance. There's also a seraph one that is up in the 30s.

The only problem with the bullet absorb shields is that they only work when you have bullets flying at you. If you're fighting through an area like the animal perserve or up against one of the raid bosses that doesn't use bullets, you can still run out.

Not sure how many bullets we'll see in the thrid DLC either.

Thirded.

I've been hearing a lot of love for Tiny Tina.

I need an explanation as to why.

The "young innocent looking girl talks and acts like a f*cking psychopath but still insists on what are supposed to be cute things like stuffed animals and tea parties" is a tired shtick that, sure, it CAN be funny, but the only way this iteration of it would be is if you think hearing white girls talk about badonkadonks and things being crunk is ironically amusing or some crap. The most I can give is the voice actress (I'm guessing Ash from Hey Ash Watcha Playin'?) does the role as it is written to be.

Plus, it's weird how she goes from acting like an annoying 13 year old to an annoying less-than-thirteen year old.

Spoilers for the last Tea Party quest below:

Spoiler:

I understand that there's an intended reasoning behind her behavior. Flesh Stick sold her parents out it sounds like, though there's little chance to understand who the parents are or what they did or who they were sold out to (I just LOVE how often this game expects you to pick up on dialogue in the middle of a firefight). She saw her parents get killed at a young age and it has traumatized her. She is probably mentally stuck at the age she saw her parents killed at but due to having seen such violence has been "matured" at an inappropriate time and in an inappropriate way so as to screw her up. Her empathy is f*cked up and she wants to kill bandits, in particular Flesh Stick.

That's great and all, but there are a lot of better ways to do this, and better, more disturbing ways to pull the character off. Of course, that's not the point of Borderlands. Borderlands is a f*cked up world where everything is light hearted and funny. But Tiny Tina is not funny.

Or if she is, then she is way off the mark of my brand of humor. Then again, nothing in Borderlands is really laugh-out-loud funny to me anyway.

I get that humor is the most subjective to all things, but I've heard way too many people talk up Tiny Tina. I've heard about Tiny Tina the most of any NPC. And she is, quite frankly, boring and on occasion just plain annoying.

Can't say you're wrong. Some people love her and some people hate her. You could say she's a symptom of a generation that has equated randomness with humor, but I'd like to think she's a little bit deeper than that, and I know that Ashley Burke is talented enough that she doesn't need to lean on lazy humor like that. Of course, that doesn't mean she's not being lazy.

The fact that you've heard so much about her may very well be because she's so incongruous. She stands out not because she's an exceptional character but because she doesn't fit.

I'm going to say it's a brand of humor thing, because Borderlands is really laugh-out-loud funny to me, frequently.

Well, the one thing I'll give this game is that the characters sort of stand out better than previously. My friend kept talking to me about how evidently all these characters are related to Moxxi and such, and when he said "Scooter" I said "Who?"

Playing through Borderlands 2, I don't always remember characters by name, but I remember personality and such a lot better at the very least.
