Random thing you loathe right now.

I like to imagine HP was started by HP Lovecraft and since his death it has morphed into a crazed Cthuloid worshiping cult that amasses its power by overcharging the public for ink.

What sort of creatures produce ink?

I like HP's corporate products but their Pavilion consumer line are a plague. I was working for Geek Squad when Vista launch and literally all they did was change the image they put on all their XP hardware. They didn't even increase the amount of RAM the systems had and in some cases, we were selling bundle packages with HP printers that didn't get Vista drivers for 6 months after it shipped. Even though the bundles included those specific printer models and advertised the systems as running Vista.

But yeah, what dejanzie said. Windows 8 is so much faster than Vista or 7, it's kind of amazing. If you don't want the Metro UI (and I don't blame you), just get a utility to make desktop mode the default and you're golden.

You better listen to this guy. He means business.

Am I dead yet?

Nope.

They cannot be named.

That my wife is now sick right before Christmas. And I'm thinking that I will be next.

Man, we are dealing with that too. Except we are both sick, and the kids aren't - so there is no sleeping in allowed.

My wife just called from work; she feels like she's coming down with something, too. And at 34 weeks pregnant, it's not exactly the best timing. Worst of all, I think i may have given it to her; I had an active cold for like a day and a half last week. At least she has the next few days off to rest!

Parents giving me a guilt trip because I didn't want to go to church with them....

The person I need to talk to get my son's birthday off is out and I have to work that day. Fu--.

The "music" kids listen to these days. God, I feel old.

My grandparents, in their 80s and married for 60 years, separated in October.

Tonight was the first time for as long as my dad has been around where we didn't have a Christmas Eve get together with the whole family at my grandparent's place.

From what I hear, my grandfather has never been this happy in his life. And it's nice seeing my grandmother get off her butt and start working towards not needing a walker to get around.

I don't hate it because it's new. I love new music. But if I here some wub-wub crap one more time I'm gonna beat-beat dem no good kids.

I'll take wub-wub over auto-tune any day of the week. Auto-tuning kills my faith in humanity.

That sucks... hope she feels better soon and that your Christmas is good despite it.

So sorry, I hope it clears up quickly without complications.

Just heard from my dad, Mom has some sort of severe headache and they are off to urgent care.

I'm spending Christmas holed up in a small bedroom in my wife's parents house because any social interaction with her family causes me to panic. I've only left to open presents.

Urgent care was closed, they proceeded to the ER. Mom got a CAT scan; looks like it was a stroke.

I want to swear, and throw things, and hug my mother, and not have a cold so I can go sit with my father at the hospital, and tell my mother in law to stop telling the same story over and over about the neighbor I've met once who had a stroke recently.

SixteenBlue, hang in there.

GOod luck, Katy.

Not only did Charles Durning die, the article did not mention his role on Everybody Loves Raymond, which is pretty much all I've seen of him...to youtube!

Thanks, 1Dgaf.

Mom is at the ICU overnight, and was feeling enough better to be grumpy at the nurses.

Dang Katy. Not on Christmas. That's gotta suck and I hope things turn out better for my favourite yarn-monger.

Missed Christmas dinner because of a migraine. Took some painkillers and hit the sack, then I got up at 10 and ate supper while everyone else was watching TV.

But that isn't even my loathe.

I can't get to sleep. It's 3 am and I'm leaving the house at 6:30 to line up for some Boxing Day stuff.

Ugh.

I'm sitting here hoping this winter weather doesn't get me stuck in Florida for another day. I want to go home!

Being at work the day after Christmas.

I know, I know. First World Problems. But there are about 3 cars in the parking lot, it's snowing outside, and the only sound I can hear is me typing.

Right there with you buddy, right there with you. And we're about to get hit with a snowstorm, so getting out of here this afternoon is going to be a bear as well.

I am going to a meeting in a few minutes, driving on the fun roads. With any luck I will get to post the news in the love thread though. It is at least a career making chance.

For me, it's coming back to a bunch of emails and being told right away that the two fixes I wrote before Xmas both failed to fix the customer issues. Also 2 months of project time reporting to catch up on.

"Sorry we let you wait all last week on that support ticket. Can you try converting those files again, but using the conversion tool released by that other company 2 years ago, instead of the one from 2 months ago? We're still not setup to use the results of that latest release. Oh, and good luck finding that older version of the tool since they removed the download link recently."

Good thing my boss has only been riding my *ss every day to get this thing wrapped up before the end of the year...

That is the loneliest sound in the world for a reporter. At least at my new reporter job I will be able to type in a bar, coffee shop, at home, at a restaurant - anything with people.
