Battlefield 3 Catch-All

Yeah, Aftermath is the shiznit. And it's plenty busy on the 360.

It seems a lot of the servers I played on have disappeared because I rarely play on a server with green ping anymore. I think green is under 80 ping. A lot of the time I play with Pikey it ends up being over 100.

And Pikey's ping is somehow -6, right?

Most of the time it's between 6-8.

Yeah, it goes up to 8 when he streams the Twilight movies on his second monitor.

you're just jelly of me and my robert pattycakes.

Also Titanis/Gimpy, You know, I am actually the 'good guy' here. Low ping = disadvantage pretty much if you're up against someone between 100-150 ping.

plus, there's a reaosn why I always want to 'choose servers' I absolutely hate it when my momvements are clunky. >:P

Thinking about getting back into this now that there are Amazon deals on Premium...
Full game with premium, 29.99

So I'm wondering, since I already have BF3, can I buy the full game again with Premium without any issues? It seems like that should work, but just want to make sure there's not some conflict I am missing by not getting just the Premium upgrade directly from Origin, which is 10 bucks more.

Even if you couldn't, I am sure you could contact EA's live support about it. Maybe it's cause they're on such back heel with competition from steam and what not, but they're surprisingly generous with solutions often times... though it may take a couple tries before you get them to do something.

One way or the other 30 dollars for Premium pass + the game is a damn good deal.

Ah hey it looks like you jsut had to scroll down a bit for an answer. ;p

I've been wondering (as many others have) if you get two separate keys with "BF3 Premium Edition" (so I could upgrade my Limited Edition account to Premium), and stopped by Best Buy today... I asked a few guys in the gaming section if they knew if the "Premium Edition" (i.e. Game + Premium, not the "premium service" which still costs twice the price) came with two separate codes, and none of them knew, but the third guy I asked decided to buy the game himself to find out. He said he had planned on buying it anyway, so why not now, so he could answer my question. He bought it, opened it, showed me it had two codes (one for game + "headstart kit" and another for Premium), so I bought my self a copy. I got home, went into Origin to "redeem code" put the premium code in, and even though in Origin, it still says "Battlefield 3 Limited Edition," it downloaded Close Quarters and Amored Kill (I already had Back to Karkand from the Limited Edition), and I can play it now. This is contrary to what EA Support (help.ea.com, live chat) told me, but yes, the boxed version of "Premium Edition" did come with two separate codes and worked to upgrade my Limited Edition to include the premium content, plus I still have the regular game code, I can use for a second computer when friends are over or to give to a friend, all for only $25. I can't say for sure if that's also true for the downloaded version, but at least I know the boxed version is like that. :-)

If they have two codes for the boxed version, there' no way they made some special 1 code version for online versions.

Thanks yeah I did see that but since it was for the boxed version still wasn't 100% sure. However I agree that it can't possibly be different for the online download, it's just a case of minor paranoia on my part

edit: purchased and two codes were given. So I have an extra bf3 LE code I might pawn off on my brother...

So right now where's the best place for a Canuck to get premium? Origin has it on "sale" for $39.99, which is basically the same price as bf3 + premium most places, I'm hoping there's somewhere at the $20-$25 price range.

Can you buy from Greenmangaming? They have a 30% off code on the site that will work. $30 US.

Whoo! I got my EOD bot kill. Very satisfying.

I'd loiter around an mcom with it as defender. I lined it's tracks up with the mcom so I could just roll in and set light to anyone who tried to arm it. Not as easy as it sounds but a reasonable strategy. I was better when I realised I didn't have to deploy it at my feet and then drive it to my desired location. You can deploy it next to the mcom and then run off and hide.

Turns out it doesn't matter, brother got me premium this morning. Woohoo!

Now to find time to play this between Mechwarrior and Planetside...

BF3 tonight? I still haven't played any of the Aftermath stuff. I hopped on the other night but ended up just playing CQ with Pikey.

I'd love to, but Wipeout has come into town so I probably won't be on tonight.

I'd love to play as well, but am out of town.

Just had a great game where I snagged another kill with the EOD Bot. That's fun. I need to do that more often. He thought he was safe in the bushes. He thought wrong.

Stylez recently got Premium and I bought it a while ago but have barely touched it. We played a little bit last night and I forgot how so damn fun this game is! Plus one of the more recent patches (or maybe a video driver update) seems to have brought a substantial frame rate increase for me as well. I'm up for playing this any time over the next few days.

If you want to set a time, I've got all day today. Or just send me a Steam or Origin message. I'm not always the best about seeing those immediately as I'm often at then away from the computer quite a bit so my status may not always be accurate, but I'll see it eventually.

Just did a little sniping with the L96 (for the dog tag.) I can see myself getting hooked on it. I still have the problem of setting up to snipe and not seeing anyone for, what feels like, twenty minutes but getting a head shot when only the top third of a guys head is showing is quite a thrill. I'm going to try to run and gun with it (i.e. follow my squad and snipe from the back of the pack.)

If we get a group together count me in.

If I can stay awake today when I get home from work I'll try and hop on and join you guys if you play.

I'm in for a game or two if you see me online! I'm on there as PixelSynth.

I just pulled off something awesome on Epicenter TDM. For those that know the map on the upper left end of the map there is a spawn that has a view down both of the streets. Down one of the streets there is a lot of soft cover (stuff you can shoot through) but it is hard to advance through the street because both ends have much better cover.

The opposing team was spawning at the upper left of the map. I was in the middle of the street with the soft cover. Near there spawn there is a crack that runs down the middle of the road that provides some good cover. I was staying behind the soft cover and I was taking out a lot of people that had really good cover. I even got a couple of double kills with grenades. I was using a suppressed G3A3 and suppressed 1911.

Eventually they got mad at me so I needed to get to better cover to avoid being killed. I ran out from my cover just and made it to the crack in the road that was near their spawn. I crawled all the way to the back of their spawn and took out their most dug in defenders. I then proceeded to obliterate squads that were trying to peek corners against my team members farther down the street. I probably got a dozen or more kills by pulling off this risky sneak attack. My run ended when I was looking for ammo a Recon surprised me and we ended up killing each other when I was forced to use my 1911.

When I was crawling behind their lines my heart rate started to climb. That hasn't happened to me for a while in BF3.

Double post because no one has posted for over a day.

Old video but I've just seen it for the first time.

Whoa, but lots of clueless people that he ran over as well. Some just stayed crouched as he ran over them heh

That video is great. Just played a game where we were in that exact spot with the tank but we resorted to the more traditional shells and machine gun approach.

At last I have Location Scout and can close out Jack of all Trades. I enjoyed my time sniping with the L96 (and I now have the ability to snipe and counter snipe which I lacked before) but, for my own sanity, I'm going to have to take a break from that rifle for a month or two.

Belatedly I found that Rush games on Metro, Grand Bazaar and Wake Island were good for sniping opportunities.

I just noticed in the chat for that video that vehicles weren't allowed. There was an auto warning going nuts for him getting kills with a vehicle. I would have gladly been kicked or banned from a server to get an opportunity like that.
