2012: Unofficial GWJ Secret Santa 6.0 feat. Trichy Claus

I reprofiled an old carbon steel knife with the stone I got from last year's Seekret Santa and stropped the hell out of it with the gift I got from this year's. Now it is shave sharp and ready to skin an alligator.

Are alligators a big problem where you live?

You never know with global warming.

I read it as a reference to his skin quality, but ymmv.

Alligators ate my aunt's hound dog when I was a kid. WHERE WERE YOU, PALEOCON?

Sorry, man. I was sort of busy working out with Ra's Al Ghul.

I'm glad you enjoyed your gifts Jayhawker. There was supposed to be a card in the box but I guess it fell out before I sealed it up, sorry about that.

Not anymore.

Yay, Bennard! I hope you enjoy the book, I read a lot of reviews and listened to several samples before settling on that one. And you almost got 7 Wonders instead of TTR Europe, but when you posted your wish list, I made the switch. They both look like pretty awesome games, so I gifted myself 7 Wonders.

The recycled motherboard dog ornament is from Greater Good. It's a really cool program that donates a lot of money and support to a variety of charities. I like to give it a plug whenever I can. Plus, they've got cool stuff that you don't see everyday and it's all fair trade.

Secret Stanta left a package on the porch today.

I have no idea what's inside, but it looks like Jayhawker went to town on my gifts this year. I hope to see you at PAX East or maybe Minpencon or something so I can give you a manly hug of manliness in thanks.

I'll post pictures of them all unwrapped sometime Christmas night.

Sweet! Glad you're getting use out of it already:) So did you leave it virgin or use Stropping paste?

So far I have just used it clean. I will hit one side with paste but have yet to decide what grit.

Rubb Ed is an awesome Santa, I'm really lucky I got him.

Feliz Vinniedad to all the secret Santa goodjers!

Feliz Vinniedad to all the GWJers in general. Jayhawker, I plan on opening your things first. The suspense is kinda killing me.

Photos will be posted when I get a free minute tomorrow.

Rubb Ed and I will be opening our presents around 9 AM Phoenix time. I will post photos of the carnage sometime later in the day.

Thanks in advance to our two Secret Santas.

Came home tonight to find a package I can only assume are from my secret Santa. Thank you! I will be opening tomorrow and try to post pics later.

Merry Christmas, GWJ. Hope you all have a nice holiday. Hope all is well. But, most importantly, hope my Santee liked his gifts.

Merry Christmas to all the Stantees! I had so much fun coordinating this, and it's always amazing to watch the cheerful generosity of Goodjers at work.

Let the unboxening begin!

Here's the before picture:

Cryptic, but I can tell much research was done!

SallyNasty rocks! These two books are awesome!

Combine that with Batman Arkham City, and that's a Secret Stan well done!

I can't wait to read the Hobbit to Olivia!

Merry Christmas Santa Nasty!

You have your own timezone, thats awesome!

Glad you liked, Mateo! Merry Christmas!

Feliz Vinniedad!

UPS has failed my secret Stantee -- they're now saying the package I sent out over a week ago will maybe arrive on 12/27. I feel terrible.

So let's find out what I got from Jayhawker.

Awesome. This shall be going on my desk at work. And by desk I mean shelf. I'm not good enough for a cubicle. It's going right next to the Portal Turret.

I hope this is one of the backwards compatible games for Xbox 360. I've never played a Fatal Frame game, but they've gotten a lot of accolades.

I find it amusing I recently asked Dimmerswitch to let us know how the Cryptozoic Walking Dead game is, and here I have the other variant. I'll try my best to play it ASAP.

I don't know if I can have that hanging around the offices of MAJOR SHOPPING NETWORK, but I'll see what I can manage.

Thank you very much Jayhawker. This was a pretty awesome group of gifts.

Well, considering that Arizona does not follow Daylight Saving Time and people get confused, I simply co-opt it. After all, Phoenix is the capital.

Also, the gift opening has been delayed as we need naps.

Well, it's Christmas Day, and time to see what Rallick has generously gifted me and mine. Foreshadowing - Home run!

First, the Mysterious Packages themselves...

IMAGE(http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv72/RobearGWJ/IMG_0241_zps8eece5a1.jpg)

Hmmm. Looks like... A shirt, and a dvd... Maybe a game? Let's open the shirt first.

IMAGE(http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv72/RobearGWJ/IMG_0242_zps7159597e.jpg)

Oh noes, not a shirt! A talking Dalek! "Ex-ter-min-ate! Ex-ter-min-ate!" Awesome! He'll get a place right next to the monitor, and I can keep phrases queued up for appropriate use in, uh, family discussions.

Obviously, my gift-judging skills are well below the gift-selecting skills of a Rallick. And on to the dvd...

IMAGE(http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv72/RobearGWJ/IMG_0243_zps1edea932.jpg)

Wrong there, too! Fancy Video Game Music ftw! This will be the soundtrack of my next two weeks (which consist of me trying to cram as much gaming as possible into one vacation) so it's totally appropriate.

Thank you tricksy Rallick for surprising me with the wonderful gifts! Santa grade - A+. And Merry Christmas to you!

Yep, its backwards compatible! I was hoping you had not played it, and from stalking, it seemed like you hadn't. It seemed like an awfully big hole in your gaming history for someone that seems to like survival horror.

I hope you enjoy it!

Did you just start a new tradition with a Han-O-kuh Hatchet? ;)

That would be Hawnukkah 'hawk.

No lie, I got two Chatchets for Channukah.

Also, who the heck sent me $25 in Riot points. Thanks!

Squee9 wrote:

That was me. Sorry about the piss poor packaging of all of it; the last couple months in my life have been intersecting. I got scared at the last minute and got everything through Amazon; problem is some of it went through Prime the others didn't.

All told you should have gotten a Black Mesa mug, coffee press, Space Invaders t-shirt and, the Riot points; anything else you receive is some other stalker.

The festive day arrived and I opened my massive gift box from Mr. Michael Zenke!

Lots of boxes in there! Also, you must have figured out that we go through snacks like crazy on game nights, as there were an excellent variety of tasty morsels packed in there. (Wasabi peas are a favorite, Pocky disappeared immediately, and the Ferrero Rocher christmas tree has already been killed off.)

The awesome haul included a copy of Risk: Black ops (Awesome!), Liars Dice, 2 sets of excellent Game of Thrones family sigil coasters, Lets Kill, Skull and Roses. Heckuva Haul man and you managed to get me boardgames I don't already own, a feat in itself! Thanks again Secret Santa!!
