It'll never happen but... wild game ideas

Where's my post-apocalyptic city-builder?

A Total War Game Based on the Battletech Succession Wars Board Game. I can't begin to describe how awesome this game was back in "the day", and the Total War Game Design is a perfect fit. The Clans are already in place as an expansion pack.

Yes, this.

Total War: Battletech would be quite awesome too. As long as it's based on the original setting and not the later one.

Agreed.

Ashes to Ashes: They all get up

Based in Europe. Instead of the black plague wiping out 75-200 million people in 10% of cases the dead came back to life (Zombies). You would start in a village and try to survive the on onslaught of the plague, only to find out some of the dead you are burning/buried come back to life and attack. People get bitten, others turn and people retreat to their homes, etc. Did I mention this would be a top down rpg? You and your family try to regroup and gather people, while building up defenses on your home. This game would revolve heavily on building up defenses, defending the town and trying to go get help. You could pick which area you choose to go find help from - other town, local lord, monastery. You can choose to relocate to each area, help fortify and defend against the horde of undead. All the while you and your party have to be on the defensive against people in your own base succumbing to the plague. Will you choose to help these people, some might get better, kill them immediately or toss them over your fortifications. Will the local lord choose to supply you with weapons or are you forced to use pitch forks and sharpened poles?

Tactical RPG (example: Final Fantasy Tactics) in the Star Wars Universe.

You'd play it.

A lot.

Was KOTOR not tactical enough?

Post-apocalypse city building is something I'd really like to see. Fallout3 was a bit unreal with people surviving 200 years after the war on tinned meals (and etc) but no real sizeable effort (that was visible to the player) to either import food or grow it. Fallout:NV improved on this, but still not to the extent to support the amount of people in the respective wastelands.

It would be really interesting to see a city builder taking into account trying to make something from the poisoned ruins of a fallen earlier city.

I do remember a fallout sim/management fan made game a long time ago. Never tried it though so good luck finding it. The closest thing there is, are a few zombie sims where you manage a town and such, forgot the name. Mostly not that deep or realistic.

An RPG that really took its decision making seriously, bad decisions included. RPGs tell you that your decisions really matter, but there's always a way to get out of a situation. I'd love to see a game that would let you screw yourself over--for example, if you did too many side missions in Mass Effect 3, when you got to the end you just straight up lost the last battle and got a screen that said, "We told you to hurry."

I'd also like to get a Star Trek space combat RTS.

I remember playing Freelancer as a freighter ship that had a good number of turrets running goods from place to place with my 2 friends in their fighters as an escort, or with me in my freighter to hold the goodies while we pirate about.

I remember thinking how much better this could be if everything were somehow... bigger. I'm talking about bigger ships (maybe act as a mobile pirate base?) more people and more stuff to do. I know about Star Citizen but I honestly don't hold much hope for it becoming as big and varied as I would like. Maybe a cross between EvE online and Star Citizen, with more... everything.

Just give me freelancer 2 with a bit more depth in the combat, flight, and trade and I'll be happy. Not to deep though, never could enjoy a space sim.

I wouldn't mind a vampire game where the vampire hunters were the bad guys. The last boss could be Buffy. You'll get staked, but you win if you frame her for murder or kill one of her friends.

A free to play FPS that is super tight/responsive in the stylings of Quake/CS (I know I know, but I don't mean Quake Live).

- Everyone is a stick figure. You can't kill anyone by shooting any part of his body but his head, which grows like a balloon the more he gets hit until he eventually explodes/dies.
- Super powerful engine that is user map/mod friendly (a-la CS:Source).
- Super spectator friendly from the ground up.
- Community driven maps, the stock maps are just super abstract, mono-tone walls/boxes in a room.
- A HUGE and vibrant e-sports scene behind the game.
- A COMPETITIVE matchmaking system.
- Crossplatform play for sh*ts and giggles so I can poop on controller fumblers (no aim-assist Female Doggoes!).

Here's the kicker that really makes the game something that will never happen'.

- Monetized PURELY by two things, aesthetics-ONLY models and skins (none of that TF2 hats or Planetside's XP-boost bs) and the e-sports scene behind the game that's there just because... it's there.

I think I just have a lot of pent up furstration from BF3 completely failing to deliver on the spectator end of things. But yeah, that's the game I dream about making if some irresponsible idiot gave me unlimited resources and said 'sure do it'. I kinda realize I missed the point of the post and just wound up making up my DREAM PC shooter, but hey it's also something that'll never happen too!

ps. On a slightly different note, anything that would be JUST like the games Bullfrog used to do, particularly Dungeon Keeper. I just don't see games like those being made any more, and it makes me sad.

Make the Clan Invasion DLC, and you and I can be happy not buying it, and let other people be happy buying it.

Naah, I wanted isometric, strictly turn-based action.

That something I actually could see being made, seeing how strong the star wars brand is. Probable get turned into a facebook game or something though.

I'd love to see RPGs that rip off XCOM for the combat engine.

After playing Jagged Alliance: BiA, I'd like an isometric SWAT-style game with real tactics and equipment -- an isometric SWAT 4.

I'd also like an open world RPG set in the old West where you could play one of any number of roles -- farmer, prospector, gun slinger, sheriff, shop owner, bar keep, aboriginal warrior, etc. -- and live out that person's life, while the world is simulated in the background. Depending on your role, you could have a large or small impact on the world around you and no play-through would be the same.

If I'm not mistaken the Swat 2 was almost like that. It was isometric rts game where you controlled a swat team. Never played it though.

I want to see a space combat & mecha sim game that uses these, one controller in each hand.
Although that really requires VR goggles as well.

Or a space combat & mecha sim game that uses dual joysticks and dual pedals!

Google is your friend here, if there's a space combat game out there, Star Trek mods are the second thing to come out, the first are Star Wars mods.

I want a game that has an element of robot building. Let me put together a bunch of random components and let me see what works...kind of like a virtual Lego Mindstorms. But I'd also like to make them shoot things (because I like shooting things in games).

Amoral decision making. Black ops the way it happens in real life. Assignments given with no reason explained. Goals to accomplish with no preamble or conversation afterwards. Just a pay check and no questions. Ever.

Another game like Iron Storm.

Despite the glitches, bad graphics and horrible sound problems the game had a clear message of what really moves the world: greed. I loved Iron Storm especially the ending.

Ending spoiler.

Spoiler:

The hero, a decorated soldier, gets shot and killed when he learns the truth: that World War 1 never ended because it would be bad for the arms business. I loved it.

I was working on a Fallout/Dwarf Fortress/Tropico game years ago, but eventually lost the motivation while still in design.

Having dabbled for the first time in the Walking Dead, I've decided what I really want is for all the conversation stuff from SW:TOR to be put into a Walking Dead-esque format so I get can get all those stories without having to slog through the dull-as-ditchwater combat. They've already done all the animation and voice-acting, so it would be super cheap to do.

Not going to happen, of course.

Driving home from work I had an idea.

Squenix and Capcom team up to make a game similar to Dragon's Dogma. It is four-player co-op and aesthetically similar. It is a remake of the original Final Fantasy.

And now I'm sad because it won't happen.

Sword & Sorcery with Lost Technology Post-Apocalypse Metroidvania (a setting kind of like Adventure Time or Thundarr the Barbarian, yeah I bet you didn't know those two were related did you?)
SWAT Katz - Metroidvania Shmup hybrid, any Metroidvania Shmup Hybrid actually.
Near-future Post-Apocalypse Metroidvania (aka Fallout).

edit: and when I say hybrid I mean a game having split levels, you do on-foot exploration and then shmup in a ship. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is already a hybrid that uses shmup mechanics to maneuver in a metroidvania environment

I remember their was actually an rpg mixed with a shmup at some point. Where the random battles were fought in that style while you ran around planets doing things. On the ds I think.

I've been flitting between Dragon Age: Awakenings and Space Marine and I want a singleplayer RPG set in the Warhammer universe. Madness!

Although I'd be happy to move away from Orks as enemies, as many books do.

I think a Warhammer 40k game where you play as a cultist hiding from the Inquisition and doing Chaos-cult-things would be awesome.
