I decided to get my game in early, and Iowa beats Purdue 45-7. Purdue scored its lone TD late in the 4th on a 90 yard pass play...ugh.
Still, the game was all Iowa. My offense started out roughly; I guess I'm out of practice. However, the defense had already grabbed 3 INTs by the end of the 1st quarter. (There was so much action in the first that I mistook the end of the quarter for the end of the half and threw a 4th down Hail Mary...only to turn the ball over on my own 40 rather than go into the half! D'OH!)
Overall the Iowa defense was stifling, grabbing 5 INTs and sacking Purdue's QB 8 times. With those sacks, Purdue only managed 6 yards rushing.
My QB threw for >350 yards and 5 TDs. Not bad...
Recruiting done!
Four games left to be played...
Let's roll this thing!
Iowa beats Michigan (suck it Leroy) 37-12 in a game that was close deep into the 3rd quarter.
Iowa threw 3 first half INTs, but their defense grabbed 2 of their own in the second half. Iowa's defense held Michigan to 1-8 third down conversions while their offense managed 12-17. Michigan had 194 yards of total offense versus 449 for Iowa. Iowa won the time of possession battle by a factor of 2! (21 minutes to 11 minutes.)
On the other hand, I burned the redshirt of a freshman running back because I was down to a third string HB, and his backup was a safety. The freshman was the leading rusher for the team!
it was a hell of a game last week for NC...Deep in the 4th quarter and down by 6 thanks to multiple turnovers and Fla running an amazing ground game. Managed to run a no huddle down the field and scored the go ahead run. It was a crazy game. I wish I could remember more details about it...but I cant. It was a blur of 60 minutes. Also...burned my redshirt on my QB...lost my starter to a sprain and the normal backup was injured during my simmed week against the Vols. Oh well.
Zell,
When Kush rolls it is me against you. I am available after 10pm any night nowadays. Let me know when you are available to play!
shag
Wow. I almost got Manziel'd.
Iowa needs OT to beat Texas A&M 42-35. But they did win, finishing the season 11-1.
The first two drives made it seem like the game would be easy, but TAMU scored 28 unanswered points to take the half 28-10. Iowa didn't convert a 3rd down until late in the third quarter. And m QB (me) kept throwing to the other team...well, twice. Manziel was sacked 19 times, but he had some big runs so he only finished down -14 yards in rushing. He threw 4 TDs and 2 INTs.
The turning point came early in the 4th when my CB grabbed an INT for a quick 6 points. In OT Iowa ran the ball all but the first play, scoring a TD. TAMU gave up about 3 sacks in a row to seal the win for Iowa.
You'll see one replay that shows the Manziel magic that's evidently coded into the game now...their TE grabbed a short throw and ran for about 80 yards with Iowa defenders grabbing air the whole way.
By the way, the game tying TD I threw was definitely...questionable. They should have challenged.

That should work.
I'm sure you've just jinxed us.

That the world will end or that they won't play tonight? 8-)
Well, if the world ends early enough, I'm assuming the game won't happen...
We played and I got amoked. My DBS were no match for his receivers. NC 31 GTech 10.
Personally, This was the best night of football I have had in years. I played Kush, firesloth and Zell. If I saw Jayhawker online I would of asked him for a game. I think we should be able to roll in the morning!
My Recruiting is done and everyone was readied up when I logged off. That was a good game shag...I couldnt stop your Tebow/RGIII/Wilson/Vick thing...Perfect coverage on everyone...then BAM...scramble for a 15-20 yard gain...and to be honest, I thought you had me beat halfway through the second quarter when my starting QB, starting HB+KR, slot WR, and second string QB all went down with game ending injuries...thats why I started playing conservative. I thought...if my princesses keep dropping like this, I wont be able to field a team by the 4th quarter. Had to use a red shirted QB to get someone out there that could have a slight chance of tossing the ball. I thought...I have a 11 point lead...just nurse it as best you can...didnt honestly think I would score another point. Anyway, it did turn out to be a fun game. Glad we got to play...even happier that it let us complete the game on the first try.
WooHoo! Doing my recruiting now...I only have 1 scholarship left to give. And only about 4 guys on the board.
And, done. I won't show up as green, but I'm ready to roll.
EDIT: Cool, I get Notre Dame in the Big10 championship game!
Also, not cool: at 11-1 I'm rated below Michigan St. (10-2, who I beat handily) in the coaches' poll and behind Oklahoma (9-2), South Carolina (9-3!!), and USC (10-2).
South Carolina is the 4th team in the SEC East behind Georgia, Tennessee, and Zell's North Carolina. How are they so highly rated?
Man, I can't believe I lost to Louisville, who ended up 6-6.
Some of my players had pretty good years. Mycah Hyde (CB) had 6 INTs, but he also returned punts, averaging ~12 yards a return with 3 punt return TDs on the season! My DT Steve Bigach (which I always read as Bigass) had 19 sacks. The crazy thing is, I spent the whole season controlling a LB or occasionally a safety (which is why MLB James Morris ended up with 79 tackles). So, they must be coverage sacks...
