Far Cry 3

I'm also pretty sure that injections don't magically create the liters of blood lost after being shot, but here we are. Call it a 'focus' button and ignore the audio-cue.

EDIT: I'm watching as many videos of this as I can to stave off the unhealthy urge to buy this pre-sale. This seems like it would scratch a major itch for me at the moment, but there are too many games on the pile.

There's a button to hold your breath? I'd avoid that one. Holding your breath actually hurts accuracy Nice video though.

That's kinda how all video games ever have done sniping for ages as far as i can remember....i'm shocked you're surprised. And GL sniping long range without it:P

What?

Spoiler:

You can't drink a magic potion, kill a big ass demon from hell, and then wake up to having sex with a warrior princess with her tits and face painted with blood??? I'm bummed. Yes, there's a reason that's in spoiler tags....you looked.

It's just an encouragement to upgrade your weapons to the new ones that pop up for the second half of the game and to take that one perk. But yeah, the transition when you first encounter them is rough. C4 and run behind a corner always works in a pinch.

Part of their head is exposed from the rear. You can generally sneak up behind them and blow the top of their head off.

That's what heavy take downs are for....or .50 cal sniper rifles. Either is a 1 hit kill. Playing on hard and they posing no problems. I kinda wish they were even tougher but that'd be just unrealistic in the extreme i guess.

When I first got to the heavies, I was stumped too. Then I picked up one of the LMGs that they drop, and now I'm a happy man. Unrealistic note: the recoil on LMGS is nonexistent.

Found an interesting bug just now: I was sniping a checkpoint from the top of a steep ridge. I'd just sniped the fourth of six baddies when I decided to move to uncover the last two guys when I made a mistake, hit a slippery spot and slid down the ridge to my death.

"Well, hell", I think. "Guess I'll have to be more careful next time."

Except the game had saved me in the air and so every time I would spawn in - zoom - I would fall to my death. I watched it 10 or so times until I was pretty sure it wasn't going to fix itself. I wish had has a screen capture app going; it was quite amusing to me.

I just hope my save isn't borked (I doubt it is but you never know).

I'm fond of the RPG for heavies.

The later ones get even heavier; a headshot from behind with the 50-cal sniper will kill one, but from the front, I guess their helmet is stronger. It can take 2 or 3 headshots to kill one that's facing you.

Generally after a restart you spawn in inside a safe house i believe.

Restart Quest?

If it's a non-Quest (outpost) you won't bd able to restart but you can fast travel while falling.

Non-quest. Wish I'd thought of fast-travel, although in terms of the game it is a wash. Fast travel would have reset the outpost since I hadn't cleared it.

I just thought it was funny.

Just means you get to do it again! Clearing the outposts are my favorite part of the game. Although now that I've stated encountering heavies my usual plan of stabbing guys is a little more difficult.

Mine too. Cleared out my first outpost just using a sniper rifle last night. My goodness - that was fun. "Reach out and touch someone"

Yup, and if you do it from far enough away and take out the alarm boxes first, you can still get the 1500 xp for it! AMR highly recommended.

Flamethrower. They don't like flamethrowers.

Yeah I really like spotting all the pirates, shutting down the alarm box (for when my plan inevitably goes wrong), and forming a plan to systematically take them all out.
I also really really like when I do all those things but then a tiger comes out of nowhere and kills half of them for me.

AMR? Does this open up later? I''ve only access to 3 sniper rifles at the moment and one is just a tricked out variant of one of the others.

Dear pirates who had a couple of leopards in a cage,

Thank you ever so much for having a couple of leopards in a cage. Much handier than me having to hunt them down for my first 2 leopard skins. Sorry about the arrows in your heads, but times are tough and we all need to make some sacrifices.

Thanks again,

It's the signature sniper rifle i believe. Signature weapons unlock to purchase with cash (cannot get them free) based on completion of x% of non story related stuff.

In my video a lil ways back i used the AMR for sniping that jeep from the tower. It's a souped up .50 cal that has the best accuracy damage and range of any gun in the game.

Here to go straight to viewing it at the right moment of the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...

I've never played an FPS that had a "do something to stabilize the gun even more when sniping" button. Either way, I just remarked on it because it surprised me. I'm itching to pick this up, but on top of all the other epic sandbox-style games I'm playing it's been hard to justify at full price.

Everything involving Buck really killed the pacing in this game for me. Super annoying. Then when that crap was over I finally got to start having fun again.

Ah got it. Even more reason to do the non-story missions. Better get on it...

I felt like the missions for him were okay but sort of boring and samey. I found the cutscenes a good/creepy mix of funny and dark.

You don't have to take out the alarm box. Just snipe from afar and as long as they don't spot you, no one will run for the alarm. You can take them all out one by one and get the full 1500 XP. I've cleared most of my outposts like that. Unless they have a tiger in a cage. In which case, I'll let the tiger do my job

Also, I've now shot a tiger with a rocket launcher. So that's a bear and a tiger done... next... the crocodile....

My biggest issue with them was that they took all the openness and fun out of it and started shuffling me down a bunch of linear corridors. Then on top of that I was getting bored with them so I started trying to rush, but of course there were long stretches with no checkpoints so one little mistake and a death meant losing a solid ten minutes (or in some cases more) of gameplay.

The last time it started to happen I died three or four times and lost a solid ten minutes each time. I just stopped for a second and decided if I didn't finish that part on that next try I was just going to quit. That usually ends up being a game's death knell for me. Once I stop after a moment like that I tend to just not go back. There's too many games to play and only so much time.

But of course after making my silent promise to myself I did squeak through that part and move on. Still though, I've been fairly disappointed in most of the story stuff from the Buck missions onward. The stuff with Citra, Vaas, all of it. Just annoying.

Of course then the game kind of rebounds with some other stuff later, but I'm not sure how long that can last.

I just reached the Buck stuff. Haven't started it but have the quest marker for some underwater temple.

After only meeting a few of the characters I've realized that all the hate for them is justified.

I ran a across a loot chest that might not actually exist. It's on the map but it's not on the surface and there doesn't seem to be any cave or tunnel to go under ground. The marker is one the surface too.

I've reached the second island, have played a game of poker

Spoiler:

and changed my shirt

. How far am I from finishing the game's story missions?

Check your handbook. That will tell you exactly how many missions you have left. But I would estimate 25% left.

Oh yes, good point Montalban. Thanks.

I unlocked my first signature weapon, but it still costs money to get it. Do signature weapons ever become free from liberating towers, or are they another money sink?
