iPhone Games Catch-All

It's so beautiful. Seriously, this is iOS 5 maps double-plus. Vector graphics, turn-by-turn navigation, the works.

Go go go!

Seems a little sluggish compared to iOS 6 maps, but I'm sure that'll iron out with time. Need to see how well the sync works with my Google account. Being able to load up an app on my PC and then access it later will be nice.

Personally I think we could have an iPhone/iPad thread and people could just put in their post which device they are playing on.

What they ^ said

The whole goolge vs apple maps apps controversy popping up again today drives me nuts cause i never liked either of them.

Ever since i found MotionX GPS Drive back when it was version 8 and then proceeded to give away my Garmin because i was already in love with it at that point i've never found another map app reasonably priced or otherwise to compete.

And the best part is, motionx keeps getting better and cheaper at the same time. I believe it's still a .99 cents buy with $10 a year sub fee for turn by turn voice guidance.

While not free, the functionality and reliability of it have proven excellent and invaluable for me.

There's a seperate reasonably priced seperate full featured GPS app (not driving oriented) which i use a lot: http://gps.motionx.com/iphone/overview/

O.O

What are you people waiting for?! It's amazing.

Did they discount the expansions as well?

But.. It's a Magic the Gathering-type game. We burned out on that in like, 1996, right? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, but isn't that the gist of it?

I was really hoping this heralded the release of the new expansion but that doesn't seem to be the case

It's closer to Dominion in the sense it's a deck building game, not a CCG. It is certainly influenced by M:tG which isn't a surprise since some (or all) of the design team were on the Pro circuit, I think.

It's neither an MTG game nor is that something that we burnt out on.

The closest it comes to MtG is probably the art style on the cards. For anyone not in on Dominion: Owning a copy of the game is owning all the cards (minus expansions) and you're building a deck from scratch each time you play as part of the gameplay, rather than building from your personal limited collection ahead of time and playing against other pre-constructed decks.

You should absolutely give Ascension a try. Its tutorial for teaching the game to new players is well above par, and probably the easiest way to learn this style of card game.

What the others said. And, it's free. FREE. Also, great.

Ha!

This game is AWESOME!

The Room Pocket

is out for iphone 4s/5 now. It's a bit short (I think...not done, but feels very close after maybe 2 hours?) but so amazingly full of Myst-y goodness. Try for free, unlock full for $2.

Middle Manager of Justice is finally out. For reals this time.

How is this a free game?! Am I missing some nefarious IAP scheme or are Double Fine just being amazingly generous?

Cool, bought the base game and one expansion. Just been sitting on my shelf so this will help me learn how to play.

There is, but it is mostly unnecessary. I went to bed early last night and fired this up to try it, and wound up staying awake for way too long. Brilliant.

Eufloria just went on sale for 99c. I have been keeping an eye on this for awhile and it looks great! Orig $2.99

For people looking for games for their kids (maybe girls more than boys), Toca Boca just released Toca Hair Salon 2. Launch price is only $.99. All the stuff Toca Boca does is really really good. They are less objective based more just interactive toys. Probably best for kids between 4-7.

I beat the real final boss on Knights of Pen and Paper RPG today!

My guys were above level 40, and all had 4x The Four Ring. Lots of grinding to get it, but it was fun. Reminded me of grinding in FF5 back in the day.

Where were you grinding? I started to run into diminishing returns as far as cash rewards went, and got discouraged about ever getting enough for the necessary gear.

Maybe check for updates? I got an update to this game the other day that way increased the amount of gold drops. It might be Android only though, since there is no IAP in that version.

Eufloria is a wonderful game and a steal at 99 cents. I've always found it very zen-like, even though it's not really. The controls have been well adapted from the pc.

Zen-like games are so hard to get right. They have to evoke a certain aesthetic based on their theme, and have simple but satisfying gameplay that ties in with the theme. I could never get into Eufloria because I felt its gameplay and theme are too simple. To be fair, that kind of macro-managment game has never felt great to me, and the visuals are nice. I see why people like it, it just doesn't vibe with me.

My final build was 19 x 4Rings, 1 Harpy tooth (on the rogue), and fifteen total potions, which totals something like 31,950. Plus about 5,000 total for maxing out the equipment. I dropped cash for 10,000 coins right off the bat, which got me a couple rings to speed up the farming. From there I made sure all my tables and dungeon master and furniture and stuff was all set to the +gold pieces. Then I fought groups of seven Missingnos in Wizards of the East Coast village. They net about 128 gold per fight. Once the diminishing returns started hitting it started to drop, but I never got lower than 93 gold per fight. by then I was around lvl 42 and maxed out on items, so I was good to go.

Important to know: the skill guy at the sunset castle can be used to respec your guys. These were my MVPs:

PALADIN: Pump up his shield, his passive, and his self-heal and you'll be set. His threat will be high enough that he will get attacked almost every time by everything except the AoE naturally. He does nothing but heal himself, but he frees up your other guys for attacking.
ROGUE: Max vanish and double strike, with the remaining points in the passive damage. After a turn one vanish he was dishing out 2x217 damage crits each turn.
WIZARD: After getting 4x4Rings there is no need to have any points in the mana passive, and for some reason his skills don't diminish after lvl 10 and lvl 15 like the other classes. 30+ points in fireball means he's smacking the boss for 200 damage a shot plus 100 more burn damage on each of the enemy's turns.

I'd recommend a Cleric for one of the two slots, although potions are way more effective than the heals he has...even at lvl 15 his group heal is a meager 50 hp per party member. The fifth slot is completely up to you. I had a barbarian, but knight, warrior, or druid seem fine too. Didn't really play around with the other ones much.

Middle Manager of Justice is sooooo Addictive!

Man.. I played 3 hours straight.. :S I went from 100% charge to 20% in that time. The warning was the only thing that prevent me from continuing playing :S

I did pay the 1.99 for the double cash, it was worth it for a free game.

I think it was mostly bug fixes. Which was smart, I found a bug where I could keep getting rewarded for finishing a to do list item over and over again.

I too have been enjoying MMOJ. The coin doubler ($1.99) is a must-purchase in my opinion. Besides, don't you want to give money to Double Fine?

The incomparable Fruit Ninja is free, today only. First time ever.
