Persona 4 Golden Catch-All

Uh wait, do you mean:

Spoiler:

You have 25 social links at 5/30, or that you are level 25? I'm guessing the 2nd, because I know that you can't possibly have 2 of the links I have at 5/30.

Not to mention there are only 20 major arcana in a deck, so you are limited to 20 links. Although I think P4G added 1 or two extras, one of which is Aeon (like P3:FES). Still not 25.

There are only 2 new links (Aeon and Jester).

I'm tempted to swap my team around to their joke outfits, because they all have joke weapons right now. Yu is brandishing a Sharp Shovel, Yosuke has a pair of bones, Yukiko has a ceramic plate, and Kanji has a tatami mat.

Ah, I just added all of my S.L. ranks. I'm amazed that you have stuff maxed out already. I don't have any links close to maxed.

I don't have any maxed either, closest is 8/10. Some of my links are still low due to skill requirements too, for a long time both my Expression and Understanding were too low to progress a couple links past where they were. This was when I started doing the part-time jobs, that helped a lot.

Gotcha.

Wow this thread is moving. I haven't had much time with this game yet. I'm really liking the 'new' Chie VO. She seems to fit with the character well.

I'm finally on Floor 8 of the 4th zone. Beating the mini-boss was rough, but having 2 characters with Media helped a lot. My party is now sitting around level 26, I figure I ought to be able to finish this zone and return to social links this weekend.

Yukiko's action for waking somebody up from Dizzy is the 2nd best thing in this game after Chie's assist attack.

I just saw Chie's assist

Spoiler:

where she slaps you out of panic,

that along with her

Spoiler:

punt

and her personality has made her my favorite character so far. But I've only just met Rise.

I just reached the final floor of the 4th area:

Spoiler:

Marukyu Striptease, Rise's zone

and tested out the boss. I lost, as I expected, but I think a few more levels will get me what I need to win. Too bad the enemies on those high floors are proving to have few, if any, weaknesses. I really don't like facing enemies with no weaknesses, it sucks.

Generally they have a weakness. Sometimes it's just weakness to Hama or Mudo skills though, which you might not have available and are expensive regardless.

Nope, tested those too, via Cursed Papers and my various Mamudo/Mahama skills (I have multiple personae with them). Absolutely no weaknesses, and I was just as surprised, because I never encountered that in P3P.

I hate enemies that have any resistance to physical attacks. Simply because I hate having to use SP to kill an enemy when a regular attack would do they job, were it not for resistance.

Aww yeah, 3rd time's the charm. I just beat...

Spoiler:

Shadow Teddie

and rescued the latest victim. The battle was tense for a bit, I had to use almost all of my Magic Mirrors, and even a Purifying Salt since I couldn't spare my MC to cast Dekunda to clear negative stats, but I came out victorious. Not my favorite zone/boss of the game, but definitely in the top 3 so far. I'm really looking forward to the next section, this is what I've been waiting for.

I'm torn - I feel like the new actress pulls off some of her lines more naturally, but it feels like cheating on the real Chie somehow.

Your search is over.

But I've only just met Rise.

Personally her performance made me cringe, and I started skipping most of her dialogue, especially when she's excited in any way. Worst part of the game for me, but it hasn't ruined anything overall.

I like Chie, no problems with her voice. I didn't play P4 on PS2, but even then I doubt it would change my opinion. I survived Bubblegum Crisis dubbed in English, there's very little voice acting that can upset me at this point.

I'M SO SORRY.

I've already

Spoiler:

saved Kanji

. This game has been moving and going. Even if you've beaten P4 on the PS2, there is a ton of new stuff to do. The SOS function is kind of funky. You really can't spam it for health. The "voice" button is a great addition.

I reached Resi's boss. Oh man.

Spoiler:

Teddie is ridiculous. Any pointers?

DS - Here was my approach for taking down that boss, and remember I'm playing on Very Hard so my strategy may be overly cautious if you're playing on Hard or Normal:

Spoiler:

At all costs do not let him get a 1 More action. His main elemental attack is Mabufula (he has an AoE fire-like attack but it doesn't actually do Fire damage), so protecting against Ice weakness is critical. To this end I went in with Hua Po with White Wall, and I made sure to keep White Wall up at all times. Early on in the fight he'll telegraph Mabufula with a Mind Charge before-hand, but later on he stops telegraphing it (this got me killed once). The rest of my team was Yosuke, Kanji, and oddly enough, Yukiko. Yukiko's powerful healing is extremely useful, just make sure she guards whenever you sense a Mabufula coming in. Yosuke with Diarama was also helpful. My MVP for the fight, aside from the MC with White Wall, was Kanji. Kill Rush can hit up to 3 times, and Kanji has Regenerate 1 so he always has the HP to cast it. Since Shadow Teddie is not weak to anything, beating on him with Kill Rush netted me tons of damage at very low risk, leaving my other members free to focus on keeping up health and resistances.

Otherwise you'll want to have Dekunda to remove his Defense Down ability. That's about it.

I beat that boss at level 29 to give you an idea of what you'll need to get those abilities and/or personae.

I'm between level 26 - 29 in my party. I think I have only 1 day left, though, so I was hoping I didn't have to grind the other dungeons first. Sounds like I might be able to avoid that. Thanks. I'll take a look at that tonight. Did someone ever do a strategy guide for this? I looked online and all I see is an old guide by Double Jump that's really expensive.

Your levels should be fine, if you'd need to farm for anything it would be skill cards or persona card to get just the right setup. I've yet to go back to an earlier dungeon, and I finish every dungeon in a single visit, so there's no need for you to go back out then come back in, everything you need you can get from the dungeon you're in.

Spoiler:

White Wall came to me from a skill card, and I put it on Hua Po because she has only one weakness (Ice, duh), and is Null Fire (at the time I thought Shadow Teddie's second AoE attack was Fire). Hua Po can be fused from a bunch of cards you can get easily in Marukyu Striptease. Lamia is fused from Eligor & Matador, and Matador gets Dekunda as an innate ability, so that's an easy way to get yourself that useful ability. Also Matador is one of the specific fusions Margaret wants to see, so you can knock that out on your way to getting Lamia.

A quick and easy way to get cards, extra XP, and restore your HP/SP is to start at the highest floor and work your way back to Floor 1. You'll retain the ability to warp back to the top floor, you can stock up on whatever you need on the way down, and the lower floors will be so easy that if you use the SOS system, or just equip a Persona with Invigorate, you'll have full SP by the time you get to Floor 1. This is usually the last thing I do before making a real attempt to defeat any boss.

Actually that fight turned out easier than I thought. It absolutely came down to using guard more. I didn't grind dungeons a moment more. I just went back in and conducted the fight with more liberal use of guard and healing and grinded it out.

Sweet, 2 more social links started, Moon and Devil. I'm pretty sure I'm about to start another one too, so I'm pretty close to having them all going. Now I just need to boost my Understanding and Expression so I can progress some of the older ones.

I was on the road most of today, so I had plenty of Vita time. Man, I forgot how addicting this game can be. I stopped playing after the first dungeon, but now that I've started again there's a new victim, so I'm re-invested in the story.

Teddie just

Spoiler:

grew a body.

I no longer like him.

Why not? He still makes un'bear'able puns.

I laughed out loud at that whole sequence, one of my favorite bits of the game so far.

Finally got the Hanged Man link, now the only one I'm missing is Death, I think.

It just seemed like "too much". Yeah I know, the game is obviously grounded in reality. Plus, it was okay to find a bear unbearably cute, I can't find a teenage

dreamy boat

unbearably cute, no matter how dreamy.
