Self indulgent parent thread

Hey! Been thinking about you through all of this. I should have gotten in touch sooner, although we were out of power longer than you. Glad to hear (and see) all is well. Congrats on the new one! Hope too see you after your sanity returns and playing some games becomes something possible.

Such an awesome thread!! I will share since it's not just about your newborns, although seeing everyone's babies makes me miss those days...sometimes. My oldest daughter was recently married. Her husband is in the Air Force and if you play BF3 you may know him as MrMcWilson. The second picture is my son, Motoxan from BF3 also, and my daughter dancing.

Best wishes to the father of the bride!

I had to go for some emergency shopping today with the baby. It took longer than expected, about 3 and a half hours, and by the end she was very tired and hungry. But not a peep out of her - she was smiling and chatting at people right until the end. I think I complained more than she did. She's such a little trooper!

What a past few weeks...

All I know is that my tax return this year is going to buy a generator and a gas fireplace so that should disaster strike (last year we got hit by Hurricane Irene and lost power for 5 days, this year it was Hurricane Sandy), I'll have lights, heat, and hot water.

After Hurricane Irene hit last year, leaving us without power for 3 days with 7 month old twins, we decided we should buy a generator. I did research and picked a smaller one with great reviews that did not cost an arm and a leg. We got a 4K watt one, on amazon, delivered right to the door for just under $300....I figured even if we never used it, the peace of mind it gave me was enough. To know that if the power went out that we had the generator and a space heater that could keep us warm if it needed to, and run our refrigerator and what not. It could run several things at once and if we had it hooked up right even our furnace. We bought it in May, so before the crazy storm season. The only thing we failed to think ahead for was to get some 5 gallon gas containers (and was unable to find any in the surrounding 3 states during the storm)

Our power somehow did not go out, but we were prepared if it did. With kids, you have to be

I don't know why it cracks me up that he's so serious in pictures.

I may be biased, but my daughter is really freaking cute.

My son is transfixed by Tiny Wings. Whenever the bird makes a happy chirp he copies the chirp. It's adorable =)

Tristan Royal, born Sunday at 2:52pm.

His mom isn't doing so hot, but she'll pull through and hopefully be discharged in the next day or two. Tristan himself is doing alright too. He's kind of amazing.

Groan your avatar has exactly the same expression has EriktheRed's daughter, and it's kinda creeping me out--the avatar not the baby, who is rather adorable.

Ooo, nice idea!

We've been debating something like this:

Other than ours is in pretty much full-on hand-eating mode, so her not being able to reach her mouth might not work so well.

Our little guy at 15 months now demands a bath every night by going to the bathroom door and banging on it and then coming to grab our hand to try to drag us to the bathroom door. We only close the door so he doesn't go in there and start throwing the toys in the tub.

Yeah they do this in China all over the place. When I stop to think about it, yeah it's safe--it makes it pretty much impossible to get their heads under the water. But it just looks all kinds of wrong.

His lip tastes salty.

His shirt has a tag on it.

The car seat is weird.

Katy, that list is hilarious!

Since my wife will never come onto this forum I am safe to write about what happened last night.

My daughter is a light sleeper.

Last night my wife farted and it woke my daughter up. My wife woke up after my daughter was woken up and could not understanding my uncontrollable laughter. When she finally understood she and I had a good laugh for about 15 minutes until my daughter was fed and went back to bed.
