iPad Games (and Apps) Catch All

So here's a question - I'm trying to pick up Cadwallon: City of Thieves (a FFG Boardgame) on iPad. It's pass and play only, but it's only 99 cents so I figure it's worth a shot - I often look at these games as demos to see if I'd like the boardgame, and like to support all board game conversions anyways. However, itunes is telling me its not available in the Canadian store, which is weird for a board game conversion (normally it's only stuff like Pandora that uses licensed content that is not available in Canada). I'm wondering if it was pulled altogether. Can a friendly US person check to see if this page opens up for you in iTunes (you don't have to click buy, just see if the page loads).
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cadw...

Link is dead. They must have pulled the app.

Final Fantasy III for iPad is on sale at "over 40% off" until December 14th to celebrate the release of FFIV on that date.

Actually, all their Final Fantasy iOS RPGs are on sale until then, and some more stuff afterward.

Wake me when they have IV and VI up. I've already played the crap out of II, III, & V on GBA / DS.

Other App news: Wonderputt is free today, so I just picked it up.

IV DS for iOS is out on the 14th

I now very much need to upgrade my iPad. iOS6 won't load on my first generation, so I don't think Baldur's Gate will work for me :(

Then you're lucky. I'm not sure if this has ever come up, but iOS 6 has done horrors to my device. I have no issue with the maps app or any of that stuff, but my iPad, and for a while my girlfriend's iPhone, would constantly think it was being docked and undocked, thus constantly pausing my music. I have trouble listening to anything without constant interruption. Sometimes I can fix this by charging my iPad so that it is for sure docked, but this doesn't always work. The other issue is that I cannot ever turn my iPad off because docking turns it on. My girlfriend and I only started having this issue since iOS 6, although this is apparently an old issue Apple has never gotten around to fixing. Sometimes it just stops, like it has for my girlfriend.

Completely off-topic, but soo soo frustrating when I paid $800 for a device and the music playing feature I love is useless.

Both my iPad 3 and iPhone 5 are running 6.0, and I have had any problem with music. I listen for about 5 hours a day on average.

I looked on Apple's forums, and found this suggestion:

Settings > Sounds > Next to "Vibrate on Ring", slide off, then on again > Repeat for one below which says "Vibrate on Silent" > Repeat again next to the volume slide bar which says "Change with Buttons".

Several posters said that it worked for them; obviously, I can't verify it.

Unfortunately the iPad doesn't have that feature, only iPhones.

I disabled the wifi syncing to avoid problems like this. Have you tried disabling that?

I never set up wifi syncing so I can't disable it.

Oh well, I'm going to see if I can contact Apple about it.

Unfortunately Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions doesn't seem to be discounted. Too bad, as that's my favourite Final Fantasy.
Wonderputt looks amazing though. I've always loved goofy mini golf games.

I was hoping that FF tactics would be on sale too. Alas, no.

Change With Buttons is there. Try toggling that one off and on.

This weekend I finished Cafeteria Nipponica, a Kairosoft game (their best known is Game Dev Story). This was a really fun and cute game and I would recommend it as a light sim. There's a lot of fun touches, like being able to search for new furniture for your restaurants and improving your dishes with various exotic ingredients.

Just upgraded from my first gen Ipad to my new 64-gig Ipad 4th generation. What a difference! So what is the "must have" game that really shows this thing off? Infinity Blade? I wouldn't have thought of that with my old one. What am I missing?

The Curse is free as of today. It looks like the only inApps are hints, so if you like puzzles, it may interest you. I've only done the first few and so far they are easy, but that is to be expected

Lili was used at the latest keynote event to show off the power of the pad. It was also recently on special, not sure if it still is as my iPad now just says 'open' when I view it in store.

Infinity Blade always looks good, as do some of the recent racers. There used to be a sub category in the App Store for 'pretty games', not sure if it's still there or not.

EDIT:
From the featured section of the App Store.
Scroll down and click on the big blue gradient "GAMES" tile.
Within that, scroll down, and click the "Benchmark Games" section.

Grouped by titles like Innovative Gameplay, Intuitive Controls, Stunning Graphics, Quick Fixes...

Hope that steers you in the right direction

Warlords Classic HD is free today. It's a port of the old classic "Warlords." If you know what I'm talking about, it may be worth it to download it ASAP.

I'd like to pass on a recommendation to skip the flashy games. They may be cool demos but generally I doubt many folks get their money's worth. Find a FUN game instead. There's so many options depending on what sort of game you're in to. I'll throw a few random suggestions

Strategy: Hero's Academy
Action: Spell Sword
Casual: Fairway Solitaire
Board Game: Le Havre
Retro Game: Infinity Gene (Space Invaders)
Flash Conversion: Infectonator
PC Conversion: Osmos
Megalomania: Plague INC
Short Lived Awesomeness: 10000000

Picked this one up and it is awesome! I love a good puzzle game from time to time and this one looks to be a winner. Thanks!

Got several of these. I already knew about Fairway Solitaire, but picked up Plague (what a sick game!) and Hero Academy so hopefully those will be fun. Thanks!

All the reviewers say Infinity Blade 2 is way better than 1 in almost every respect. I'm sure it's great--not my thing--but I recommend Dead Space.

Lost Cities is now half price, $2 instead of $4. It's a card-based game by Reiner Knizia, and I hear the iOS version is pretty good. Some folks on BGG refer to the iOS version as the game-in-bed-with-the-spouse-before-bed game.

Majesty: Northern Expansion is out and on sale at .99 USD

Majesty is also on sale for .99 USD

It's a solid implementation of a classic board/card game, but the app continues to be "iPhone only." And no, despite what people say, running it on the iPad in 2x mode *is* annoying. Worth it... just wish they'd get off their butts and universalize this thing.

Speaking of board games - I've had Titan HD for ages, and though I don't play it nearly enough ( see my signature ) - now that it is async, if anyone wants to try a game, I'd be lost, but I'd love to play

I have it and have yet to play it. We should fix that soon.

Mmm...Titan HD is a good one. I'm game as well.

Ooh ooh, me too! I need an excuse to finally learn this.

So funny. A number of us on Broken Forum are having the exact same conversation. We should unite and create a cross-gamer's forum Titan league!

I wanted to try out Lost Cities this afternoon and just learn how to play the game. An hour to two later, I'm quite satisfied. The 2x magnification is not a big deal at all. It's not like they're going to make the game better by having higher-resolution cards or something.

Really? Then why make any iPad/universal software at all? "2x" is "good enough." Doesn't mean it can't be better. Look at Carcassonne. Or TICKET TO RIDE iPad vs. iPhone.

A universal/iPad version could allow for landscape mode, could take advantage of the higher resolution to make a more spacious gameplay area, or many other things. The core issue for me is that it would LOOK better. As I said, Coding Monkey's other game CARCASSONNE does this. Not sure why this one doesn't or can't.

Cacassonne didn't at first either, but they released a free universal update later on. That game has been on the top of many iOS game lists, and I bet it made more money than Lost Cities. If they could get the same kind of attention, I'd wager they'd do the same thing.
