Random thing you loathe right now.

Having stuff stolen can really hurt, particularly when it's something you value. I once had a really expensive mountain bike stolen - I used the thing just about every day and there was no way I could afford to replace it. I was gutted. I know how you feel, and believe me, you are entitled to feel that way.

Also, you may be right that other people have it worse, but this thread is about all loathes, great or small (or in between!). So burglars can go suck it.

Also, AP Erebus, I'm really to sorry to hear that. Very few things hurt as much as a breakup, especially if you were really into her. As you know, it will get better - but that's scant comfort right now.

*hugs* to both of you.

Eleima:

That sucks a lot! I had a rather expensive electronic gadget stolen recently, so burglars and thieves definitely are on my "You suck!" list. Perfectly okay to vent a lot. It doubly sucks 'cause they won't value the things beyond their fencing value. Asses.

Don't indulge too much, though. They already got your stuff; it'd be worse if they get you into a funk on top of all that. These thieves are not worth that much!

I set aside half an hour to make a Beef Teriyaki stir-fry.

I was going to make a delicious sauce from scratch, lightly sear the beef, then lightly sear the veggies. I had recipies on my iPhone.

It was going to be awesome.

Then, with all the grace of a flagging hippopotamus, I chose the worst possible sauce recipe (which I dumped down the sink in disgust), steamed the vegetables (they were supposed to be crunchy), and dried the meat out in the process.

I am now sitting in front my my computer, a full hour later, with a bowl of limp veggies, store-brand teriyaki sauce, dry meat, and rice.

I am a Sad Monkey.

Burglars. I really hate burglars right now.

Someone stole my bike when I was in Grade 9. I was 13 or 14 years old. The burglar cut right through the flimsy chain and clear plastic moulding, and took away my sole means of independent transportation. Haven't had a bicycle since.

I still have the lock. The key is on my keyring.

Burglars who don't steal from dragons can go take a long walk on a short pier. When my mom was in the hospital while I was in Boise, people broke in and stole most of her electronics, the majority of the tools she had and so on. All of that stuff was replaceable (And insurance got it replaced), so it was really pretty minor, and it *still* sucked.

Thank you so much for the empathy, guys! *hugs* Yeah, like Larry said, it sucks because they don't see anything beyond the fencing value. I hope they choke on all the junk they have to shift through before they get to the "good stuff". ^_^

To add insult to injury, I woke up this morning with flu-like symptoms. At least, I hope it's the flu and not dengue or chikungunya... Joy. ^_^

Ok, I'm done complaining now, promise!

How do you feel about "moist"? ;)

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Yep, that still sums up my feelings on the word "moist" too.

Just typing that word makes me want to clean myself with gasoline and a match.

This is the loathe thread, this is what it's here for.
I agree that it sucks, though. People broke into our house my senior year of high school, and a lot of stuff was stolen. My bedroom got hit the hardest (I assume since it was the closest to the door) and anything worth more than $5 that could be easily carried out was gone. Idiots even stole a $15 color changing light I had on my bedside table. It sucked, but the only thing I was really upset about was jewelry I was given from my great grandmothers, who both had passed. Insurance can't replace that. =/

I don't feel the hate. I love moist stuff, in general.

Don't hate the cake, hate the word

Oh gosh, that's just heartbreaking!!! I'm so sorry to hear that, you must've been devastated. *hug*
And thanks, I know this is the place for venting, but I always try to bear in mind that some people are much worse off than I am.

Myself. Specifically whatever it is in my brain that decides that something is too much of a bother to try and finish. Every time I take on a personal project, I hit a wall that just says, "You know, you don't have to do this. Why are you struggling with it?" The rest of me just says, "You know what? You're right." There are unfinished models, short stories, novels, electronics, video games, a veritable graveyard of personal endeavors that never went anywhere in my wake. Why can't I finish anything?

Is there a club? There should be a club.

We should start a club.

Sounds like a lot of work.

Oops. Wanted to reply to this but forgot and fell asleep. And even then I woke up and felt like crap.

Saying "This is the last time I'm going to overeat" and then do it again. It always makes me feel like crap so not sure why I keep doing it. On top of that I lost an entire night of gaming because I was so tired and uncomfortable I passed out on the couch.

Teeth and that my health insurance has such stringent dental coverage. Teeth are great tools and all but boy does it get expensive when things go wrong with them and it seems even taking good care of them does not fully insure against things going wrong.

'Loathe' is perhaps too strong of a term, but I really dislike the stress that was added to the next few days by someone else's incompetence.

Briefly, the way the Navy works is that I'm doing a one-year internship and then will spend the next 2-3 years out with the fleet before doing a military or civilian residency to become board-certified. Where I'm going after this year is sort of a crucial question, and one of the major reasons I decided to join the Navy was to do Flight Surgery (basically, a doctor attached to a squadron to take care of their health needs). To make a long story short, what should have been a routine physical exam submitted as part of my application packet turned into a nightmare as the physician responsible for it lost my medical records, and then procrastinated for over a month and a half, taking me right up to the hard deadline for submission of a complete packet. He's an O-6 "full-bird" Captain and I'm a lowly O-3 Lieutenant, and I ended up having to bring in the big guns (two other O-6 Captains, one of whom runs NAMI and the other of whom runs the entire flight program for the Navy) to get him to get off his ass. Those of you who have served know exactly how much fire I was playing with there.

So I find out on the 12th whether my application was even submitted appropriately, which I have my suspicions was not the case. If it wasn't, I'm basically f*cked for Flight Surgery. My back-up requests are for a shipboard assignment either on the west coast or overseas, but I have a suspicion I'm going to end up with the Marines at 29 Palms or something like that.

Maybe it'll work out, but I hate that what would otherwise be a sure thing is now a ball of stress in my stomach.

Poorly-written code.

Amazon has a feature called "whispersync" for Kindles, it will automatically sync any Kindle device to the latest page of a book you're reading. Since they've bought Audible.com, they now support doing the same thing with audiobooks.

Sweet!

So, I went to Audible.com, logged on with my Amazon account, and bought the audio version of the book I'm reading. I downloaded it to the Audible app on my iPhone, and it refused to sync. Tried logging in and out of both sides, unregistering and reregistering my kindle device, manually mashing the "sync!" buttons in either side, and got nothing.

Turns out even though they're the same books, with the same bits, bought by the same Amazon account, if you don't buy the audiobook by going to the Kindle store version of the book and then clicking "Buy on Audible,", it doesn't actually enable whispersync for the audiobook. Mind you, when click the buy button from Amazon, it actually takes you over to the Audible store, it's not like it's somehow a different cart system or something from what I used already at Audible.

*sigh*

There is no reason for it to not work. They know my account on both sides, they know what I've bought, the only thing missing is associating the books together for whispersync.

Thankfully, the Audible support guy I talked to who told me about this refunded me the book so I could buy it again through Amazon, but... that's just stupid.
