Video Game Deals Catch-All

Yeah, seriously, at $10 I felt like I got a ton of game.

It doesn't like Canadians, and the Canadian site never gets deals like these.

Is the card itself American, though? I think, like with MS points cards from the US, it wouldn't be redeemable on a Canadian Xbox Live profile.

I would love to be mistaken about that though.

Did some quick research online and it would seem people are saying that points cards are region locked and gold memberships are region free.

Why not buy your year of Liveon CrazyGameTime?

It's 44$ at the moment but often goes on sale for 40$

I really don't like that I have to verify my identity by phone with this site. Though it seems to confirm that gold memberships are region free.

How is Splinter Cell: Conviction? Lots of the achievements look MP-based, but is it a decent SP experience?

Well how do you like that. Thankfully I've averaged $36/year just from free months and lesser sales—but now I'll be paying a lot more attention to this thread closer to June.

I really enjoyed Conviction. It's not one of those stealth games where being seen is failure; you can shoot it out, then run away and hide. Loved the Mark and Execute mechanic where killing someone with a melee attack gives you "free executions", where you can just mark someone for auto-kill and drop them. Makes you get in close.

The story is hackneyed, the voice acting is silly, and it's nothing incredibly innovative, but I thought it was a really fun game, and I've never liked Splinter Cell much at all.

Aside from a few uneven sections Conviction is my 2nd favorite SC game behind Pandora Tomorrow.

It's more action based and heavily influenced by "24" and the Bourne movies but I like the heavier reliance on gunplay as I think it creates a more balanced experience and moved the series in a different direction.

I don't think there is much replay value in the game but it held my interest enough to play through it over the course of a weekend.

I had a lot of fun with it. I'm not sure how you are about needing a challenge, but on the normal difficulty setting (I always play on Normal, unless it's something like Halo) it's not very difficult. The mark and execute mechanic kind-of makes it a little easier than it would be otherwise. BUT, you do feel like a stealth badass. I didn't spend too much time in MP, and I still think I got my money's worth out of the single player experience. Also, the interrogations are a little bit of a gimmick but I found them brutal and fun.

US Gold cards work fine in Canada. I use them all the time.

- Lots of XBLA games half price (Beyond Good and Evil, Rayman 3D, Outland)

Outland is a steal at that price. Fan-freakin'-tastic game.

Anyone care to enable me on Scott Pilgrim for $5?

Appreciation for the source material and/or Anamanaguchi's tunes helps freshen an otherwise well-worn design, and ultimately it seemed on par with its predecessors. Which is to say, somewhat dull (and difficult) after the first couple of hours by yourself, but has more to offer if you have at least one more player for local coop.

Hmm...I'm not connected to the cannon, but the retro gameplay and art design is a big turn on. Yet the difficulty (which I remember hearing about) is a bit of a turn off as I'd likely be going at it solo.

Solo'd it, it's not bad. It's fun, if you like the art style and retro theme (love both myself). Not a fan of big difficulty spies, did mostly fine

Good thing! That could be risky!

US Gold's back in business?!

The Scott Pilgrim game is decent and a solid nod to the source material, but if you're just looking for an arcade brawler I think Castle Crashers is a much larger and deeper game.

Demo Scott Pilgrim. I found I wasn't interested in a brawler anymore.

Thanks, guys.

Tried the demo and loved the presentation, but the gameplay felt slow and stale. I'm sure it would quicken after I leveled my guy up, but I'm not in a grindy mood atm.

Secret World is currently $7.50 at GMG. Worth it at this point?

I wonder how long until it's F2P?

FTL is $6 on Steam right now... man. You win, you filthy enablers.

I really need to take my credit card info off of my steam account. Too easy to click twice and buy a game.

Spoiler:

I'm not taking it off.

Let's just be thankful Steam hasn't taken Amazon's trick of 1-click shopping.

That game has been on my wishlist for months. Not sure why I can't bring myself to get it. I think I'm worried I'd be bored by it. Is it actually fun? Or is it closer to work?

It's fun. There's no work.

There's terror but I don't think that qualifies.

If you buy it directly from the publisher, they'll give you a Steam key.

And every time you do that, an Indie gets their wings.

Yeah got FTL yesterday from the publisher. Installed on Steam. Fantastic.

Join us in the catch-all!

Did anyone take advantage of the PSN "Spend $60 and get a $10 voucher" over Thanksgiving. They said they'd sent out the codes today but I have not gotten mine. Has anyone else that did this gotten their $10 voucher code yet?

I found Scott Pilgrim to be slow. Really slow!

Beat the average for Saints Row the Third.

Edit: These are Steam codes, and the bundle includes soundtracks.

If you beat the minumum now, you get Titan Quest, and as well, the DLC for Red Faction.

I was just browsing the Xbox dashboard and discovered they are currently running a Ubisoft publisher sale! Lots of Ubi published content half price.

Highlights (for me, at least):
- The first 3 Assassin's Creed games are $10 each (Revelations is $20) - DLC is also half price
- Splinter Cell Conviction also $10
- Lots of XBLA games half price (Beyond Good and Evil, Rayman 3D, Outland)

According to Major Nelson's blog, sale goes through the 10th. I may have just found something to spend my Black Friday MS Points on!

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes is excellent and well worth the price. I played it on the DS and am still thinking about picking it up for that price. Also, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is solid, but you can probably find a copy for less than $15.

I thought I would throw this in the deals thread. Bioware is giving all the DLC for Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II for free. You just have to make sure you're registered on the Bioware Social page. If you have an Origin account these should be linked and will unlock for the games registered with Origin.
