Battlefield 3 Catch-All

I got a similar patch on 360 yesterday. I vaguely remember it being under 2GB (but I could be wrong.)

I'm gonna try Aftermath tonight.

Ditto, 1.9Gb it was. Hadn't played in a while so I wasn't sure if it was a general patch or for Aftermath specifically.

I think it was an entirely gen(Aftermath)eral patch.

Hmmmmm. Aftermath maps aren't there. Battlelog lied to me.

Tomorrow.

What I dont understand is all the Aftermath maps/servers I see online with people in them.

EIDT: Nvm, you actually click on them the servers aren't loaded with teh maps. which is weird cause when you search with only the AM maps selected you see the 'fake' servers.

I guess servers can preload the maplist in advance.

yes. They probably had the build available to them a day after the PS3 release. That's the way the ones in the past worked.

Dang.

Hmm. Does that mean Pikey might play a round of Gunmaster now?

I'm wondering if I'll even play The Walking Dead tomorrow or if it will only be an obscene amount of BF3.

Hmm, tomorrow eh... but that would mean taking a break from punching sharks in Far Cry 3... well, I suppose I should. The sharks can wait. People do need to die with an XBow and I really should help them out with that.

Seriously, how awesome is it being a gamer? Really damn awesome!

I found a server with terrible people once. I cleaned up and said 'I shall never play again so that this shall remain my last highlight for this god-forsaken game type'.

I dont know. As long as every gunmaster server ever drops the JNG and the AVG launcher thingy from rotation I'd maybe more cool with it.

DICE managed to f*ck up the launch of Aftermath. Big surprise right? Love the series, but the BF3 team is without a doubt one of the worst dev teams in existence. I've downloaded close to 7.5 GB worth of patches over the last 24 hours. No access to any content and apparently I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE f*ckING MAPS DOWNLOADED.

It's always f*cking something with these guys. Wish they'd hire someone that knew what the f*ck they were doing.

Edit: Lightning sorry my mic was muted in ESN SONAR.

lol love how DICE makes you sooooooo mad. >:D

Nice work DICE, really.

I want to know where these downloads are that people are talking about. I re started Origin last night and had an update for Origin and another for BF3. Nothing new available this morning.

No problem. I was just working on my first cup of coffee and was still half asleep. Moto woke me up at 5am so we could play Aftermath. I was bummed when we couldn't play, but then saw Pikey and you playing CQ. At least is was not a total wash. BEST SQUAD!! We will be on tonight, with or without Aftermath.

According to twitter, it's active. I can see US servers with people in them. But I can't join because it tells me I need to get the expansion.

So maybe it's just still rolling out to user accounts.

downloaded and playing now

Restarted steam, started downloading, hoping to be playing soon.

If only this was true. *sigh*

Talah Market is amazing.

I am just gonna have to try reallllly hard to find a 16/24 server running TDM/Conquest on it. SOoo good.

Of the maps I've played, I've liked them all. I played several rounds of scavenger, and I hope server admins keep this moving at this kind of paced rounds, without blowing the tickets or populations up to crazy numbers.

ugggggggh i just realized you DONT get to customize the scopes on the xbows. it's the reflex sight or the 7x scope.

BOOO.

Scavenger seems pretty fun, certainly levels the playing field.

By 'leveling', you mean 'randomly/artificially nerfing' players. I don't know... I suppose I could be just acting unreasonable and hostile towards modes outside of the Conquest variations and rush, but meh just not a fan of it at all. The problem is the weapon spawns seem to be a bit too randomized, and some of the loadouts are downright terrible, add those problems to potentially picking up a downright mediocre weapon or a weapon that just doesn't suit the map... you have problems. If those things were a little bit more static or the weapon randomization were smaller or not there, I could get behind it, but right now, it just seems like 'experimentation'. Something that DICE is just trying out and throwing out there, hoping it sticks. Just like Tank Superiority or Gun Master.

I got some conquest action in, all of these maps are AMAZING imo. They're a perfect mixture of long/medium/close range combat. Unlike your typical 'urban combat' maps, some of these maps are HUGE, and there are more than just your predictable set of alleyways. A LOT of corridors and passages that go THROUGH buildings. And unlike a lot of the buildings DICE has used in the past, most of these structures/architectures don't look/feel generic and add a lot to your navigation of the map.

TDM, as some one who plays his fair share, I like the previous maps a lot better for it (some fantastic ones in AK and B2K).

I kinda wish I could play the smaller 'Scavenger' maps in Conquest Domination mode instead. Basically the same thing, fast capping flags, smaller/compact cuts of the maps, except without the whole 'scavenge' bs.

I like scavenger, but it probably plays better on 32 player and smaller servers. Otherwise, everybody runs around with pistols half the time.

I'd not see it being a staple of my game time, but it can be a nice change up.

I am incredibly impressed with the maps themselves this time around. A lot of people abhorred Close Quarters but I really liked that DICE stepped out of their comfort zone and did things very different there for maps. And personally, I think they were great. Armored Kill maps sort of took them back to their comfort zone (aka Generic Buildings pool + expansive landscapes), and felt a little lazy to me (then again CQ might have sucked me up too hard into that CQ style gameplay maybe I just wasn't ready/feeling up to it). But aftermath is a perfect mixture of both.

As much as unhappy some people have been about the idea of Premium and what that might mean for the series and blahdy blah, I could babble on a whole podcast or multiple blogs worth of stuff they've doing right so far.

I am actually excited for End Game after seeing Aftermath.

ps. woohoo hit rank 100.

Well I switched on the pc this morning, opened origin and it's downloading the patch now. Should be able to log in tonight and give it a go. Hopefully it's good. I'm giving up punching sharks for this.
