Same here. Why in does it seem that every permutation of the Cowboys-Eagles-Giants triad is in primetime? It's almost as bad as ESPN broadcasting every freaking Yankees-Red Sox game.

Because 50% of the country lives in the eastern timezone, ESPN is in Connecticut and those teams all have a decent amount of history.

Yeah, as much as it sucks for some of us, if those games didn't get good ratings they'd show different teams.

Sweet Christ Oakland.. I was hoping for at least a split over the last few games. We need McFadden back.

Think about how many years of that we both have to look forward to.

Mark Sanchez is still owed 8.5m guaranteed... not sure how he spent his first contract money but he should start planning frugally.... and make sure he has all the cheerleaders numbers.

Tony Romo has thrown more td passes in a Cowboy uniform than Troy Aikman. If that doesn't show you how the game has changed then nothing will.

I thought it would be more than that. They were smart enough to sign him to a three year extension earlier this year with $20m in guarantees. They must have had to front load it, or risk him going to free agency and losing him to a tidal wave of money. That assumes that the Jets weren't the only team to recognize that he was horrible even prior to this year.

This morning, when you were thinking about today's games, who do think would have had a better defensive showing Dallas or St. Louis?

Let me say now, I was wrong.

Dallas is still trying to find a way to lose.

Andy Reid shouldn't be the only NFC East coach out of a job at the end of the year.

Me neither. Wish I'd been able to watch, but as is often the case, the Cincinnati game preempts the Steelers game.

Silver lining on Pittsburgh's QB woes: they've rediscovered the run. I like Dwyer. Maybe they had a run focus for so many years because they tended to have mediocre QBs.

To be fair, Emmitt Smith took a few of Aikman's TDs.

And Romo's running backs are ... ?

Update: Looked up some Cowboy rushing stats.

The most recent 1,000-yard rushing season by a Cowboy RB not named Emmitt, Herschel, Dorsett or Calvin Hill?

It was Julius Jones in 2006.

IMO a perfect Eagles game.. we get to see the young guys but at the end we lose a meaningless game.. we just need more teams to win games here.. come on Chiefs and Jags!!!

Meanwhile the front office continues to blunder around.. firing another position coach..wtf guys.. way to leave your fan base with mixed feelings.. on one hand we have hope that new coaching staff and some better talent means there is light at the end of the tunnel.. then we remember we have Howie Roseman running things and he is clueless.

I have this Cowboys fan at work with an insanely large mouth. Guy was singing "We Are the Champions" after Dallas beat the Giants in Week 1.

As the season has progressed, he has thankfully been getting more and more quiet.

I enjoy reminding him that the only difference between the Cowboys and the Jets is one win.

Part of that has to do with the perpetually injured running backs they keep on the pay roll.

I have a friend who is a die hard Cowboys fan as well. Used the ol "how bout them Cowboys" line after game 1. Not a peep since.

Heard today that the doctors cleared Tebow yesterday, but it was Ryan's decision to keep him inactive.

And then of course he finally benches Sanchez, which should have been done multiple times this year.

This. The Cowboys haven't had an Emmitt Smith in a while, but they have not been completely deficient in the run game, either. They were 18th last year, 16th in 2010, and 7th in 2009.

That said, the original stat of discussion was about touchdowns, not 1000 yard rushers. Emmitt Smith was a touchdown converting machine.

Marion Barber was a TD converting guy (that year that Julius Jones had 1000 yards? He had only 4 TDs while Marion Barber had 14). But the rest of the group has been pretty TD poor, particularly Felix Jones. DeMarco Murray only scored 2 TDs last year in his ~900 yard breakout half-season.

The TD formula has tipped strongly in the passing game's direction, particularly in the absence of Marion Barber.

Emmit Smith was a red zone converting machine. Because really, it didn't matter how far out from the goal line he was. He would wait for the defense to break down and pick them apart.

Speaking of RB's... all you youngster's should watch the ESPN 30 for 30 this Saturday night.. its about Bo Jackson.

Or the NFL Network piece on Barry Sanders.

Who's ready for the Giants to beat the Redskins today? This guy!

I have a feeling this is going to be a nail biter of a game. I hope the Giants hand them their asses but I don't think it will go that way.

While I loved Barry Sanders and he is on my list.. he was no Bo Jackson.. IMO greatest RB evar! (not stats wise obviously). The only negative about Bo Jackson is that he was responsible for some awful Brian Bosworth Movies.

Let us all (OU fans included) forget the Boz.

I'm staying at the Westin in Arlington, VA.. Where the Giants are staying.. they are about to leave for the stadium.. If I was a crazy Eagles fan I might be tempted to pull a Tonya Harding and crowbar Pieface's knee.

There is a pretty good crowd to see them out.. I noticed some Redskins fans.. I'm hopeful they will taunt the Giants players..

Too bad we are 3-9 its probably not going to carry much weight launching into an Eagles chant...

Bo Jackson was probably the greatest athlete to play professional football.

If Bo had actually dedicated himself to football, preparing for a full 16 game season and hitting the ground running on week 1, there wouldn't be a single season rushing record left standing.

Football is not a game where you go from playing namby-pamby baseball and just step on the field and endure contact. (If you're Deion Sanders, no worries, because you play your position with absolutely no contact anyway). That Bo could step out of the Royals uniform and step on the field and play running back at all is an extreme testament to his physical ability. That he could play it so well is even more so. But even Bo wasn't fully Bo right out of the gate. Just projecting his numbers for 16 games wouldn't do justice to what Bo could have done if he just played for football, with a full training camp of preparation.

Since Romo and Aikman came up, some more numbers.

Some highlights:

* Aikman is still ahead in yards (nearly 33K vs. 24.5K)

* Romo has a lower interception percentage (3.0 percent vs. 2.8 percent)

* Romo is more accurate (65 percent vs. 62 percent)

* Aikman average 200 yards per game for his career only if you round up (199.6)

I never thought of Aikman as a stud QB -- just one who was good and a good game manager (and good enough to get three rings). Marino was my guy back then, and no one could sling it like Dan.

And, yeah, Bo Jackson was all that. Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith are my two GOATs, but Bo was a whole different species of RB.

Enix wrote:

Same. Why when I saw that Romo passed him it earned a shrug.

As for Bo it was just before my time and I'm kinda pissed I missed it. Besides the being younger then you guys part. That I don't mind.

There are always "What Ifs" for GOAT. Sure, maybe Bo does that, but Gale Sayers was phenomenal in his short career before that injury ended things. Eric Dickerson on a better team could have been unstoppable. OJ Simpson in a modern offense would have just carved through people (yes, I'm going to Hell).

Also, Walter Payton was better than all of them.
