Questions you want answered.

On a completely different note:

I need your help, GWJ. A parody of "Danke Shoen" called "Donkey Show" must already exist, right?

Edit: Searching Google seemed illadvised.

As horrible as it is, it does seem to be the sort of advice he's looking for (at least for his second request).
From the wiki link he posted:

The concept is that the title character is a busty and naïve waif who continually finds herself in various bizarre situations where lusty men continually attempt to sexually molest or exploit her.

Not cool.

Yeah, I'm confused. RolandofGilead asked to meet a bimbo.

*silence*

CannibalCrowley answered him.

*outrage*

Why is the answer more outrageous than the question? You ask a non-PC question, you get a non-PC answer. I couldn't tell if Roland was joking or what, but if he was, why are we not assuming that Cannibal was also joking?

Actually, this whole portion of the thread is reading like some sort of in-joke that I'm not in on.

f*ck.

He was stressing out about finding a bubbly bimbo, I simply let him know that they're all to common.

I think if he wanted terrible advice that sounds like it came from TV's Mystery he would have gone and bought a box set of The Pickup Artist DVDs.

Actually, the type he wants is likely to be susceptible to such methods.

I'm confused, what part was "sh*tbag" as you so eloquently put it? The part where I pointed out to him that the type of woman he's looking for will usually be damaged? If so, why do you feel it's so wrong to point out that a bubbly bimbo is likely to have serious issues?

Rallick wrote:

Then complain to the person who asked where he could find bubbly bimbos.

RolandofGilead wrote:

Matchmaking sites seem to match me with women like me, but I'd like someone the exact opposite, where can I find a warm, bubbly woman in Maryland?

You should try Bethesda. I was hanging out with some friends the other evening at a local bar, and it looked like a damned scene from How I Met Your Mother. There were an unbelievable number of gorgeous women. Of course, given that a staggering number of people in this town have Masters/Doctorates (e.g. a similar scene on a different night revealed that almost all of the hot girls were doctoral students), their standards may be much higher than the usual meat-market scene.

The 'Bimbo' part I'm going to pretend wasn't in there.

You're right. Offensive though I consider your answer, asking for 'bimbos' is at least as offensive, and deserves to be called out too. My apologies for singling you out when I should also have included RolandofGilead in there.

So if it's a sh*tty question then point out that it's sh*tty. Not sure how that invalidates calling out the misogyny in the answer. Also not sure how calling out one misogynist post confers a responsibility to find all others like it. Maybe the fact that people are posting aggressively misogynist things is a bigger problem to worry about than who started it and whether they are all being yelled at equally?

"bubbly" or "bimbo" ≠ "damaged," daddy issues, sexual abuse, etc.

It's often a defence mechanism. A method of deterrence. A way to manipulate people into doing things for her. A way to put the men around her at ease because it's been kind of taught that certain guys feel threatened by intelligent women; she does it because she doesn't want to make waves so they'll like her (a common social pressure on women). It's also head in the clouds, which has been gendered in a sexist way because men aren't called bimbos when they're sitting bored at a pub and wondering what would happen if Bill and/or Ted crossed paths with the Dr and some drunk jerk keeps interrupting that by asking poorly veiled questions. It's also a way to reduce her sexual activity to a negativism and call her stupid. I could go on.

Either way, bimbo is a sh*tty construct that turns what you're looking for into a fantasized f*ck object instead of someone who is looking for a similar connection. And if what you're really looking for is a fantasy-style Dear Playboy hookup, there are other websites geared towards that where actual dating sites fall short.

Bimbo = exceptionally dumb and usually slutty. And in my experience the latter trait is often rooted in daddy issues or some sort of abuse. I've yet to meet an airhead who wasn't promiscuous, so I can't comment on the "dumb only" version.

Well it's been a good almost 4 years but we should probably go ahead and lock this thread before it gets uglier.

I'll change it up!

I just went back and read all the synopsis (er...plural?) of the Lost episodes on Lostpedia and I totally don't understand the "sideways" flashes off the last season. Was the island purgatory? If so what is up with the 2 different stories in the last season? Does GWJ have a thread about season 6 I could not find it.

Well, this conversation just went to a weird place

It's been a while and my memory is fuzzy, so I don't have a good answer for you about the flash sideways stuff. Everything else really did happen though and it wasn't purgatory.

I have no idea what those are. I also don't go to bars and clubs, which is probably why I haven't met any, but thank you for answering.

I'm not sure I understand, do you find the fact that bars exist inflammatory? Or is it that people go there to find sexual partners? Or that I was looking for a specific personality type? Is it that you believe "standard pick up routines" are harmful to an individual?

I'm here now and willing to hear you out. A person's use of "offensive" usually connotes an emotional reaction, can you express the emotion or a logical argument?

Entirely unrelated, wasn't Third Rock From The Sun an awesome show?
Entirely related, I was serious.

Asking a selection of the general population "where do I find something dumb and easy to f*ck?" ("bimbo") might be considered an offensive thing to say in polite conversation of mixed company.

Would you guys mind taking this to PMs? It's making a fun thread kind of ugly.

I'm still surprised they felt they could write in a son for Jack, have him in quite a few episodes, have us the audience create an emotional attachment to him... and then say he didn't exist.

But yeah, I remember a lot of people thinking it was purgatory, but I think the writers said that wasn't the case. This is all off memory though.

Given the nature of the request, it might be unique enough to warrant it's own thread. I hear there's a dragon-mech fetish thread, so one about mate selection preference can't be too riske for the site, but may not be a good match in this thread.

Give it a "know what you're getting into"-esque title, and I don't see it being a problem.

I have just committed the "thinks he's some kind of mod" internet sin; but I kind of like this thread, and don't want it shut down.

I'm actually just waiting for a mex anecdote at this point. We're overdue, I believe.

That was all a lie. It wound up being The Rainbow Bridge/The 5 People You Meet In Heaven.

Huh? I read that it turned out to be one of Barclay's Holodeck simulations.

Neither do I. All I've done is post questions.

Your words, not mine. Referring to my OP, Little Annie Fanny rarely became someone's lover in the course an adventure. Also, if I may find a more tactful way to put it, if someone were intimidated by highly intelligent women and desired a partner with a high sex drive, your "bimbo" would be a logical choice. I am not aware of you having a prerogative to modify others' sexual behaviour.

might be considered an offensive thing to say in polite conversation of mixed company.

Since this is the question thread and I wish to know, why? My theory is that "bimbo" is stigmatized and un-PC, thus expressing a desire for such is seen as aberrant. Also, in general, our society seems to have a conflict over the fact that we are animals ourselves so any act which triggers us to be cognizant of that barrier, whether it be triggered by sex, waste removal, being territorial, or violence tends to cause confusion and apprehension.
Your mention of mixed company also points to another aspect, that women must be protected from mention of a desire for bimbo-ness? Is it because the official stance of our society is for women to not be that way, yet the truth is that bimbo-ness is apparently attractive to many? To go another level down, are you inferring dehumanization? If so, why is that an unacceptable reason to engage in sexual intercourse?

Citizen86 wrote:

Maybe not the whole island, but the people in the church at the end, hell yeah, don't care what the writers say.

An episode of Extra Credits had a line which made me think,
given all the fan-made items out there, has anyone done a retelling or parody of a Mario game that actually had "deep, interpersonal drama between Mario, Peach, and Bowser"?

You know, when you hit rock bottom, which was approximately 20 posts ago, it's not a good idea to grab a jackhammer and keep on digging.

As others have requested, I'll send you a pm. Probably tomorrow or Tuesday. The rest of tonight is booked and it's going to take a bit to parse your flowery turn of vocabulary. And multiple logical leaps.

He pretty much said he was looking for a f*ck buddy, I'm not sure what the problem is. He finds a girl who is looking for the same thing, they scratch each others itches. What's the big deal?
